Traditional link requests still the right way?
-
Is the traditional way of link building wherein we send requests for two way or three way links still important? I feel posting articles, blog commenting, blog posting, forum commenting etc are better means to build links... but since I am still new to this industry I may be wrong. Please suggest.

Just to add onto Casey's thoughts, personally, if the blog comments are informative and add value, they can be a great way to build relationships with the webmaster and readers of the blog. Generally the blog comments will have nofollow tags applied to them, but nofollow or not, focus on building the relationship and you will be rewarded in other ways than just a dofollow link.
Helping a small PR1 blog out now could bring you a lot of future benefit. The same applies to forums. Spend time adding comments and helping out where I can, and you will start to see a steady stream of traffic and increased brand awareness.
This is difficult for consultants to do for clients. Try to educate them into understanding although they are paying you for 'SEO', they know the business best and should be taking an active roll in contributing to sites within their niche. Give them pointers on what to say and how to say it. Get them into the routine of adding a forum/blog comment each day in the mornings after they check their email.
Chasing high PR blog comment links still work to some degree, but are the search algo techniques of the past.
Hope that helps.
Cheers,
Andrew

Thanks Caser.
But there's a limit to how many Guest Blogs posts one can make, or how many useful tips one can send in exchange for a link. Not to mention these methods are time consuming, especially if I am working on 10-15 client SEO projects. I do understand that 2-3 way link requests is out now, but I thought blog/forum comment posting works. Thats what everybody out there preaches.
What do you suggest here?

Hi KS_.....
Most of the techniques you posted are not relevant anymore
- 2 or 3 way link requests are not that important (unless its a huge authority site)
- Posting articles to say eZinearticles is not worth it
- Blog commenting is not worth it
- Forum commenting is not worth it
- But Guest Blog Posting is worth it!
Instead of sending a request asking to exchange links, send a request with helpful information for the webmaster and leverage that to get a 1 way link back to your site.

Need referrals on expert to clean up "unnatural links" and submit reconsideration request
I just received a manual unnatural links penalty. I was shocked because other than maybe five links many years ago, I've not done anything to get links. The site is very powerful in it's own right and buying links is unnecessary. My first thought was a competitor has done the link spamming on my behalf, any my site is very profitable and the competitors are plentiful and ruthless (i.e. steal my content and use it) since we are #1 for our search term. I took a quick look at my links (via webmaster tools) just now and yes, in the last few months there are tons of links from very bad looking sites that are I've never heard of. It's obvious I've been purposefully hit by a competitor. (What's it called when they do this?) Does Google understand at all that this stuff goes on? Do they even care? On the eventual reconsideration request, if I say that I honestly didn't do those links, would they even believe me or even care? I have read several articles on what to do now. But this is so important to my income stream that I don't want to screw anything up trying to fix it, and I want to get it right the first time. Every day is very expensive to me. So, I'd like to get some recommendations on any experts that can handle this professionally and swiftly. Please let me know of anyone trustworthy that won't rip me off, and if you are such a professional yourself, please let me know. Thank you

What is the number of links do you require your link builder to attain each week or month? What is a reasonable goal?
Hello Mozzers... I would like to get a survey or feedback from other Mozzers who owns an SEO company or manages / hire link builders. **What is the average number of links does your link builder need to attain per week or month? what is their goal? ** I understand quality over quantity but I want to make sure there is a reasonable average to provide them goals and something to achieve on. Of course reward them more if they exceed or get .edu links. What do you institute? What do you think is fair and achievable per website? PS. There is no right or wrong answers here. I am looking for a measurable answer not subjectable. Again just gathering MEASURABLE GOALS.

Should I link to my Press Releases?
I just created my first press release at prlog.org using the free account, which lets you have one outgoing followed link. Question: Should I link to my press releases from my web site? I made the mistake of doing link exchanges in the past, and worried Google would detect it as a link exchange. It would be nice to link to the press releases on my site while still getting the benefits of having an incoming link from a site with PR 6. Is prlog.org a good site for press releases? Is there another one you recommend that is free or inexpensive? Is there any benefits to using multiple press release sites, with different content on each site? Thanks!!!

Link building
Hello all ! I would love some opinions about one Link Building technical aspect from SEOs, link builders ... How important is the number of outgoing links on the page you have the opportunity to place a link ? (from a scale of 1-10 / what about where dose this factor fits overall with your check list , as important to consider as far as link building) Would you place a link on a page with 200+ outgoing external links if the page is ok (not involved in selling links, all links are related with the subject, target page, anchor text etc) or you would go with a link on a 10-15 links per page but not that 'powerful' and not that related (not spammy but more general on the subject that can contain links to some other non related resources). Eg: Option 1: www.whatever-name.com/links.html the entire domain is about x. It has 250 links in that page (in the links.html) all links on the links.html pages are somehow related / resources with x. Your link can be placed with an anchor text related with x that will target a page on your site related with x. Domain page rank : 6 (as a general indicator), Page PR, the links.html one, PR: 2 Option 2: www.some-other-name.com/x-is-so-great the entire domain is NOT about x, just the page. It has 5..10 links in that page (external links more or less related with x - but not spammy) Your link can be placed with an anchor text related with x that will target a page on your site related with x. Domain page rank : 3 (as a general indicator), Page PR, the links.html one, PR: 1 What's your best option ? Thanks !

Inbound links vs. internal links
Which scenario does more to help SEO - A) An inbound link from a low traffic/low page rank site to my site B) An internal link where one page of my site links to another page on my site
