How important is AMP?
-
I have a client site with 200+ landing pages. We implemented AMP and many of the pages lost a lot of key elements including, sidebars, Calls to Action and footers. Our developer claims that we need to customize each of the 200+ pages for AMP to show those things (don't 100% believe him).
So the questions are:
a. How important is AMP? if we dump AMP will that hurt us? The site is already mobile friendly and clean, loads fast.
b.Does it sound fishy that he says each page needs to be cusotomized to show sidebar, footer content, CTAs? -
dk7,
My experience with amp is that it is not necessary for SEO unless you are writing time sensitive news articles or articles based on current events. These are the real amp pages that google is displaying right now. I have not seen amp product pages or service pages from small businesses show up in the SERPS. Amp will remove all programming from the page so it will mostly be text based. Sidebars and other page elements are not usually displayed with AMP pages. The purpose of AMP is to increase the user experience on mobile devices. So these pages have basic text and some images.

Sidebars etc shouldn't be on AMP pages, as they are designed to present the user with the content on their mobile device. They are usually on a separate page, for example, url.com/page/amp, and shouldn't impact the desktop version of the website with regards to different content, sidebars etc.
AMP isn't currently a huge focus for many websites which are mobile friendly as AMP pages will not be shown preference in SERPs over mobile friendly ones simply for using AMP. If you have the option to add it then, of course, go ahead and do so. But if you are confident that you are mobile friendly and load quickly then I wouldn't panic too much over it.

Are DA and PA still important?
I am quite vague about this concept, a few years ago it was quite effective and I used it to evaluate the quality of the website. But lately, I have a headache because some of the DA, PA pages are lower than my website (This keyword doing SEO: Intel core i9) but the rank is still higher.

404 Errors & Redirection
Hi, I'm working with someone who recently had two websites redesigned. The old permalink structure consisted of domain/year/month/date/post-name. Their developer changed the new permalink structure to domain/post-name, but apparently he didn't redirect the old URLs to the new ones so we're finding that links from external sites result in 404 errors (once I remove the date in the URL, the links work fine). Each site has 3-4 years worth of blog posts, so there are quite a few that would need to be changed. I was thinking of using the Redirection plugin - would that be the best way to fix this sitewide on both sites?Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks, Carolina

Different Domain Structure & hyperlinks pointing to them_Need Clarification
Hi, I have a question regarding the Domain Structure and hyperlinks should point to. I know that all of the below domain/URL structure are different. The first thing I have read is that we should do 301 redirect from non www domain.com domain.com/ to www domain/site URL. www.domain.com www.domain.com/ What about the trailing slash, does the Google considers the building links to www.domain.com/ is same as with out trailing slash, www.domain.com Or we have to any 301 redirect for these domain URL format as well. Please clarify my doubt. The same doubt is there for these two URL Structure as well. http://www.domain.com (Root domain with out trailing slash) http://www.domain.com/ (Domain with trailing slash) And if I am concentrating on my Homepage what is the best URL structure to follow whether the root domain or the domain with trailing slash. Can someone please clarify above doubts Thanks Vicky

WordPress & Page Numbers
Hi, I am working on a large WP site for a client and have an issue with duplicate content and page numbers. I am using the Yoast SEO plugin but can't seem to resolve the issue. Let me give an example: If I go to a popular category, for example F1, there are over 10 pages of content for the category and although the URL changes, the Title and Meta Description stay the same. Now...if I was using a template for the title and description I could add the page number variable, but as I am overwriting the template with SEO specific category information I can't use variables and hence the problem! This is such a common problem I know somebody will have an answer! Thanks

Schema.org : reviewCount & ratingValue - best practices for implementation?
I'd like to add our merchant review count and rating to our site and use the schema.org markup to indicate to the search engines what these are. The reason I'd like to do this is so that the star rating pulls through to the organic listing. Check out this example from several UK tight sites. Notice how the organic listings display the star rating... My questions are: Has anyone seen an example of this from Google.com (US site) I heard that you should only add this markup to the homepape - but couldn't find any Google documentation to back this up. Do you know if this can be applied throughout the site w/o penalty? Thanks everyone!

Google Web Master Tools - Keyword Variants & misspelling
We have millions of urls and the technical expertise to write code to fix the spelling of keyword variants Google has discovered and shows us in Web Master tools. Since Google has recognized these as variants, is it worth our time to write code that will fix the spelling of obvious misses?
