Moz tools are returning "url is inaccessible"
-
Hello everyone,
I have been trying to use the on page grader tool and I have also tried to do a site crawl test, and both tools have come back with a "Sorry, but that URL is inaccessible" error. This has not been a problem before. Any ideas why this is happening eg what is blocking it. The url is www.livinghouse.co.uk any help for a novice would be appreciated.
PS. I have had another tool also not giving any results, so I assume its something on the site which is blocking the tools. Could this also block Google?
Thanks Giles

Hi David,
My website, http://lifeforcehub.com/, is having the same issue where the url is inaccessible. Is there any update on your public IP as I will ask my ISP to unblock your public IP
Thanks
-
Hi Huburtus
Sorry to hear you are running into similar issues. Would you be able to contact your ISP and make sure they are not blocking our public IP 54.188.112.170?
Hope this helps

Hallo David,
I'am experiencing a similar problem with www.dinamo.de / http://www.dinamo.de
Pingdom shows insignificant errors:
http://dnscheck.pingdom.com/?domain=www.dinamo.de×tamp=1404969988&view=1
Can you please look into it on your side?
Thank you in advance

Awesome Giles!

Hello Dave,
All sorted, finally after much prompting the server people decided to have a look and the configuration set up had changed. Now working.
Thanks for your effort

Hi Giles
We're running into being blocked by a few DNS providers and our engineers are reaching out to try and find out why we are not able to get through. I hope to have an update very soon!
-
Hello David,
Any luck with your engineers.
Also the server people asked this question "I suggest that kindly contact your software application provider and ask them the exact requirement to run the software"
So far the server people are not being particularly helpful?
Thanks
Giles

Hi Giles
I will have our engineers take a look and should have a response within 24 hours.

Hello Dave,
I have done another DNS check (link attached) and the DNS issue seems to be resolved but I still cannot use the on page grader tool, which still gives a url is not accessible message. http://dnscheck.pingdom.com/?domain=livinghouse.co.uk
Do you have any other ideas of what could be the issue.
Any help would be very much appreciated.
Thanks
Giles

Thanks Dave I will look in that direction and let you know giles

Hi Giles!
It appears your site is not reachable via DNS and you would need to contact your hosting provider to resolve. Using a DNS check tool via http://dnscheck.pingdom.com/ the test fails indicating there is no delegation found for the domain: http://www.screencast.com/t/q4r7jGTq
DNSstuff has more details through their test that states: Nameservers were found, but the domain entered is a non-delegating subdomain. This application checks conformance to standards for delegating domains/subdomains, so many of the following tests could fail (SOA for instance). If you have a lot of subdomains that share the same parent nameservers you may want to break these out into separate zones. Creating separate zones reduces the load on your parent nameservers. To create sepeparate zones you must assign this subdomain it's own nameservers responsible for this domain and remove these records from your parent zone. This separate zone must have a primary and secondary (at least) nameservers with different IP addresses and an SOA record must be created that refers queries to the newly created primary nameserver.
Hope this helps!

I was able to use open Web Explorer easily on your site
http://www.opensiteexplorer.org/links?site=www.livinghouse.co.uk
your robots.txt file is right here
User-agent: *
Disallow: /acatalog/callmeback.htmlSitemap: http://www.livinghouse.co.uk/sitemap.xml
I would let the Moz help team know.
Sincerely,
Thomas

Difference between urls and referring urls?
Sorry, nit new to this side of SEO We recently discovered we have over 200 critical crawler issues on our site (mainly 4xx) We exported the CSV and it shows both a URL link and a referring URL. Both lead to a 'page not found' so I have two questions? What is the difference between a URL and a referring URL? What is the best practice/how do we fix this issue? Is it one for our web developer? Appreciate the help.

Does Moz have any tools to see the amount of traffic certain keywords bring us in search? Does anyone know any tools that give the actual traffic numbers?
We're looking for numerical data on the amount of traffic that keywords receive, regardless of their rank in Moz. Thanks!

Where is the link prospecting tool?
I feel like last year when Moz was still SEOMoz I used a beta tool that would help you build a bunch of queries for link prospecting. You would tell it what your sites about and a few other pieces of information, and it would give you a list of google queries to get you started (ie inurl:directory <industryname> +"add site"</industryname>). However, I'm having a hard time finding this tool, or any reference to it on the web. It's also possible that it wasn't a moz tool but I'm misremembering where I found it. Does anybody have any idea what I'm talking about?

Sudden decrease in Moz Page rank
Hello, We have a serious issue with 404s and recently saw our Moz Page rank fall from 53 to 47. 1. OSE Inbound links no longer shows any of our Linked In posts, did Linked In stop passing juice? 2. Does SEO Moz reduce your ranking when there's a sudden increase in 404s? 2a. WP Yoast SEO - I accidentally checked the box on this plugin to "Strip the category base (usually /category/) from the category URL" which basically caused all of our blog post categories and Datafeedr categories to disappear. Didn't realize till too much time had passed that I accidentally clicked that box. Datafeedr is a plugin for our estore that parses the data feeds from affiliate vendors and allows you to create a saved search that auto updates old products every 3 days. I had a no index/follow parameter on the category items, but seeing the # of 404s continue to increase, I temporarily removed this parm last week to see if it reduces this now static number of 404s. Google Webmaster tools started showing a ton of soft 404s that kept increasing, while SEO Moz didn't show any of those 404s. I didn't pay much attention to GWT since Google kept saying it won't affect our rankings, and nothing was showing up on SEO Moz. Last week a fraction of those 404s showed up and I am not sure if that's what lowered our Moz rank or what looks like a possible delinking from Linked In and a higher ranking complimentary website directly related to our field itsallaboutyoga. Looking at the Moz graph of "Total Linking Root Domains Over Time" all of our competitors took a similar % hit since between June and the end of July, so I am thinking its more wide based than fat fingered mistake. I fixed # 2, (have to still figure out what to do with most of those 404s, thinking of submitting a request to Google vs 1,000s of 301s) so in doing my review of this sequence of events and using it as a learning experience, where would I assign max destructive value as a percentage? A. Ignoring GWT soft 404s in favor of SEO Moz campaign reports B. No follow from Linked In and related industry site C. Datafeedr, thousands of indexed products through Datafeedr that are no longer available mostly due to WP Yoast SEO fat finger error. I did have the D. WP Yoast SEO, "Strip the category base (usually /category/) from the category URL" E. Global Google algo change Cheers, Michael

Quote "There is no SEO software that can help optimize a site"
Hi all I am a developer for a small agency in the UK. I am using SEOmoz for a couple of our clients and I am also using it to learn from. So far I am finding it a great tool and this forum is also incredibly helpful. Now I also visit another forum called HighRankings.com and this months newsletter is a list of points that are defined as "SEO Mistakes". In it, point number 2 reads: "Repeat after me: There is no specific number of times a keyword phrase should be used in my content. There is no magic number of words that my pages should have written on them. And there is no best number of words or phrases that belong in a Title tag. And most of all: There is no SEO software that can optimize my website (despite the claims of their creators). Use your common sense to optimize your site! Learn how your target audience searches for products, services and information such as yours, and write about it accordingly on your website. Then write to make an emotional connection with your visitors so that they'll convert into happy customers." Now as a user of SEOmoz I wondered what others thought of this comment? Many thanks for reading. Kris
