Precautions for Linkbuilding with Mommy Blogs
-
If you are seeking links from blogs in a niche that is known for having a lot of commercial links from reviews or sponsored posts what precautions should you take? Should you avoid any blog with sponsored posts or that reviews products?
-
I do this in the homeschooling niche. The only precaution I take is to allow them to write whatever they want, and to not specify the anchor text they use when they link to me. That way the links look natural, and they're lower risk for triggering any over-optimization penalties.
Not that a search engine can read intent (yet), but I don't do this for rankings; I do this for the traffic that comes from the post. Since we're an education site, and lots of homeschoolers write about us anyway, so the relevancy of our site to the blog is high. Also, a few sponsored posts don't look unnatural when there are also many natural posts and links about.
These blogs often have other sponsored posts and reviews, and a lot of them also do giveaways that I've participated in. I haven't had any issues myself <knock on="" wood="">. However, you never know when there could be another animal being released from the Google zoo!</knock>

How To Increase Blog DA to 50+
Hey, I am wondering to know the key metrics which MOZ considers before giving a blog of DA 50+. I have tried to search but couldn't find the best answers so was wondering how it's achieved. For example a site named "SportsALA" have a DA of 20 but i see they have links from many sites. I have checked other sites as well for example and they have less RDs but still had higher DA. Can anyone help me to explain Moz DA 2.0 factors a bit more. Thanks

Opinions On Resource-Page Linkbuilding
Hi, I'm just looking to get some opinions on resource-page linkbuilding. These are links you would gain from sites when you use the following type of search operators: "keyword" + inurl:links

"keyword" + inurl:resources
"keyword" + "helpful links"
... and so on... What do you think Google's thoughts on this subject would be when a large portion of the pages returned are long lists of links - usually these will be the title of the page linked to as well as either a bare link or an anchor text link. In some instances a short description of the page linked to would also be there. Are these long-term links that will continue to be relevant and worth spending time on for linkbuilding, or are these going to be see by Google as lower-quality links and potentially unnatural ? For example, Google's page on link schemes states; "Low-quality directory or bookmark site links" may violate their guidelines. Do you think that in some cases, resource pages may be seen as somewhat fitting this description? Thanks! [Edit] I have also found this comment from a Moz post 4 years ago, but cannot find any other reference to John commenting on resource pages: "A while back, someone asked John Mueller in a hangout about the benefits of getting a link on an outdated resource page and the answer was that if it is a link that never gets clicked on then it's probably not passing a lot of value."1 -
Blog commenting counter exact match do-follow backlinks?
Hi, I was wondering if blog commenting (no-follow links with names as anchor text) is a good way to counter possible overuse of exact match do-follow backlinks?

How new website / blogs can earn backlinks?
Hi, As link wheels, link pyramids and paid links are penalized by google and the only chance to get back links is to earn them. My Question is that with a new website / blog, how a newbie with no relationships with established bloggers, can earn links? Because writing quality contents and detailed posts (e.g. more than 3000 words posts twice a month) still would benefits for those blogs having already traffic to share these contents and in case of new blog, due to very low traffic, it would take months or years to enter in the game. Please propose step by step strategy / plan / footprint for newly born website and marketers. Thanks

Outsourcing Linkbuilding: Companies, Costs, Payment models
Hi there I am looking at outsourcing linikbuilding to a new content site. I want to target one 3 word keyphrase to begin with, it has a keyword difficulty of 48% (moderately competitive) on Google US. Goal is to rank 1-3, the target page is well on-page optimised. Here are my questions: Are there companies that have performance based payment models? Any rough guestimates on how much money is needed to get a page to rank 1-3 for a 48% difficulty level keyword? Over how many months? Any recommendations for good companies? Thanks a bunch, Chris

Linkbuilding help discussion
I've seen a couple of questions about outsourcing linkbuilding. The general tone is that it is a very dangerous practice to select any service or to hire someone without a very thorough vetting of their past projects. This makes sense to me. But my businesses don't have the resources to hire an employee or an established seo firm. I am developing a sound linkbuilding practice from what I learn here at seomoz. The trouble is I just don't have the time to do it to the scale necessary. I can afford to hire an assistant/contractor for $15/hr or less. Would it be a good idea to hire someone from elance or odesk and work very closely with them to make sure they build quality links? Do you think this is better than hiring someone who says they can get me to google #1 for a specific keyword for $100 or so? Does seomoz or anyone else have any recommendations on where to go to find quality help? Thanks

Does PA matter much on blogs like tumblr, wordpress.com?
I've been exploring setting up pages on these type of sites. When searching for key words I've discovered the following... If a sites DA id let's say 83, the root domain you create is also an 83 (not 100% but most I've looked at) The PA starts at 1, but there seem to be a lot of these blog sites that rank for my key word searches even though the PA is a 1. So... I was wondering the value of attempting the get the PA of mine greater than one with back links. The blog page will link to the corresponding page on my main site. Is it worth the time, or PA in this case is not really much of a ranking factor in creating link juice? What I'm asking is that will a page on let's say joemastriano.blogspot.com/ (whatever) get more link juice to the page i link it to if the PA was 25 and not 1?

Other than the homepage, what other pages need linkbuilding TLC?
With my linkbuilding efforts, I know what keywords I want to target but my homepage ranks for most of my keywords. The other pages were written and built for specific keywords, but do they need linkbuilding TLC? They don't rank in the SERPs much anyway (if not at all) and the homepage is by-far the strongest in the SERPs.
