No Follow for Social Media Buttons?
-
Our website has all social media buttons for Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Google+ are located in the footer of all pages. These links are set to "no-follow".
Running an SEMRUSH audit shows these "no-follows" coming up as an "issue". Is it best practices to set these links to social media sites as "follow" as opposed to "no-follow"? I am somewhat concerned about losing link juice but perhaps that is an outdated point of view.
Any thoughts??
Thanks, Alan

Honestly speaking, it was some other website, I would have encouraged you to set a do-follow tag but as they are social media plguins, there is no problem with that!
I personally think, anything follow or no-follow both should work fine and it should any affect your SERP positions.
Just a Thought!

Alan, it is an out-dated mind set.
It is good to supply external links to authoritative social portals belonging to the web portal.

Value of no-follow links
I'm curious to understand roughly how much % of value a no-follow link has in building authority relative to a do-follow link? I understand that Google seems consistently and growingly focused on value - ie. is the link valuable in growing the business, irregardless of SEO - and perhaps therefore the no-follow / do-follow distinction is becoming a more unnecessary dichotomy. How does Google look at do-follow vs no-follow links? And how much weight now is really given to one compared to the other?

No follow vs do follow the how to
Hi Guys, Sorry if this is an ammature question, just wanted to know I noticed a few people talking about no follows and do follows for backlinks. Is there suppose to be some way to set you website up as nofollow and dofollow for backlinks? I noticed a few people saying to make sure that some directories are nofollow, i would like to know if I can set this up for my own site as I'm a bit conscious and paranoid about others that might backlink to my site who have huge spam or negative seo etc? Any insight into this would be much appreciated Thanks all

SEO mobile app optimization: multi tag link alternate media per every devices is acceptable in the desktop page?
Hi All, Hi hope someone could answer to this question because on internet I haven't found a clear solution so far: I have: 1 desktop website (let's make www.example.com) and different mobile websites for each main device (let's make iphone.example.mobi; android.example.mobi; winphone.example.mobi) In order to optimize my mobile websites, According to the Google guideline of the above separate urls configuration , I should add a tag link alternate media in the desktop page and a canonical tag in the corresponding mobile page in order to create a connection between them. But, I need to keep a 1-to-1 connection between desktop page and mobile page (Google recommends to have 1 desktop page linked to 1 mobile page and viceversa and discourages the 1-to-multi connections). What I would like: In my case, I have to add the a single desktop page of desktop site (example www.example.com/category1/), 3 links alternate media tag,( one for iphone.example.mobi, one for android.example.mobi and one for winphone.example.mobi). Furthemore, I have to add a canonical tag in every corresponding mobile page of the 3 mobile site version, a canonical tag pointing to my sektop page www.example.com/category1/. Now my worries are: having a single desktop page with 3 different link alternate tags pointing to 3 different mobile websites (one each), is something or not aligned to the google seo mobile guideline? If not, How should I configure my desktop website and my 3 mobile web applications(iphone, android, winphone) in order to follow the Google requirements for Separate urls apllication? Thanks, Massimliano

Block Googlebot from submit button
Hi, I have a website where many searches are made by the googlebot on our internal engine. We can make noindex on result page, but we want to stop the bot to call the ajax search button - GET form (because it pass a request to an external API with associate fees). So, we want to stop crawling the form button, without noindex the search page itself. The "nofollow" tag don't seems to apply on button's submit. Any suggestion?

Infact, the hyperlink from my Twitter Profile section doesn't appear as a no follow link atall on an OSE check of my website. Am I linking social media wrong?

Social Media - big ranks it seems from it
Hi there, one of our big competitors is ranking first for a huge key term. We were wondering how they did it, so i went through normal processes: Age of domain - reasonable. Unique content - a little but the ranking page has pretty much none - meaning panda update isn't applying here, Back-links - nothing special really, not enough to be above everyone in my opinion. Then i had a look at social media shares, over 2,000 mainly as facebook shares. So i went on their facebook profile and it does not seem like they are spamming content on there. Are these shares from users sharing the link? if so can i find out how many per post? i imagine there is a team setup to share this content when it is published on their facebook page? It just seems so very unfair they are ranking number one like this, the content in their site is poor, it's not a relevant domain either. So much for panda update eh? Any thoughts appreciated.
