Browser Size = Not Set Filter in Google Analytics
-
I have been trying to filter this traffic out of my Google Analytics data since it all seems to be related to spam traffic.
I have had multiple instances wherein using this filter:
(Backslash not displaying in message preview - I have written backlash to indicate its placement in the filter)Custom Filter - Exclude - Browser Size - ^backlash(not setbackslash)$
Traffic seems to appropriately filter out - but then the filter ceases working. In looking at a new site with Browser Size = (not set) traffic the filter preview doesn't appear to work either.
Am I implementing the filter incorrectly? How do I filter this traffic out of GA data sucessfully?
If I use the exact same method using RegEx in Google Data Studio - the filter works perfectly.

Should we set up redirects for all deleted TAGS?
We recently found our site had 65,000 tags (yes 65K). In an effort to consolidate these we've started deleting them. MOZ is now reporting a heap of 404 errors for tag pages. These tag pages should not have links to them so not sure how come they're being crawled. Any suggestions from experience in this area would be useful.

How to set up redirects with a company takeover
Hi there, We are about to take over a player in the market with some good DA en PA's. We choose to redirect all the pages from the domain we take over to our main domain for now, later we want to redirect all categories to relevant and similar categories on our own domain. The company we take over is using a server which will be cancelled in a while. For now we set up the 301 redirect(s) on their server we take over. Because of the extra costs we will cancel the server in a few weeks/months. What is a common way to keep 301 redirects alive after cancelling the server of company we take over? I hope someone can give me the help I need in this one. Thanks in advance! Cheers,

Google Analytics - Custom Variables
Hi guys, I'd appreciate any advice with this one. At the moment I'm in the process of arranging a URL re-structure. I was wondering what the best way would be to track the performance of the old URLs against new ones? We will be ammending the URLs for any new property pages which go live on our website but leaving the old URLs in play for any old properties listed. We're taking this approach for the moment so we can conduct analysis on the change. It has been mentioned to me that placing a 'setvariable' in the code of pages with the old URLs and ones with the new URLs would be a way of tracking performance. However, my knowledge in this area is a little bit grey. Any advice? Cheers, Mark

Leverage browser caching Nginx
Hi there, Does anyone have any experience with leverage browser caching on Nginx? Every time I run the pagespeed test from Google my site comes up with this as a high priority issue that needs to be addressed. I can see that it is mostly images that doesn't have an expiry date and tried putting the following into my conf file: location ~* .(jpg|jpeg|gif|css|png|js|ico)$ {

expires max;
} But this results in breaking my page off and all elements where out of place and missing images. Also tried excluding css and js but hen all images where still missing. My site is running on Drupal and I use APC for PHP to increase the load time on the site. Hope somebody might be able to help me out.0 -

Why Google did not index our domain?
Hi, We launched tmart 60 days ago and submitted to google, bing, yahoo 20 days later. But google had never indexed our website still when yahoo indexed it in one week. What we have checked or tried: 1. We got 20~50 inlinks in one month and now 81 inlinks via yahoo site explorer. 2. This domain has registered for 13 years and we purchased it from sedo last year. We

did not find any problems from domain archive pages. 3. Page similar: the homepage is 50% similar to one of our competitors when we just launched.
So we adjusted the page structure and modified the content one month later and decreased the similarity to 30% (by tools from webconfs.com) 4. Google Robots: googlebot crawled our website every day after we submitted for indexing.
We opened GWT account for it and added the xml sitemap last week. GWT said nothing
was wrong except the time of page loading. Our questions: Why google did not indexed our website? What should we do? Thanks, wu0
