How to Get 1st Page Google Rankings for a Local Company?
-
Hi guys,
I'm owning a London removal company - Mega Removals and wants to achieve 1st page rankings on Google UK for keywords like: "removals London", "removal company London", "house removals London" but have no success so far. I need professional advice on how to do it. Should I hire an SEO or should focus on content? I will be very grateful for your help.

Thanks to all, I am currently doing off-page SEO for Tours My India Cab Agency in Jaipur, Rajasthan, India. We are offering cab agency services at our home location Jaipur and other locations too. So we made different pages for different locations. We need to rank multiple pages for each location. Currently doing off-page SEO for Ajmer Taxi Service but not getting good ranking. Website is new. I have same city level page up to 15 and each city page may have up to 20 pages. So technically I will have too many pages.
So In my case I want to rank for multiple city level page. Need more suggestions and help to do SEO effectively.
Thanks -
The best way to do this is to improve your local SEO, is to start with on-page SEO,
invest your time into writing high-quality content marketing, and build high-quality backlinks- this takes a lot of time, but when you get on page one of Google, its worth it.
we done this for a Bristol garden room company, and it has produced absolutely amazing results for this business, its now selling garden rooms, all over South West England

Thank you for the kind comment, John! All credit goes to Darren Shaw who organizes this massive survey. It's such a big job and he did an especially great job this year to make it easier for the respondents to take the survey.

Thanks all - and everyone listen to Miriam, she is another local search power hitter. While I'm here I forgot to mention local citations. I outsourced my citations to a guy actually on this forum. I won't mention the business because I don't want to come across like I'm spamming the forum but you might be able to figure out who it is. He is a lovely Russian guy who has a large citations business and their audit really helped me save a bunch of time and they got all our citations out and perfect in a week or so. That's one less thing to do and something that for a few hundred you can safely outsource if you're short on time.
I am a firm believer that life's too short for citations. And I'm bad at making typos so it's a dangerous game for me to be in!

Hey Miriam,
I want to commend you and the staff on this research! Super helpful!!

Superb answer Ed!

Dear Nanton,
Ed has given you an excellent list. I will add that if you want to tackle this in the most organized possible fashion, look at the results of the Local Search Ranking Factors 2018 survey of local SEO experts. Create a strategy based on the factors which experts are saying have the most impact on both organic and local rankings + your own knowledge of your unique market. Be as intentional as possible in your efforts and be sure you have analytics in place to measure the outcomes of specific campaigns. Hope this helps!

This is a great challenge you have here because it's 100% achievable. These are some things to consider- it's not exhaustive by any means.

Set up your google my business profile and get it all optimised with the right categories & seed the Q&A part and offers with a good introductory offer and some frequently asked questions

Seriously consider changing the name of your company to London Removals - as this will really really help things.
-
Start collecting google reviews (not from the same office as they won't show up)
-
Add Schema markup (local business) in the datahighlighter
-
Set up all your keywords and content inside Moz or your favourite SEO tool and start watching the rankings
-
Optimise your homepage with London removals in the name of business, permalink, first paragraph, one of the H1's, meta description and image Alt.
-
Start writing content based on the main local keyword topics. Don't focus on keywords but on one topic for each article. Think about creating the best article you can that exhaustively covers that topic and make it 10X better than the current one on google.
-
Speak to your customers and find out what information they want to know and write about it
-
Set aside two hours a day learning from Youtube and Moz about SEO strategies and possibly speak to or follow Joy Hawkins, she's the queen of local search (sorry other queens and princesses of local) I learned local SEO in about 8 months this way and was able to rank locally for everything in Liverpool. London is different. Perhaps you should focus on a London Borough to make it easier. So call the business Removals North West London or Removals South London. There are enough people in one Borough to give you plenty of customers and make the job of SEO a little easier. Remember that the most important signal is LOCATION!. So you'll do much better being mega removals Westminster or Mega removals Southwark etc. I'd say the volumes are easy enough (about 500/month for removals north London) Then once the business grows you can buy another unit in another postcode and rinse and repeat.
That should give you plenty to be going on with. Good luck!

Meta descriptions in other languages than the page's content?
Hi guys, I need an opinion on the optimization of meta descriptions for a website available in 6 languages that faces the following situation: Main pages are translated in 6 languages, English being primary >> all clear here. BUT The News section includes articles only in English, that are displayed as such on all other language versions of the website. Example:
Local Website Optimization | | Andreea-M
website.com/en/news/article 1
website.com/de/neues/article 1
website.com/fr/nouvelles/article 1
etc. Because we don't have the budget right now to translate all content, I was wondering if I could add only the Meta Titles and Meta Descriptions in the specific languages (using Google Translate), while the content to remain in English. Would this be accepted as reasonable enough for Google, or would it affect the website ranking?
I'd like to avoid major mistakes, so I'm hoping someone here on this forum has a better idea of how to proceed in this case.0 -
Can I have multiple GeoShape Schema for one page on one domain?
Hi Mozers, I'm working on some Schema for a client of mine, but whilst doing the research on GeoShapes with my developer, we came across a potential issue with this particular mark-up. My client is B2C business, operating in numerous places across the UK. I want to use the Circle property from GeoShape to draw out multiple circles across the UK, but am I able to do this? From looking at some other websites, most seem to just have one GeoShape. Can I have multiple on the same page and same domain? Thanks! Virginia

Does A Local Therapist Need A Blog, or Should They Focus on Main Service Pages?
Hi everyone! I am just starting to practice SEO by assisting a friend with her local relationship therapy practice, and I'm not sure whether or not she needs a blog. Here's the content they currently have: A page for specific categories within relationship therapy (unmarried couples, marriage, divorce, pre-marital, etc) On each page, she describes what that type of therapy is, what clients can expect, and how she will help them during the process. My question is this: Does it make sense to start a blog, or, is it better to build out the main, static service pages with more content? I'm worried that if she does start a blog, that it could potentially take away from the authority of the main service pages. For example, let's say she writes a highly specific post titled "how to talk to your husband about marriage". Is it better to just incorporate aspects of this post on the main marriage page, or keep it as a blog post? I really appreciate any suggestions and I'm happy to answer any questions.

Why has my site dropped to page 2?
I haven't been paying attention to my sites SERP for the past year, and only realized I've dropped to page 2 on a keyword search. Specifically, on Google.ca, searching the keywords "wedding invitations" My site, www.stephita.com, used to consistently rank in the top 3 links. While my competitors have leapfrogged me. 😞 I realized that my site wasn't "mobile-friendly", and had a few other issues like keyword stuffing, long meta descriptions and titles. I've fixed these issues "now", but wanted to know does this mean my site was severely penalized by the Panda/Penguin updates for the last few years? Does having a PR3 site mean anything? My competitors who our rank me on SERP, are all PR1 sites. Greatly appreciate any feedback you can give me! 🙂

Google my business - Image sizes
I have scoured the web in order to find a guide that would give me the ideal dimensions for images to populate google my business page... in vain. Google itself is very vague about it as indicated below Format: JPG, PNG, TIFF, BMP Size: Between 10 KB and 5 MB Minimum resolution: 250px tall, 250px wide Does anyone know of a guide with optimum recommendation for each photo (profile, Cover photo, business specific photos...) or alternatively can recommend the exact size needed. Thanks

I have 5 sites each targeting a different service my company offers, should I consolidate to one site or merge to one?
I run a photo booth company and have a site for each service I offer. Are smaller sites that are SEO for each service stronger than just having pages for each service on one mother site?thanks,

Killing it in Yahoo/Bing...Sucking it in Google. What gives?
Our website http://www.survive-a-storm.com has historically performed well in Google for the search terms "storm shelters" and "tornado shelters." Our geographic focus is nationwide, but we are particularly interested in ranking up for Oklahoma. Right now we are hovering at about the third position in Yahoo/Bing, and in some geographic areas (i.e., as selected in Google's search settings) we are doing reasonably to quite well for these terms in Google (i.e., first page). In Oklahoma, though, we are holding steady around positions 20-25. We have just changed the title tag on our home page, cleaned up a bit of on-page optimization, and are going to work on getting some more optimized content on the page. We are outperforming the competition on Domain Authority (38) and Page Authority (46), and as far as I can tell, other key metrics are respectable. Our social isn't bad, but could always use improvement--which we are working on. Any idea why we might be lagging so badly in Google? Any help would be appreciated!

Welcome to the Crawling, Indexing, and Ranking sub-forum
Hi guys,We built 2 sites for a client called Kilsaran. 1. Kilsaran.ie targeting Ireland2. Kilsaraninternational.co.uk targeting the ukThe issue is with the uk version of the site is not appearing where it used to be on the SERPs on google.co.uk when you serach for either "Kilsaran" or "Kilsaran International". The Irish version kilsaran.ie now appears first. We have set the GEO targeting for the respective Countries. The .ie site is the original site with the longer History and much more domain authority, links etc There is no manual penalty appearing So my questions is how do I get the English version to appear no.1on google.co.uk? Is it a case of building some local links? or should I implement geo ip detection?Another related question. What is the geo targeting tools function in GWT used for?ThanksRob
