Huge organic drop following new site go live
-
Hi Guys,
I am currently working on a site that's organic traffic suffered ( and is still suffering ) a huge drop in organic traffic.
From a consistent 3-400 organic visits a day to almost zero. This happened as soon as the new site went live. I am now digging to find out why.
301s were put in place ( over 2, 500 over them ) and there are still over 1,100 outstanding after review search console this morning.
Having looked at the redirect file that was put in place when the new site went live, it all look OK, apart from the redirects look like this...
http://www.physiotherapystore.com/ to http://physiotherapystore.com/
Where the new URL is missing www. - I am concerned this is causing a large duplicate issue as both www. and non www. work fine.
I am right to have concern or is this something not to worry about?

Its really hard to analyze a traffic drop like this without some critical information about serps.
The main guess here is that some high traffic ranking just dropped, that's why im asking about the SC information.
And yes, some of all of these issues combined can cause the traffic drop. I'd try to use the analytics information looking for some specific item, such as a page what recieved a lot of traffic and then stopped recieving -
canonical has now been requested on home page.
SC only shows 1096 404's due to be fixed soon.
Some pages have wrong canonicals, for example:
http://physiotherapystore.com/a60.html has a canonical to http://www.physiotherapystore.com/a60.html?SID=km31jh6kvjfcs45oq0s2qltdc3 which is incorrect. We have a few of these that are in dev to be fixed.
I'm still not sure though if these issues could have caused a huge sudden drop in traffic?
Thanks

- Redirection. Its not neccesarry to create a redirection. Another way is to set rel=canonical
- Its not explicit for me the sitemap. Might be good to add it in the robots.txt
- So the problem goes over 90 days ago, this makes it more difficult.
- Still SC doesnt show any errors?
-
Thank you,
Do you recommend I go into the redirect file and add in www where it is not already there?
I am aware of meta description and there is a sitemap here: http://www.physiotherapystore.com/sitemaps/physio/sitemap.xml
Search Console data doesn't go back far enough to see the sudden drop in traffic.

Hi there,
There are some issues:
- Bad redirect the non-www and www version. This is causing serious duplicate
- Meta description is incorrect.
- There are no sitemap.xml
- Not necesarly an issue: you are disallowing the indexing of google images.
Also, have you chequed the Search Console? It should show any error.
Can you identify whether there was a specific ranking drop (using a search console and/or analytics)?Best Luck.
GR.

Linking to one of my own sites, from my site
Hi experts, I own a site for castingjobs (Site1) and a site for selling paintings (Site2). In a long time, I've had a link at the bottom of Site1, linking to Site 2. (Basicaly: Partnerlink: Link site 2). Site1 is for me the the only important site, since it's where Im making my monthly revenue. I added the link like 5 years ago or so, to try to boost site 2. My question is:

1. Is it somehow bad for SEO for site 1, since the two sites have nothing to do with each other, they are basically just owned by me.
2. Would it make sense to link from Site 2 to Site 1 indstead?0 -
301 from old site to new one , Should I point to home page or sub category page ?
Hey Seo Experts, I have a small website ranking for few terms like cabinets sale, buy etc . However what i have now decided is to launch a New website with more different products like living room furniture, wardrobes etc . Out of all these categories on new website Cabinets is one of the SubCategory . Now I do not want to have 2 websites . So wanted to 301 from small cabinets website to newly created website. Some of the doubts I have at the moment is ? 1 Should I REDIRECT 301 to sub category (i,e cabinets) which is purely related to Cabinets or Do a Redirect to HOME PAGE . As I also need more Authority to home page as well , as this is relatively new website ? 2 Second question related to this. If you have multiple sub domains does it divide the total authority & TF.Or it is just Ok to have multiple Sub domains if needed ? Any advice appreciated !! Thanks .

Possible problem with new site (GWT no queries/very low index vs. submitted)
Hi everyone, I recently launched a new website for a small business loan company in the Dallas area. The site has been live for roughly a month and a half. I submitted everything to GWT as usual, including my sitemap. I am not sure what's going on with the site, as there is no activity from GWT in the impressions or queries. The submit vs. index is 24/3 (and hasn't moved). Also the queries graph on the overview stops at 3/18/2015... On another note, when I go to Crawl > Sitemaps, it shows that there were pages indexed during the month of march and then on April 3 it drops from 17 to 2 and never increases. Google says there are no errors or issues found, but I feel like there's something wrong. When I do site:, my URLs do pop up which makes me believe there's just a problem with my GWT. With that being said, I'm not happy THINKING there's something wrong. I need to actually know what the problem is. The only thing I can think of that I have done is purchase SSL for the site, but when I search what pages are indexed using www. it shows all the HTTPS URLS, so that would tell me that the site is getting indexed without a problem? Does anyone have a clue as to what might be happening? I will attach some screen shots so that you can get a better idea... KQ2366i D5xBNZf mF7kkgW

Site Not Ranking- No Reason Why
I have a client with a HUGE website who should be ranking for it's competitive keywords. No penalties, or bad links. Old domain. Not ranking for anything. Client has a huge AdWords spend and my theory is that it's not ranking organically because of the AdWords spend. I can't think of anything other reason. Anyone? Thanks. The keywords I'm trying to rank this client for aren't even competitive.

My site is always in the top 4 on google, and sometimes goes to #2\. But the site at #1 is always at #1 .. how can i beat them?
So i'm sure this is a very generic question.. of course everyone wants to be #1. We are an ecommerce web site. We have all sorts of products, user ratings, and are loved by our customers. We sell over 3 million a year. So let me give you some data.. First of all one of the sites that keeps taking the #2 or #3 spot is amazons category for what we sell.. (i'm not sure if I should say who we are here.. as I don't want the #1 spot to realize we are trying to take them over!) Amazon of course has a domain authority of 100. But they never take the #1 spot. The other site that takes the #2 and #3 spot is not even selling anything. Happens to be a technical term's with the same name wikipedia page! (i wish google would figure out people aren't looking for that!) Anyways.. every day we bouce back and forth between #4 and #2.. but #1 never changes.. Here are the stats of us verse #1 from moz: #1: Page Authority: 56.8, Root Domains Linking to page: 158, Domain Authority: 54.6: root domains linking to the root domain 1.42k my site: Page Authority: 60.6, Root domains linking to the page: 562, Domain Authority: 52.8: root domains linking to the root domain: 1.03k So they beat us in domain authority SLIGHTLY and in root domains linking to the root domain. So SEO masters.. what do I do to fix this? Get better backlinks? But how.... I can't just email GQ and ask them to write about us can I? I'm open to all things.. Maybe i'm not using moz data correctly.. We should at least be #2. We get #2 every other day.

Large Site - Complete Site URL Change and How to Preserver Organic Rankings/Traffic
Hello Community, What is your experience with site redesign when it comes to preserving the traffic? If a large enterprise website has to go through a site-wide enhancement (resulting in change of all URLs and partial content), what do you expect from Organic rankings and traffic? I assume we will experience a period that Google needs to "re-orientate" itself with the new site, if so, do you have similar experience and tips on how to minimize the traffic loss? Thanks

On-Site Optimization Tips for Job site?
I am working on a job site that only ranks well for the homepage with very low ranking internal pages. My job pages do not rank what so ever and are database driven and often times turn to 404 pages after the job has been filled. The job pages have to no content either. Anybody have any technical on-site recommendations for a job site I am working on especially regarding my internal pages? (Cross Country Allied.com) Any help would be much appreciated.
