Duplicate blog - will it be ok to do so

Hello,
One of our client is interested in creating a duplicate blog under a new URL. We told them about Google penalizing the new blog since it would have duplicate content. Will it be ok to go ahead with the plan ? Their response was there are multiple news sites that carry the same stories. So, they said that it won't matter.

I would specifically like to know about 2 scenarios
1 ) If client's blog ( Say Blog A ) copies the entire content from some other blog (Say blog B ), but uses a canonical tag pointing to B. Will Blog A outrank Blog B.
2 ) But, if the client rewrites articles from Blog B on his blog, and also uses canonical tag to Blog B. From your answer, this will be ok. Am i right ?

Hi John,
It depends on how much content they're planning to report there and if they're going to be using a canonical tag or not. In most cases at a small scale I wouldn't worry too much about duplicate content. Especially as they're sometimes rewriting the articles. Duplicate content is usually an issue in my opinion if you're actually stealing the content and if you're doing it at large scale (dozens of articles weekly).

Is this duplicate content that I should be worried about?
Our product descriptions appear in two places and on one page they appear twice. The best way to illustrate that would be to link you to a search results page that features one product. My duplicate content concern refers to the following, When the customer clicks the product a pop-up is displayed that features the product description (first showing of content) When the customer clicks the 'VIEW PRODUCT' button the product description is shown below the buy buytton (second showing of content), this is to do with the template of the page and is why it is also shown in the pop-up. This product description is then also repeated further down in the tabs (third showing of content). My thoughts are that point 1 doesn't matter as the content isn't being shown from a dedicated URL and it relies on javascript. With regards to point 2, is the fact the same paragraph appears on the page twice a massive issue and a duplicate content problem? Thanks

Why I am a seeing an error for duplicate content for any categories and tags on my Wordpress blog?
When I look under "Crawl Diagnostics" I see I have 12 errors for duplicate content and there are all from tags and categories. I am assuming that search engines are reading the content in the tags and categories as duplicate. Should I set my categories to "no-index?"

Duplicate Content - That Old Chestnut!!!
Hi Guys, Hope all is well, I have a question if I may? I have several articles which we have written and I want to try and find out the best way to post these but I have a number of concerns. I am hoping to use the content in an attempt to increase the Kudos of our site by providing quality content and hopefully receiving decent back links. 1. In terms of duplicate content should I only post it on one place or should I post the article in several places? Also where would you say the top 5 or 10 places would be? These are articles on XML, Social Media & Back Links. 2. Can I post the article on another blog or article directory and post it on my websites blog or is this a bad idea? SEO Moz gives me an duplicate page error as my homepage www.monteverdetours.com is the same as www.monteverdetours.com/index is this actually en error? And is google penalizing me for this?

Why do I get duplicate content errors just for tags I place on blog entries?
I the SEO MOZ crawl diagnostics for my site, www.heartspm.com, I am getting over 100 duplicate content errors on links built from tags on blog entries. I do have the original base blog entry in my site map not referencing the tags. Similarly, I am getting almost 200 duplicate meta description errors in Google Webmaster Tools associated with links automatically generated from tags on my blog. I have more understanding that I could get these errors from my forum, since the forum entries are not in the sitemap, but the blog entries are there in the site map. I thought the tags were only there to help people search by category. I don't understand why every tag becomes its' own link.
