Title Tag Targeting Two Geographic Modifiers
-
How would you suggest writing a homepage title tag which needs to target both state and city?
We are targeting these two phrases:
Lincoln personal injury lawyer
Nebraska personal injury lawyerAny thoughts on how you'd write the title tag? I know targeting Nebraska will be challenging but it's what the higher ups want to do.
Would you suggest: Lincoln Nebraska Personal Injury Lawyer ?
-
Good question. I think you can go either way.
Assuming that I was targeting all of Nebraska, not just Lincoln, I would:
Create a page targeting Nebraska and create sub-pages targeting the major cities in Nebraska.
For example:
Personal Injury Lawyer & Attorney Nebraska
Sub page: Personal Injury Lawyer & Attorney Omaha NE
Sub page 2: Personal Injury Lawyer & Attorney Lincoln NE
I would then link to each page with geo-specific anchor text. Once I got the main page high on the first page, I would try to rank the sub-pages for "Nebraska" as well to get an indented listing and take up more of the SERPS.
Another benefit of structuring the site this way is that if you had locations in each city, it would be very good for Google Places.
However, I would only follow this page/subpage strategy if I was confident in my link building strategy, i.e. that I could get enough geo-specific links for each sub-page. Otherwise, you might be walking into a Panda-type scenario where you have what Google perceives as extraneous, useless pages.

Hypothetically speaking, if keyword research suggested that Lincoln personal injury lawyer and Nebraska personal injury lawyer got more searches than personal injury lawyer Lincoln, would you still write the title in the same order? personal injury lawyer + geographic modifier
-
I would personally go with "Personal Injury Lawyer Lincoln NE". Google is smart enough to associate NE with Nebraska in this context (As can be seen by highlighting in the serps) and it's shorter.
-
"Lincoln Nebraska Personal Injury Lawyer" would work. Another possibility is to use "Nebraska Personal Injury Lawyer" for your home page, and then "Lincoln Personal Injury Lawyer" on an office locations page.

Are Multiple Page Titles hurting my rankings
The platform that built our website has, for some reason, put multiple page titles on all of our webpages: https://www.backyardadventures.com/ If you open this page and "View Page Source" you will see that there are 50 page title tags (). There is one with our actual page title, but there are 49 others that look like this: <title></span><span class="html-tag">lock</span><span class="html-tag"></title> or <title></span><span class="html-tag">bubbles2</span><span class="html-tag"></title> are just two of the examples. The company said that because they are in a svg tag () they are fine. The title tags show up on some of the Moz tools. Is this effecting our rankings?

And if so what did they do? Thanks in advance!

Shortening Titles
Have a ecommerce site using woocommerce. Most product titles contain the information needed for the product. I have shorten the title as much as possible but; Most of the titles are about 18-19 characters over 70 characters the recommended max. I have removed all possible characters from the title but I could remove the site name - this would get it down by about 18 characters - meaning most titles would then be just under the 70 characters recommended. Would removing the site name from the title of all the products be a bigger problem than good?

What are the benefits of the URL meta tag?
We have too many meta tags and want to get rid of all the outdated ones. However, we don't want to eliminate valuable meta tags by mistake. So, before we say goodbye to the URL meta tag, we want to make sure we understand the pros and cons, if any. By the way, we are not referring to canonical URL tags, just URL as in:

Website title question
Say you have a website url of a rather competitive keyword phrase, would it be beneficial for me to go ahead and name my site title the same as the url? And also should my site title go through every page, or should i consider having slight variations throughout the pages? for example: page title | site title or page title| slight varation of title on sub page? **edit - to further expand on the question a bit also, if my google places has the company name on _there - would it be effective to go ahead and use the company name in my site title? _ _Also if i have the main keyword in the breadcrumb as the home, does that effect my SEO credibility if it shows up on all the pages? _

Duplicate Page Title
Wordpress Category pagination causes duplicate page title errors (ie. when there are so many posts in the category, it paginates them), is this a problem? Your tool is reporting it as a problem... but ProPhoto (my Wordpress provider say it is not a problem). Here are the 2 URL's with the same page title: http://www.lisagillphotography.co.uk/category/child-photography/ http://www.lisagillphotography.co.uk/category/child-photography/page/2/

Best title tag structure?
Hi, In the below example, which one do you think would work best if any. The website is called greatshoes.co.uk (fictitious) The category is 'work shoes' and a page under this cat is lets say 'Size 9 work shoes' I tend to build my title tags like this: size 9 work shoes, cheap size 9 work shoes | greatshoes.co.uk BUT I have read on here it should be more like this: size 9 work shoes < work shoes | greatshoes.co.uk Does anyone think it would make a difference when targeting for the term 'size 9 work shoes' which title tag I use. Cheers
