Hiring an SEO company
-
I usually do SEO myself but now its time to move on to getting on with running the business. I have found a fantastic PPC company who ONLY focus on PPC and am looking for same but for SEO.
Must be based in UK and have a great portfolio of mid/large tier companies with some real life stats to back them up.
Pricing must be clear and transaparent. Results must be measurable.
How would you find such a company? Ironically searching on Google doesn't seem to produce the right results

I had a terrific experience with Zeno SEO on a very tricky and delicate assignment. I am in Canada, Zeno is in the UK and client was mutlt-national.
You can talk to owner, Tom, on the phone quite easily when required and he always respond to email within 24 hours. More importantly, he under promises and over delivers. Very professional and a pleasure to work with -- including cool headed response to some minor crises along the way.

In my opinion, what you should do, is to call yourself some of these companies and talk with their techie director/ceo/seo director. If you know seo yourself, you gonna see fast who knows, who says they know and who doesn't know. Also you can discover lot of useful info about the company, the method/s and such interesting things + comparing these with well-kwnown SEO's around you, like those Wissam wrote for example.
After that is just up to your criteria + the budget/prices

"Ironically searching on Google doesn't seem to produce the right results :-("
OUCH!!
We're nice and high on G for "SEO Company" or at least we were until a couple of days ago when we suddenly got zapped back to 11th
I know what you mean though, some of the highest results are there through monstrous levels of spammy links, and I would be dis-honest if I said that when we were in 5th the other day there were no such links involved on our part (sorry people, I'm well against it but we did have a little dark period at one stage).
I think you just need to ensure that when they say they're an SEO company, that means they cover all of SEO, not just a shred of it (which some do). The suggestions people have given on here are known to be awesome so I'd get on their quote forms

You're asking in the right place now. I would suggest SEOmoz's http://www.seomoz.org/marketplace but its also not really trustworthy. Personal recommendations here are your best bet. Give us an idea of the industry, where in the UK you are based and rough budget
I do SEO for http://www.iln.co.uk/work/ in Spitalfields
Not your typical SEO company, we are completely content lead as a result of 170 years as a magazine company Check out my bio and PM if your around London for a coffee
Cheers

SEO rank down after Magento migration
Since November we migrated our shop from Magento 1 to 2 and our organic traffic has dropped by 50%. We still haven't figured out the cause (or a solution). Are there more Magento users who have the same issue? Charlotte (www.dochorse.nl)

Why does some sites rank with no seo
Why is it that some site rank with zero efforts? I have been working on some seo for a while on my main site and i have been getting more info competition analysis with sem and moz. Looking at the states from this website which tends to popup often in the searches on page 1-2 before my site. This site is not keyword optimized, meaning they arent even trying to rank.

There is no content, articles etc.,
6 backlinks (nothing powerful just 2 directory links and 2 from developer)
Site really isnt even designed to get traffic as its a trade only ecommerce website
I doubt they are hiding anything as far as backlinks etc. as it will get them too many visitors they dont want
The city i am searching isnt even on the page (it is a city within a city so maybe google still relates it)
PA 24 DA 15 Now my site:
Optimized reasearched keywords
175 backlinks
All my main pages have content with images, alt tags, internal linking
full of content, blogs, videos, products (probably 4000, could a site being too big be an issue?)
Site gets regular updates
I probably have 200 citations
All the social media which gets done often
PA 32 DA 20 They do get a good bit of traffic but that is probably the only thing i would see but it would be direct traffic mostly i believe as it would be people going to order regularly since it is a print reseller. They may have some age on me 15 vs 8 years. Could it be some kind of penalty i am not sure about lingering? According to what i know to check everyything looks ok, no shady links accoding to sem. I am working more and more on all the pages but this competittion site really doesnt have crap going on probably 8 pages and 1 page does all the ordering. What the hell does google want from me exactly!0 -
Pixel tags impact on SEO?
I was asked by our IT if switching to a tag management company that removes the pixels from our site and is replaced by a javascript would have a negative impact on SEO. I have not been able to find anything that discusses this: Does anyone have experience with this? Has it caused any issues? Has it caused any issues? How do crawlers see pixel data, and what do they do with it?

Video SEO for Google
I was wondering what the prime factors were to make something rank for a video on Google. Does anyone have any suggestions? I think that length may be important, but I don't know what the ideal run time is. Hypothetically for local SEO, would I be better off doing a tag like "Mercedes Buffalo NY" or do individual tags of "Mercedes" and "Buffalo" Thanks!

Seo site architecture - how deep?
Hello Moz community! We are building out a site for a web hosting/web design company. I am wondering if we should just have home/categories/pages or if we should have home/categories/sub-categories/pages. I am am not sure if by adding the additional level we can create a bunch of mini-hubs within the categories. For example: Home/Web hosting/Business Web Hosting/Small Business Web Hosting I don't know if these mini-hubs within the category are a good idea or if I should keep it as flat as possible? Any thoughts on this?

Suggestions for a SEO Review
I think it would be beneficial to have a third party seo review of the network of sites my team and I manage and was wondering if any of you had suggestions for what sort of tests should be done or that we should expect to see done during one of these reviews. We are a small team who has varying seo experience and have been working hard to make improvements to our sites in the past year. Most of our sites have been completely overhauled in the last 12-16 months and seo work that had not been done in the past has been setup, along with some corrections that may have been harming seo. We believe we are on the right track and have learned a good amount about seo in that time, but it would be nice to have some "expert" feedback outside of our office to get a clearer picture on anything we may be missing or some suggested improvements. A sort of double check on the work we have done.

Slooooow motion SEO impact
I could do with some help if anyone's got a minute. We've got this one client, no matter what we did (and we worked very hard on this site), nothing would really move. You'd get the usual fluctuations, and maybe some very small progress at times. This went on for an age... much, much longer than usual (and it wasn't even that competitive for keywords). Then suddenly, "Bam!" it shot up like a rocket for all it's main keywords and has stayed there since... more or less (and this was over a year ago). It was as if all the work we'd been doing was building up behind a door and then the door flew open so it could take affect. Anyway... it seems to be happening again, just to a different client with a different website (at least I hope that's what's happening or it might just stay non-affected by anything we do forever). We've checked everything. There's no crawling problems, again it's not all that competitive, the site already has some pretty good trust and authority, and it already ranks well for a bunch of stuff. The site and pages have plenty of age behind them too. Any ideas?
