Yellow Pages advertising and ad sources
-
From experience I've always been telling clients of mine to stay from Yellow Pages advertising. It has been several years now and it seems that Yellow Pages not only offers just priority listings but also SEO and their own version of Adwords it seems.
I received a call from a Yellow Pages sales rep today saying they can promise me 50k impression views for $500/month which is a campaign managed by them and they'll even create the ads as well. When I questioned them on their 9 million sources they have for generating these impressions, if these impressions are local or national they mentioned it works like Adsense in a way. I eventually declined their offer and figured I'd do some research.
If I were to create an Adwords Display campaign with that kinda of budget and do it locally by my city, Adwords forecasts are no where near that kind of impression count, expanding the campaign out to all of Ontario would be closer but still not quite that high an impression count. I'm assuming YP doesn't have as large of a network compared to Google either which also makes me more doubtful.
What I would really like to know is has anyone had any success with YP advertising compared to Adwords recently especially with their high costs for such services? And does anyone know where exactly YP, Google Adwords, Bing Ads get their web partners and sources from? I know there are ad revenue agencies like Metroland that sell their ad sources to such companies and was curious.

Hello!
While I haven't had any direct experience with a YP ad I would have to agree with your concerns when faced with such a high impression promise and vague supply source information. I would suggest trying to work with the YP representative to learn more about what sort of analytic data you would receive on the YP side.
From what you've mentioned it sounds like you are more interested in only receiving local traffic. If this is the case and you're curious about seeing what YP can offer you might want to try out their local search ads which is much less expensive at around $60/month.
Sorry I couldn't offer more information, I hope this is helpful!

Google Product Ads
Hi,
Paid Search Marketing | | ChrisHolgate
I was wondering if I could ask is perhaps someone could give me some clarification as to how the amount we bid on Google Product Ads reflects the product positioning on Google Shopping? We have a Google Product Data Feed which is then linked up to our Adwords account so that we can determine a PPC bid amount. In instances like this it doesn't seem to make sense that one person may be paying 10ppc and another 20ppc when the buyers criteria for sorting merchants was purely down to the price. Since the buyer has the option to sort their products in price from minimum to maximum the sort order cannot be manipulated by Google based on the amount the merchant was paying. As such, how is determining a cost per click figure relevant when the customer is searching by base price low > high on Google Shopping? Surely I should just set the limit to £0.01 and rely on the customer determining the sort order (which ultimately will lead to a higher conversion rate) than allowing Google to skew the results based on bidding 20-30 times this amount? I should state that I'm in the UK. I do realise that a high PPC amount will increase our chance of exposure on standard search pages but my question does relate solely to results listed on Google Shopping. Thanks for your help! Changing Domains - Will a 301 redirect be looked unfavourably for my Ads?
Hey All, So over the next few weeks we are switching over a clients domain to a new one. Each of the old pages on the old domain will have a 301 redirect to it's new contextual page (with the same content). My question is this, we currently have multiple PPC campaigns running for this client and the ads are pointed towards the old domain so the ads will redirect over to the new domain. My question is this, will Adwords look at this redirection unfavourably? If so, then I will have to duplicate each ad (100's of ads) with a new destination URL (since if I edit the current ads they will lose all past performance history). Obviously for branding I'm going to have to probably change the display URL eventually but for now I'm looking at the BIG issues that could occur. I would normally call Google and ask this question but I don't want them to flag anything in my account just in case this is looked unfavourably. Thanks! Jon

Facebook ads to people who like a particular brand or page
Can I target my facebook adds to only those users who like a brand or page? I have an exhibition coming up next year and would like to target those who like the brand page. I know I can target on interests etc but cannot see how I can target a particular page. Any advice greatly appreciated as I am sure others would be interested if this can be done. ThanksJames

Product listing Ads and the product descriptions. How much of a factor is this in visibility?
I've scoured the web trying to find some proof of whether the product listing text uploaded to GMC is in fact a factor in showing up or whether its just the title that matters. Basically, does anyone know if the product descriptions play a large factor in showing up or is it just the landing page text and the title? I also wonder just how much text is worth putting there, it seems there is a 500 character limit.

Trademarked words in in Google Adwords ads - Why do competitors get to use them?
Hi, The keyword I want to use in my ad is trademarked, so they disqualified my ad. The trademark was specifically cited as the reasoning. I tried this across maybe 5 different ads. All disqualified The thing I don't understand is that there are like 10 other advertisers who are actively using this "trademarked" word in their ads. It's not like 1 scooted past Google, there's a ton of advertisers doing it. So how do I get past them or were they grandfathered in or something? FYI... I tried dynamic insert to see if that could my "trademarked" word in the back door, but no luck. Any other ideas? Thanks!

Adding nyc to a keyword in Google Adwords
Hello. If I have a keyword in Google Adwords that is using phrase match ("keyword"), could it be useful to add the keyword phrase "keyword nyc"? Even if I did not add the second keyword phrase, my ad would be triggered if someone searched for "keyword nyc." So would it be redundant to add the second keyword phrase? Thank you!

Cost of Retargeting (Remarketing) Ad Clicks
If you run an Adwords banner campaign with retargeting, how is the cost per click determined? My hunch is that it would be different than text ads in search result pages.
