Optimized filename management for SEO
-
Hi,
I'm currently undertaking a project to manage better my images and to rank for image searches. My site uses mod_pagespeed to optimises images, therefore image urls are changed to a pretty seo unfriendly url or even sometimes inlined within my page. On top of that I generally resize all my images by passing the desired file dimension within the image url in order to optimise the loading time of my site.
Is there a way to provide a hint to google that I have a much better quality image with higher dimensions and better name?
Can i specify within my image sitemap an image that actually does have different dimensions and a different within the page it serves?
Are there better tricks to achieve that?
Thanks in advance

Negative SEO attack, just keep disavowing?
Hello, Around 2 months ago someone started a negative SEO campaign against us. Each week in Majestic around 50-60 domains appear (all .biz or .eu) which link to our site in hidden code via the exact match keyword. Now luckly nothing has happened to our rankings, as i have been disavowing all those links as soon as they appear in Majestic. (google only shows a few of them, and Google webmaster forum told me that google only shows a "sample of links" and that we should disavow as soon as we see) So only thing for me is to monitor majestic each week and keep on disavowing. I think there are almost 250 domains to this date i have disavowed. Or should i still only disavow those that google shows? (I think not, as those are "sample links")

Optimizing Forums
Hello Moz Team, I'd like to inquire about our forums section on how to optimize them the best way. So, we started a forums section and our audience likes them very much, we were able to get a few hundred subscribers and it has been very active http://violintutorpro.com/forums/ I created a campaign in Moz Analytics and it came back that we had tons of dupe content, all coming from the tags in the forums. We can remove the tags just so we won't have dupe content, but, how can we use each topic as a content on their own. We currently have a few hundred of dupe content.

Geotargeting by IP and SEO
Hi, Part of our site displays localized results based on the user's IP (we get the zipcode based on IP). For example a user in NY would get a list of NY based stores, while a user in CA would get a list of CA based stores. So if CA Googlebot comes to our site, it will get results based on Mountain View CA. Given the pages are generated based on your zip, I'm not sure how we'd indicate to Google that we have results for lots of locations and not just the Googlebot IP locations. (users can change their zipcode, but by default we use geolocation). Our landing pages contain localized content and unique urls with the zipcode etc, but it isn't clear how Google will find results for KY etc.

301 Redirects - SEO Benefit?
Hello, Years ago, our company started out as a Yahoo store. We've since moved onto another website with its own shopping cart but since the Yahoo store is almost 10 years old, there's a lot of history there and it still exists with the occasional order. We currently use it for reputation management purposes with links to our real ecommerce site but we're thinking of just redirecting the Yahoo store to our ecommerce site. Is there any SEO benefit in doing this? We were also kind of penalized by Panda. Would this help us out at all (the descriptions on both sites could be considered duplicate content).

200 Redirects for SEO instead of 301
We are working with a company on re-platforming our website. On a call yesterday they outlined a strategy to use 200 redirects for our top keywords instead of 301s. I am not familiar with this type of redirect and was wondering if anyone could provide some more insight.

Ecommerce SEO with 130 keywords
Hello everyone, My name is Davys and I'm what you call a newbie...so the question may sound stupid....But where we go. In this campaign I will be targeting around 130 to 150 keywords to my store. So here is the technical question. What is the right way of indexing 150 keywords? Should I attempt to have all 150 going to www.mysite.com or should I break it down into smaller pages if I can put it that way. Like www.mysite.com/pages/bikiniwax for example. Even if I break it down, what is the right amount of keywords that I should SEO per page? Or do 150 pages? Please helppppppppppppppppppppp.... 🙂 Thanks a lot for your help.
