High Spam Score
-
Hi,
The spam score of the site is very high: Guru99
Per Link Explorer: https://www.screencast.com/t/0Tq0rjkAbC
But Moz is taking into account many spammy links that are already 404 or expired domains. If such domains are exluded the Spam score will be very less
Why is this?

Thanks so much for following up! Our engineering team is working on rolling out a regular update cadence for Spam Score but at this time I don't have an ETA on when that will be finalized. I apologize for the inconvenience there!

Once we make the changes... how often are the scores updated or rather when is the date of the next update in the spam score?

Hi there!
Thanks so much for the great question! The Spam Score you're seeing in Moz is not based on your inbound link profile but is actually representative of the percentage of sites with similar features to yours which we've found to be penalized or banned by Google. I have a guide from our Help Hub that talks more about this and may be able to help: https://moz.com/help/link-explorer/link-building/spam-score
If you're looking to improve your site's Spam Score, the best course of action we're able to recommend would be to read our guide which explains the 27 factors used to make up this score and work to improve those on your site.
I hope this helps to clarify! If not, or if you have any other questions, please feel free to send an email on over to help@moz.com and we'll be happy to help!

Spam Score of 28-Cause for Concern?
In the last week domain authority for our site (www.nyc-officespace-leader.com) has increased from 21 to 31. We have been working on local SEO and making other improvements in the last month. I have noticed that our spam score is now 28. I believe it was much lower in the past. Should we be concerned about incurring a Google penaltyY How likely is this with a spam score of 28? What actions should we take? Also, we will be migrating the site to a new domain early this week. Can we use the domain migration as an opportunity to remove links from pammy domains? Will the removal of link from spammy domains increase or decrease our domain authority? Thanks, Alan

Why such bad scores?
Hi all, I'm a bit frustrated because in open site explorer, my site is appearing with the worst possible scores for everything. (see attch.) However, about 2 months ago I published my site onto a bunch of places using the Yext service. I also manually created 50+ additional links and citations as well as accounts on all the major social media sites. So, how come I get such bad scores and even a big fat zero on inbound links? Thanks! bYCpm

How to interpret a possible spam link?
Hallo, Spam analysis is suggesting that my website may have a spam problem (score is 5). When I analyse the single spam links, I am puzzled. the links to my site are actually links in disqus comments I wrote myself on the linking site, in order to aswer REAL question of real people giving them honest and useful answers (and linking my site :-), like the link pointed out in the attached image, also pasted herebelow: http://www.androidiani.com/news/servizi-premium-indesiderati-lantitrust-contro-tim-vodafone-wind-e-3-213235 Most links have this same nature. Has this behaviour (which I consider natural, in good faith) been regarded as spammy? Should avoid linking my site in the comments I write on external sites? the links from comunicatistampagratis.it (towards the end of the list) are from a free press release website: you send them the press release, they publish it. Should I avoid using this free press release site? Should I avoid using any free press release site at all (since they are regarded as spammy)? is there a rule to learn (since apparently I have not been very good so far at using my good faith to separate good links from spammy links) whether a link can be spammy and therefore try and avoid it? thank you for you help.

Could Spam Analysis significantly lower domain authority?
I use Open Site Explorer to track my site's rankings weekly, and during the first week of June, we found that our domain authority had dropped 5 points after several months of being higher than that score. The only thing that was significantly different, in our business and in Moz, from the week before was the introduction of the new Spam Analysis tool. Am I right to possibly attribute the drop in domain authority to an update on Moz's end? And anyone has troubleshooting advice otherwise, I'd be all ears. Thanks!

How long will it take for the changes we've made to reflect in Moz OSE spam score data?
I signed up for Moz to see the spam flags our site had triggered. As soon as I found out, we worked on it and have been trying to correct our mistakes but it's been more than a month and we've managed to neutralise zero flags. I would appreciate if someone can clarify how long the OSE data takes to refresh. Also, how do you combat the following three specific flags: Ratio of Followed to Nofollowed Subdomains Ratio of Followed to Nofollowed Domains Low Number of Pages Found Crawl only gets a valid response to a small number of pages. Thanks.
