Ways to increase ranking positions?
-
Hi,
I want to discuss the different methods for increasing ranking positions for a keyword using offsite SEO methods.
If your targeting a keyword which gets 20,000 exact match searches a month for a new website then the first thing you are going to want to do is rank in the top 5 within Google for that term.
I know onsite will come into play as well but lets just say you have used the SEOMOZ tools and your onsite SEO achieves a grade A.
So what needs to take place in order for your website to start climbing ranking positions?
I myself would be more inclined to spend a few days creating 4-5 nice articles and offer them up for guest blogging with anchor text links.
I may also use the content on a hub page, squidoo lens, wordpress blog, blogger blog, weebly blog and so on with social bookmarking thrown into the mix.
But will this alone over a period of time (depending on the competition) increase rankings?
Am I missing a trick here???
Cheers

We never give content away. Never have, and never will.
If you have great content promote it heavily on your own site. Submit it to sites such as slashdot, stumble, digg, reddit as appropriate. Make it very easy for visitors to tweet, like and share. Other than that I don't market my content, instead I spend that time to produce more.
Links accumulate slowly at first but then once you start getting a little traffic the links arrive a bit faster.
That's my experience.

I totally agree with you EGOL, you have given this advice to me in a earlier post which was noted, but I suppose my challenge to this is:
How will this great content get links if know one knows about it?
If I spent 2 days writing a piece of content that was the best-online with pictures etc and put it on my website it may never be found unless I social bookmark it.
Would you not say guest blog until rankings kick in and relevant traffic is aware of my site through the guest blogging then start posting my great content on my own website.
If in your experience this is not the right way then just say.
Cheers

I might try a few of those methods, cheers.

Typically, I'd offer an exchange on my blogroll. But, I've gotten links on blogrolls from giving the webmaster a free seo report on their site and how to improve. Also, I've gotten links just by sending an email and informing the webmaster about my site and how having a link back would benefit their users.

Thanks for the response,
Blogroll's are hard to get on though, what did you offer in return to get on the blogroll's?

I myself would be more inclined to spend a few days creating 4-5 nice articles and offer them up for guest blogging with anchor text links.
Consider spending 8 to 10 days making these articles best-on-the-web and posting them on your own site where people will link to them because of their merit.

Hi, Recently I've been noticing that getting some solid blogroll links with your targeted keyword as your anchor text gives some really nice results... Guest blogging and having targeted keywords in your article as your anchor will most certainly help also. But this blogroll's have done wonders for me
Good luck! Jesse

Does More Guest Posts Effect Website Rankings in a Negative Way?
Hello Everyone, On an average I am getting around 20 backlinks for 15 days. All these backlinks are done through proper outreach and guest posts in relevant websites. We have a team of four people doing only outreach and getting backlinks through proper guest posts. But I am worried on whether it will effect my website ranking in a negative way? Kindly get me clarified with my doubt. Should I continue this or should I reduce my numbers?

Why do the best ranking websites not seem to follow SEO best practice, particularly in terms of link building?
I work for an online retailer, which predominantly sells perfume products. In recent months, we have been spending more and more time on SEO, particularly in terms of improving our content, and as part of our strategy we have been working with beauty bloggers in particular (independent reviews, articles etc) to increase the number of links to our website. Whilst we’ve seen steady improvements, we are concerned that some of the key words/phrases we are targeting still aren’t ranking as high as we would like. Some weeks they will move up a few places, but more often than not, they will then move back down. We are more frustrated as we are seeing other websites, which are much poorer in terms of quality content, number of products, etc., ranking quite highly for these terms. From analysing these sites, it seems they are achieving their high ranking from having a considerable number of what appear to be poor quality links. We have been warned countless times to avoid link farms, etc., yet these sites have 100s even 1000s of links coming from suspect sites and it isn’t doing them any harm. Recently, we noticed a lot of our competitors are receiving links from websites such as LinkPartners. When we checked the website, we could see that whilst it appears to be a fairly SPAMMY website, its domain authority (67) is actually quite high. Should we base our decision about whether or not to place a link somewhere solely on how high their domain authority is, i.e. would it be more beneficial to us to have a link with what appears to be a link farm if their domain authority is high, than what appears to be a fantastic independent beauty blog with a low domain authority? Or should we avoid these sites whatever the circumstances? It’s slightly confusing for us as we are being warned about placing links on websites as google is apparently going to penalise us for it, but then we see our rival sites doing well by simply placing links everywhere they can.

Internal Links - How to Increase them, Categories not being considered as Internal Links
Hi All: As per my understanding, Internal Equity Passing Links is a metric defining PA. Now my website has around 65 internal links while few of my competitors have more than 180 links. I am unable to understand how to increase the internal links passing equity on my website, because I can see, more number of links on my website than my competitors but opensiteexplorer does not show that. I am really confused. Please help out if anyone knows something about this issue. Thanks in advance.

Traditional link requests still the right way?
Is the traditional way of link building wherein we send requests for two way or three way links still important? I feel posting articles, blog commenting, blog posting, forum commenting etc are better means to build links... but since I am still new to this industry I may be wrong. Please suggest.

Ranking Inner Pages or the Main Page?
Hello Guys, I am relatively new to the SEO world. So I am just wondering what would be more helpful. Getting the homepage ranked for a list of targeted keywords or creating a separate page for each keyword and then getting those pages ranked? Look forward to hear back, Thanks! Naimath

When searching for high quality links, in a niche area such as real estate, does page rank factor into a search or is page / domain authority the most important factor?
After having employed many different methods for finding good link partners I am now finding it more difficult to reach out and identify good quality links for a niche area such as real estate. Does page rank factor into the search much or is it better to focus on page / domain authority as a major factor?
