Redirect and page ranking
-
We used to have a good page rank of Google, but now our page rank dropped to zero.
A few months ago we did a redirect from our www.???.com to non-www.???.com, because non-www.???.com is now our main website.
We also have a number of other domains which we redirect to our main website non-www.???.com
Do you think these redirects are causing the problem, and if so what can we do to fix it?
Thanks!

Thank you for your prompt reply
Up till now, we never paid any attention to our rankings for certain keywords.
We recently noticed that our sales dropped and we decided to have a closer look to understand what's happening. That's how we found out about our page ranking. I did some tests on Rank Tracker and noticed we have to work on our ranking for certain keywords, because we're not in the top 50.

PageRank is rarely updated for public these days. If your redirect is set properly all your PR should show in the next toolbar PR update. If it still shows 0 then there are two possibilities: a) links that gave you pagerank don't exist anymore or don't have pagerank themselves b) penalty. Both are quite unlikely. I recommend you don't obsess too much over this and one day you will be pleasantly surprised with a bit of green. Keep in mind that will be only a historical record of PR when Google last took the snapshot.

It may be a temp problem. How did you redirect them, did you use a 301 redirect. if not youy need to.
If you did the link juice will flow though with losing only a small amount because of the redirect.
The published page rank is only updated every 6 months or so, and is pretty much useless as a metric, what is more impoartant is your rankings, have they changed?

Ranking for "synonym" terms on separate pages?
(My title says "synonym" but it's not exactly the most accurate word, but works best for the title_) I have a site that ranks #1 for a term, and let’s pretend it’s “cheap phone”. It’s also ranks #1 for “cheap phone service” and #3 for “cheap phone plans”. These are all the home page with those rankings I have a sub page whose natural title would be “Cheap Phone Plans” or “Cheap Phone Service”. I have it named something these and it is not optimized for either of these terms because I think it would be best to not mess with the good rankings I have already for those two terms So here’s my question: what would likely be the outcome if I optimized that subpage for “Cheap Phone Plans” or “Cheap Phone Service”? If Google began to direct searchers of this term to my subpage rather than my home page, would my home page lose some of it’s ranking with it’s main and most popular keyword, “cheap phone? Thanks!

Duplicate Page Title
Wordpress Category pagination causes duplicate page title errors (ie. when there are so many posts in the category, it paginates them), is this a problem? Your tool is reporting it as a problem... but ProPhoto (my Wordpress provider say it is not a problem). Here are the 2 URL's with the same page title: http://www.lisagillphotography.co.uk/category/child-photography/ http://www.lisagillphotography.co.uk/category/child-photography/page/2/

3 keywords optomize for home page. Should I create page with thoses keywords or leave it like this?
My online store home page, Furnace Filters Canada has 3 keywords with good ranking in google.ca keywords: ''furnace filters canada'' rank #1 position in google.ca keywords: ''furnace filters'' and ''furnace filter'' are on 5 or 6th position of page 1 in google.ca Those keywords are bringing most of the traffic to our site. To achieve this ranking, I had to use the On-Page Keyword Optimization, tool from seoMoz Questions: It is possible for me to create a page with the URL: https://www.furnacefilterscanada.com/Furnace-Filters or https://www.furnacefilterscanada.com/Furnace-Filter Can this improve my ranking with keywords like, ''furnace filters'' and ''furnace filter''? Is this a waist of time? If I decide to create a new page for optimization with, do I have to create one for singular and another one for plural? Creating a new page also mean removing, '' Furnace Filter'' in the home page title, until the new pages are index, I'm afraid to loss that 5th position in Google. Should I leave the home page title like it is now, '' Furnace Filter - Furnace Filters Canada - Online Shopping Store NOTE: we only do business in Canada, that is why Google.ca is more important to us Thank you, Jean Nichols

Optimally, how many times should the key word or phrase you are targeting for a particular page be mentioned or appear on that page?
Our marketing team is debating how many times the key phrase on each of our web store's product pages should include the word/phrase we are trying to be competitive with. Can you advise?

Too many 301 redirects to home page - is this possible?
If a site has a bunch of 404’s that are basically old URL’s that no longer work and point to pages or documents that don’t exist anymore - Can someone clarify if it’s a problem when fixing a bunch of these 404’s to point them all to the home page? so if there is not really anywhere else that is applicable for the old broken URL, is it really a problem to 301 old pages to the site home page? I have read some different things on this recently on some different sites, so I just wondered what the latest thinking on this was….thanks...

Ranking on page 5 for a 1% difficulty keyword
Hello mozers, I am going crazy over this. I have designed a new site www.smh.cz. The company name / kw is unique (Smolikova Mikulas Hendrich), but it appears on page 5 on Google.
On-Page Optimization | | ilincev
Yahoo and Bing is fine (in top 3 positions). All the on-page factors are ok too.
All the smh.cz pages are indexed on Google. We have done a 301 redirect of two other domains (sm-legal.cz and smm-partners.cz) which were websites for the firms prior to forming a new one. I am scratching my head over what does Google dislike so much. Any thoughts? Can the smh.cz domain - which previously had some dodgy insurance content - be the reason? Your help is much appreciated.
