Does having our products on Amazon or EBay help with our SEO ranking?
-
We have an ecommerce web site, which ranks ok , but we are trying to build up our SEO scores. We're looking at links and were wondering if having our products listed on either Amazon or Ebay (or both) will actually help with ranking of our site? We sometimes have products listed on ebay with a reference to the higher price that the item is selling for on our main site. Thank you.

Here is my experience...
Client runs a large ecommerce site and also creates a feed that is used for the Amazon listings.
When title on ecommerce site = title on amazon, only the amazon listing ranks (images and product descriptions are the same)
When title on ecommerce site is slightly different than title on amazon (e.g. "brand model t-shirt" vs "brand men's model t-shirt"), both of the pages rank in search.
So titles MUST be different in all channels, images/descriptions should be different, but not nearly as important. If you have a handful of products, I'd invest the time in creating several variations of the descriptions/images. If you have thousands, you are better off spending your resources elsewhere.

Thanks for the response. We do indeed already supply our products to both the sites, and we do get sufficient incremental sales. However, we have had some mixed / conflicting guidance as to wether we should use the same product names or images on all sites (our e-commerce, amazon, ebay and even the high street retailers where we list our products). We are considering investing in a different set of images and changing the product names for each channel, but we are unclear if this will benefit our SEO. What would the advise be on this, if any?
Thank you.

I'm sure Google gives special treatment to those websites so we can't be too sure. However, what you should be asking is if listing your products in Amazon and Ebay will lead to more sales/ROI. If yes, do it.
Be sure to use slightly different keywords/titles for your listings so they don't come up as duplicates so that all 3 show up in search results. At the very least, your product will gain more exposure, drive more traffic to your site and open up more opportunities for natural backlinks.

Does embedded content (from my site) help seo
hi i am creating a new accommodation site and will have some great videos on it (fly bys of local beaches and virtual tours of hotels etc). from an seo perspective i have two questions: 1. should i host on my own site or youtube/vimeo - its a new site but in the long run i want my site to get the credit 2. i will be giving the hotels the chance to embed and video content i have on their own sites. does this help my own seo juice and if so is there a particular way it should be done. there will be around 90 well established local hotels in total so figured it should add up.

Example: http://www.shack.co.in/blog/argolinkroundups/daily-trail-game-jams-future-of-mapping-and-chomsky-on-education/ I do this using a Wordpress plugin created by Project Argo for NPR news websites. Right now, these link roundup pages have a very low authority score. Could you suggest a checklist of things to keep in mind while doing SEO for link roundups? Thanks, Abhiram0 -

Seo & Real Estate Site?
I am a Realtor. I am also a web developer. I want to make a site about real estate and web development. Primarily how I use my unique skills with web to sell homes. A real estate website caps it's Page Rank very low. There are not a lot of good backlinks to get when compared to the web development industry. There are millions of blogs I participate in about web development/seo. There are a lot of blogs I participate in about real estate too; however, the real estate websites all have low page ranks. This is obviously because the seo/web development industries know how to build page rank, which makes it easier to accumulate it. It's difficult finding good outlets to get link power from in real estate. How confused would google be? Is there an acceptable strategy to making this a reality? Please point out all of the variables I am not seeing. Pros and Cons. I'm not an SEO pro. I would be going for the keyword Pensacola Real Estate. I would accumulate backlinks from the real estate industry and the web design industry. Help 🙂

Do incoming affiliate links help with SEO?
Quick question: If my affiliates promote an ebook via an e-junkie affiliate link that points to a sales page on my domain, will I get any SEO benefit from the links? Will Google see that the e-Junkie affiliate link 'hops' through to my domain name? i.e. Affiliate's website --> eJunkie link --> ebook landing page on my domain Thanks for your advice! Ian
