How am I supposed to get any work done?
-
For crying out loud. I have a day job. And I'm supposed to be working. How am I supposed to get any work done when there is so much great information that keeps appearing on SEOMoz Q&A?
-
suggestions? "one of those Firefox plugins" or is this something hoped for?
Going to firefox now to search...
-
It's time to install one of those Firefox plugins that will cap the time you can spend on certain domains! Then you will start using Chrome or Safari or your mobile. The madness will never end.
-
Part of this job is continued research!

Time to quit the day job?
-
Well, when everything starts to fall into place you will. Consider this a way of saving time in the future!

Working with Open Site Explorer
Hi everyone, I'm new to keyword analysis, and am in the process of consuming a lot of SEOmoz articles and resources on the subject. I wanted to see if I'm correct in my analysis of two compared sites, and hope you can shed some light on the matter. I've been to the Google Keyword Tool and looked for my informational keywords for the project I'm working on, since the user intent is all about information. A not-so-great keyword phrase I've found with 12,100 local monthly searches is: "programa de inglês" (english programme) I'm just using this as a quick example. I have performed a Google search query for the above phrase from google.com.br (Brazil), and I'm comparing the #2 and #4 results from the 1st page of the SERPs which are: #2) www.programa-ingles.net and #4) http://www.baixaki.com.br/categorias/educacao-e-diversao.htm. What's confusing me is that in Open Site Explorer, the #4 result gets a much higher page authority compared to the #2 result, and beats #2 on every category except for internal–external link ratio and all the social categories. Here's an image attached of the comparison. Is it the fact that the external links of #2 account for 100% of the links pointing to it, or that the #2 position beats (rather pitifully) #5 on social sharing, or is it something that I've not stumbled across yet? Thanks in advance for helping out a n00b. 6HU6hBi.png

How do data feeds work in product selection
Hi – I don't know if this is an SEO matter or not, but I have data feeds to Google, Bing and thefind.com for all of my products. I have no idea if these feeds help. My guess is that they do not generate much business. For example if I type in "Brass Bookends" our products usually don't show up until the late pages. Using this as an example does anyone know how these sites select the order in which they display products? Another way to phrase this is what makes thefind.com show a competitor's brass bookends several pages before ours? FYI we have been doing these data feeds for a year on a consistent basis so being new shouldn't be a factor. Any insights will be most appreciated. Thanks. Don. www.uniquegiftsanddecor.com

Idea for the Best Method of getting REAL Keyword Search Data
I've been using googles keyword tools to get keyword search data, but I'm pretty sceptical of some of the results it throws out on number of searches. On a number of keywords - particularly when you get to longtail, I've seen results which cannot possibly be right. So - I am trying to find out a way of getting REAL data I can trust. Here are my thoughts on a possible method of getting this key data:
Moz Pro | | James77
1/. Firstly I am taking on the assumption that the adwords campaign monitoring statistics are more reliable and accurate than the keyword research tools - correct me if I am wrong! 2/. Then take a load of keywords you wish to monitor and create didfferent ads for them based of EXACT match. 3/. Make sure non of your adverts conflict with each other, so you may have to turn off any other campaigns you have running. 4/. Put you bids and available spend as high as possible, so that ideally you will your ads will always be shown for every search match, and ideally always come in No1 spot on the ads. IE your aim is to create a neutral environment where your ads are shown for every search match and appear in the exact same position for each search match. Run the campaign for a period of time long enough to be confident that you have enough search data. From this you should have the vital data on keyword searches done on your exact match keywords. 5/. Repeat the test, but this time use phrase matches and again make sure there are no conflicts. 6/. Repeat again with broad match - this would require very careful implimentation not to have any conflicts and you would likely need to make heavy use of the "Not Include" keywords. What are your thoughts on the above process? - Any flaws, or other better solutions? Obviously one key thing with doing this is you need to have to be prepared to have a decent budget to get this data - but it won't be wasted as you will also be getting the adwords traffic. Thanks0 -
Unsubscribe to weekly crawl notifications never works
Hello! All of my campaigns have the box 'Weekly crawl completed for campaign ...' unticked under Campaign Settings, yet for all of them I still receive an email regularly with the subject 'New crawl completed for ...'. How do I stop this? Is there a bug here? Adam Bishop
