Video in iFrame
-
I'm thinking to add free Lynda.com's video to my blog posts. The idea is to boost my textual content with some video. It's totally a good idea for the user. I get that part .
Problem is, the videos are embedded with the help of iframes, for example:
<iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.lynda.com/player/embed/137348?fs=2&tr=utm_medium=ldc-partner;utm_source=SSPRC;utm_content=11889;utm_campaign=CD14853;aid=CD14853;bid=11889;subID5=137348" frameborder="0"></iframe>
The question is if it makes any sense for SEO?
-
I think that's a good summation Mat.
It's not going to add any "SEO" value at all, but it might be useful for users. If so, great; If not, don't do it.

You can't really expect to get any SEO benefit from embedding someone else's video. What does that bring to the table that is original and unique?
There is nothing with embedding someone else's video in your site (with permission, of course). However by itself it won't add anything.
If that video was embedded as part of making the most useful page around on the topic, which happened to include embedded versions of a curated list of the best videos on the topic, then yes. Likewise if adding the video is the "cherry on the cake" of an already good page, then brilliant. In those cases the method you use to embed will make no difference.

Can you transcribe your youtube video to just google?
YouTube videos have been very effective for us on our site. The only problem is they have taken part of a fair amount of our content so to google our pages may seem to have minimal content. Transcribing each video and including that on the page would take away from the look of the page and clutter it. Is there a way to let google know the content without having to include it on the page? You can find an example page at https://www.waikoloavacationrentals.com/halii-kai-rentals/

Is adding video to my homepage a ranking signal
Just had a lengthy chat with an SEO guy and one of the points bought up was that video on the homepage is a definite signal these days and the bots read the metas better than ever. I'm not sure about this, I do think that videos are a thing that improves the user experience but to rank? If it was to rank would I embed a YouTube video as its owned by Google, Vimeo for the quality or self-host but cause me to have a heavy page. I'm a bit lost here and would appreciate some guidance.

How to make video snapshot appear near your search result
What's the proper way to have google display a video near the search result for my webpage (I'm using LeadPlayer to play videos). I think that the information regarding the video is there (I also submitted a video sitemap) but when I do a search the author picture is displayed instead of the video. Have I set anything wrong? How can I display the video if my post contains a video? You can try searching "phraseexpander create customizable templates" There's my youtube video and then the result from my webpage http://www.phraseexpander.com I would like to display the video as a result. Thanks a lot. Andrea

I have a real estate site with listings (homes for sale). Agents want to use my listing feed on their sites via an iframe. The clients would be scrolling through my listings through an iframe. Duplicate content on video pages
Hi guys, We have a video section on our site containing about 50 videos, grouped by category/difficulty. On each video page except for the embedded player, a sentence or two describing the video and a list of related video links, there's pretty much nothing else. All of those appear as duplicate content by category. What should we do here? How long a description should be for those pages to appear unique for crawlers? Thanks!
