Strong Site, Pages, Ranking Low
-
Hey Mozers
This is a question which has been bugging me for a while now
I have an authority site in my niche which has a stronger DA than pretty well every competitor, but certain sections of the site underperform.
For instance, when you search for 'Jerusalem Dead Sea tour', my item, http://www.touristisrael.com/tours/jerusalem-dead-sea-day-tour/ does not appear in the first few pages. I have a page that appears on the first page, but it is less relevant than this product page. This is an example, there are tens of cases like this.
So the question is, am I signalling to Google not to rank these pages, and is there something I'm missing with regards to strengthening product pages in this tour section?
Thanks

Thanks for the answer, Miriam.
So in that case, the original question still stands..

Hey Ben -
That's right - Local SEO is going to based around where your offices are physically located; not tourist destinations you feature. So, local rankings will only be for your offices. Visibility for your destinations will need to attained via organic SEO or PPC.

Hey Patrick
Thanks it totally does make sense, and I really appreciate the detailed answer.
One question though is that for tours in particular, local SEO seems to somehow be a little contradictory to me. Because I will optimize to my location, which is an office, but not a place that any of my customers ever come to, because they are all traveling on transport to different destinations. So in other words local SEO is going to strengthen me in Tel Aviv, for instance where my office is, but not at the Dead Sea which is what my users are searching for. Maybe I'm short-sighted, but I'd love to hear what you think?
Thanks a lot

Hi there
When I conduct searches based around your website and the topics, most of your competitors are doing a fantastic job of local SEO. They have verified listings for Google My Business and are doing a great job of showing Google their relevance to the area. Here's how my search appears.
What I would focus on is making sure your content and onsite SEO is relevant to the searches that users are searching. Really understand your user and what they would want out of their searches.
I would also take a look at the following resources:
Why Good Unique Content Needs to Die
Why We Can't Do Keyword Research Like It's 2010These resources will help you analyze your audience, their searches, the kind of content that ranks for what you need to rank for, and how to prioritize it. It's a great mix of looking at your personas and competitive analysis to guide your focus. You can also look into doing a content audit to see if you can consolidate, update, or remove pages; that way you shed fat or group related pages if needed.
I would start there. Let me know if this makes sense or if I am not answering your question - good luck!

Could another site copying my content hurt my ranking?
Earlier this week I asked why a page of mine might not be ranking locally. (https://moz.com/community/q/what-could-be-stopping-us-from-ranking-locally). Maybe this might be part of the answer – another firm has copied huge chunks of my website copy: **My company: **https://idearocketanimation.com/video-production-company/ The other company: http://studio3dm.com/studio3dm-com/video/ Could this be causing my page to not rank? And is there anything I can do about it, other than huff and puff to the other firm? (Which I am already doing.)

Mass uploading low quality product pages
Hi Mozzers! I have a question on mass uploading low quality product pages We have a huge catalogue of products and our product managers are looking to mass reference 17,000 new products quickly on the website. Obviously, this will mean content will somehow have to be made unique - which would take a huge amount of resource. Apart from this issue, will adding this many new product pages in one go be bad for SEO? If we also do manage to make the content unique, but not high quality - we'll have 17,000 new low quality product pages - will this reduce our domain authority? Becky

Links / Top Pages by Page Authority ==> pages shouldnt be there
I checked my site links and top pages by page authority. What i have found i dont understand, because the first 5-10 pages did not exist!! Should know that we launched a new site and rebuilt the static pages so there are a lot of new pages, and of course we deleted some old ones. I refreshed the sitemap.xml (these pages are not in there) and upload it in GWT. Why those old pages appear under the links menu at top pages by page authority?? How can i get rid off them? thx, Endre

Switch hosting to be closer to site visitors, and 99% dropped from rankings?
Last week I decided to switch for a UK server to a US one at Hostgator since most of my visitors are from the US. About nine hours later 99% of my pages disappeared from google rankings, only a few non-relevant pages are at position 100-200. All decent (1000-2000 word) articles on specific topics, are gone. These pages were getting 2-3 minutes per user of readership and a low bounce rate, so I think they were pretty good quality. Does anyone think it's possible I got accidentally added on a blacklisted IP? Or why would something like this happen. Since then, I've tried switching back to the old IP for 3 days, that didn't work. Now I've filed a reinclusion request with the details. Has anyone had a similar experience? What can possibly cause this massive drop in rankings and traffic? Any help is much appreciated!

How to improve ranking of deep pages?
While this may sound like an obvious or stupid question at first...let me explain... We are an e-commerce website which sells one type of item nationally; for sake of an example which is similar to us, you can think of an e-commerce site that sells movie theater tickets in cities and towns across the country. Our home page ranks very well for the appropriate keywords as well as some of our state and city pages rank very well for local searches. However, while some state and city pages rank well for their respective local searches, others have a low page rank with some not even in the top 50 for their respective keywords. My question is that we aren't clear why some pages will rank well while others wont when the competition looks similar for those local searches. And in today's Panda/Penguin era we are unsure of how to get more of these state/city pages ranking better? For the record, we are quite strict about on-page SEO, 99% of our 5600 pages are crawled & we have minimum SEO errors from the SEOMoz crawls. Can anyone provide some feedback & thoughts?
