How often should I write a blog post?
-
I'm sure this has been asked before but I've searched for it in the Q&A Forum and couldn't find any relevant answer. I was thinking that a weekly post would suffice for my blog because the audience isn't one which would be checking frequently + there aren't very many new developments in the industry I'm in that would necessitate more than that.
However, I was told that if I can't blog consistently 2-3 times per week, I really shouldn't start a blog, as it would need that much posting. Thoughts on this?

Hi Niall! Can you tell me what you're trying to accomplish with the blog? Is the blog a supplement to the website or is the blog just by itself? I have several blogs and my goal is not necessarily to target a large audience. Rather, I use my blog to get my name out there and to write about topics that I really love.

Hi
EGOL's answer makes sense.
I'd like to add also - you don't necessarily need to write the posts just before the time of publishing them. You could have several posts scheduled to publish at certain dates, as long as they were not time sensitive.
Also, you could take what would have been one post and break it into two parts, if there is enough content and it makes sense.
You can also take guest posts, which obviously eliminates the need for you to write them - good networking too. And maybe you'd discover video or screencasts are a comfortable medium. You may be able to generate a 3-5 minute video and get it posted in far less time than a written post.
You could also record audio of yourself or an interview with someone in the industry and get it transcribed for some fast quality content.

Some blogs get ten or more posts per day and others get just one per month.
Both can be successful.
The success of your blog will depend more upon the quality of your content than how frequently you post.
I was thinking that a weekly post would suffice for my blog because the audience isn't one which would be checking frequently + there aren't very many new developments in the industry I'm in that would necessitate more than that.
That sounds like a good reason to post infrequently about newsy items. You don't want to bore people. But... what's wrong with writing some exciting tips and stories about evergreen topics. If you really know your stuff about your industry you should be able to speak about it with enough enthusiasm and expertise that most people will learn and enjoy. If you can't do this then maybe you aren't the right guy for this blog?

Strategies for Enhancing Lead Generation from Blog Posts
Hello Moz Community, I've been running a blog ( www[dot]arrify[dot]com ) for a while, focused on Salesforce. I'm looking to enhance my lead-generation efforts through my blog content. I would appreciate insights and strategies on the following: SEO Best Practices: How can I optimize my blog posts for better search engine visibility to attract more potential leads? Content Engagement: What types of content (e.g., infographics, videos, in-depth guides) have been most effective for engaging readers and encouraging them to provide their contact information? CTA Placement: Where is the most effective placement for calls-to-action within a blog post to maximize lead capture without detracting from user experience? Lead Capture Forms: Are there any recommended practices for designing lead capture forms that encourage sign-ups? Any specific examples or case studies would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for your help!

Hi all, Im thinking of creating a knowledge base with all many asked questions in my company. This could be a great Link-bait source but also nice ranking opportunities i think. But sometimes some new articles are so actual that i also want to blog them.

Guest Blogging Question
Hi Everyone, Bit of a serious question here for me, Is it worth doing a guest post on a blog more then 2 times? As an example one blog I guest post on has a homepage PR6 which I have posted 2 times, now they have requested another guest post but im thinking would it just be better to guest post on a different blog? So my question in simple terms is: 5 guest posts on two PR6 websites or 10 guest posts on ten different blogs with PR3

Should You Allow Off-Topic Links in Guest Posts
Hi Mozzers! Suppose you accept guest posts on your blog about marketing and a guest blogger wants to use the anchor text "outdoor clothing" in their bio. Is there a risk to my blog if I allow off-topic links in guest posts? Is there a risk that Google would consider guest post links as paid and apply a penalty? Thanks!
