How to keep NAP if my company has two locations?
-
Hello,
I am a bit puzzled since the company I'm working with has recently opened a new location. The company's first location is listed in all local directories. Could you please advise me what to do to make 2 locations visible and not to mess up with keeping same NAP all over the web? Most directories do not simply have the option to add another location.
I had to open a brand new Google Business page for the second location (while using the same name brand). I suppose I am getting into trouble with this?

Hi Kirupa,
I'm not sure I understand what you mean regarding 'wrong' information. If it's something you're seeing in your Moz Local dashboard, please definitely contact our Helpsters at help@moz.com.

Hi Miriam,
Thanks for your reply! I'm just looking at Moz and Yext reports and seeing that one of the locations is considered to be "wrong" information. That's what confuses me a lot.

Hi Kirupa,
No, indeed, if your company has 2 physical locations that serve the public, then you are entitled to 2 unique Google My Business listings and 2 full, unique sets of citations. Just be sure that each location has its own phone number, you should have no problems at all. Think of big franchises and the 100s or 1000s of locations they have - and each one is entitled to have citations built for it. No worries at all!

Backlink quality vs quantity: Should I keep spammy backlinks?
Regarding backlinks, I'm wondering which is more advantageous for domain authority and Google reputation: Option 1: More backlinks including a lot of spammy links Option 2: Fewer backlinks but only reliable, non-spam links I've researched this topic around the web a bit and understand that the answer is somewhere in the middle, but given my site's specific backlink volume, the answer might lean one way or the other. For context, my site has a spam score of 2%, and when I did a quick backlink audit, roughly 20% are ones I want to disavow. However, I don't want to eliminate so many backlinks that my DA goes down. As always, we are working to build quality backlinks, but I'm interested in whether eliminating 20% of backlinks will hurt my DA. Thank you!

Blocking certain countries via IP address location
We are a US based company that ships only to US and Canada. We've had two issues arise recently from foreign countries (Russia namely) that caused us to block access to our site from anyone attempting to interact with our store from outside of the US and Canada. 1. The first issue we encountered were fraudulent orders originating from Russia (using stolen card data) and then shipping to a US based International shipping aggregator. 2. The second issue was a consistent flow of Russian based "new customer" entries. My question to the MOZ community is this: are their any unintended consequences, from an SEO perspective, to blocking the viewing of our store from certain countries.

Two domains / same Content
Hi MOZzers, I have recently started working for a client who owns two domains (as recommended by their Web Development company), each omain is a complete duplication of the other. The only difference is one is a totally keyword focused domain name, the other is their brand name which also contains keyword. In a search for blocks of content the keyword focused domain comes up, the other doesn't and when I conducted a search for one of their primary services again the keyword focused domain name came up on the first page, but the branded search also appeared on the second. The web development company have been managing this company's Adwords account and promoting their brand name and up until today I was unaware of the other. Can I have some thoughts - do I ask the web developers to re-direct one to the other, or leave as it?

Traffic drop 98% in two days
I changed my theme on April 12th and within 24 hours my traffic plummeted 98%. I have also seen a huge difference in my keyword ranking. A few things have been tweaked, but with no results. I need to get to the bottom of this fairly quickly. Do you have any recommendations of a trustworthy someone I could hire to dig deeper and find out what the %#^!$@ is going on? I didn't see that SEOmoz does the "hire and let us check it" thing. Of course, if anyone has any free suggestions...I'm open to those as well. 🙂 Thanks Heather

Basically duplicate sites that act like they're two different businesses. How do they not get dinged?
I bought supplies recently at barcodesinc.com. While searching I noticed it is clearly the same site as barcodediscount.com. How do they not get hurt by duplicate content?
