I'm facinated by SEO but the truth is, I don't have the time to do it. I trust the moz community more than some of those other SEO forums out there so I'm asking you all, where can I go to find a good SEO firm who's affordable enough for a small startup? The next part of the question is, what should I expect to pay for services that will really make a difference?
Please don't spam this thread....I seriously just want an honest opinion as to where I can find some credible help.

Here are my recommendations
1.) Look at some local brands performing well in the searches in your country
2.) Check whether they achieve their rankings through good SEo practices (run the domain in opensiteexplorer) and analyse their top links
2.) Find out who the SEo companies are who are doing work for them
3.) Approach these SEO companies for quotes (and if they are to expensive, ask them to recommend another company)
I totally agree with your time constraint (alot of people have this). However, I would strongly suggest you take the once-off time to understand as much about SEO as possible (roughly 10-20 hours), so you can properly understand and question the SEO processes a company will implement for you. Hope this helps. Cheers & Good Luck

The price is really going to fluctuate depending on whom you hire, what you're asking for, the size and complexity of your site or project, and a number of other factors. I totally agree with all of the recommendations about finding someone local. You don't have to stay local, but if you can at least get started with someone local, it'll probably help to expand your (and their) understanding of what is needed and being done. Then, you might have a better basis for deciding on future work whether with a local or not.

Its usually Dejan SEO and Columbus posting on here
Good to see more locals.

You may want to begin with someone, but I really think that you should brush up on your skills and incorporate it into the way you work your site. You should be able to learn on page SEO rather easily, that's how you structure your site, and how you write your posts. There will be a post here on on page SEO. You may want to begin to work on offsite SEO yourself, make sure you are getting the links to your site.
You need to learn about it to make sure you are getting a good value for your money. Learn about it, and then you can see if they are giving you an impact.

hi Mate,
Some advice:
Try to get a SEO company which is local to your area, for example if you live in Sydney - australia try and get a SEO based local so you can have face to face visits.
I see horror stories when people in Aus hire a SEO in the UK and they have a complete link profile from .co.uk domains!!! and not one .com.au at all!!!
Check out case studies and prior work including link profiles, don't be afraid to ask questions, do some research, people can talk a whole bunch of sales BS and rip clients off I have seen some horrors in the past.
By all means go for some one from the SEO market place too, some good companies and consultants in that list.
Regards,
James Norquay

Find a local SEO company or a freelancer with good reputation. It's always better to meet sometimes, discuss the project and talk maybe once a month about the project.
Probably you'll have to pay a one time fee to start the project, on-site SEO, etc, then a monthly payment for link building, new content, social media and reporting.

Schema Markup Doesn't Make Any Sense!! Help Please
Hey again Moz community! I've been trying to read up on schema markup and watch videos multiple times (!) but I can't understand how it works. I would greatly appreciate it if someone can answer these questions: Do I need to ‘markup’ every part of the article? Like “this section can be FAQ snippet, and this can also FAQ etc..". So I guess my question is how detailed does the markup have to be? What are the best tools to use for schema markup for wordpress? What are the best tools to use for schema markup for react web-app? The https://search.google.com/test/rich-results shows if the markup is good for a page, but it doesn’t provide any details. For some articles it says that sitelinks searchbox is detected but that’s only one type of snippet possibility? Do I need to add additional markup for, say, list snippets and FAQ snippets if I want a chance to get those? Thanks a lot! Leo W

My keywords aren't performing for my Umbraco site
A client of mine has just redesigned their site which was pretty small (homepage, about us page and contact us page) and now it includes homepage, about us page, 3 services pages, 5 blog posts and a contact us page. their domain authority is 5, so that gives you an idea of their size. We updated their key pages with keyword optimised content and added the keyword to their meta title and meta description. they're in the process of adding the alt tags and also they need to enable meta tags for the blog posts. Everything is quite in the process at the moment and their organic traffic is low. But I believe that some of the keywords should start moving places for the pages that have been optimised and they haven't. Is there any reason for this? I believe the services pages which have meta tags should have started ranking at least in very low position for the selected keywords. Is there something I'm missing? Thank you!

How will changing my website's page content affect SEO?
Our company is looking to update the content on our existing web pages and I am curious what the best way to roll out these changes are in order to maintain good SEO rankings for certain pages. The infrastructure of the site will not be modified except for maybe adding a couple new pages, but existing domains will stay the same. If the domains are staying the same does it really matter if I just updated 1 page every week or so, versus updating them all at once? Just looking for some insight into how freshening up the content on the back end pages could potentially hurt SEO rankings initially. Thanks!

Changed all external links to 'NoFollow' to fix manual action penalty. How do we get back?
I have a blog that received a Webmaster Tools message about a guidelines violation because of "unnatural outbound links" back in August. We added a plugin to make all external links 'NoFollow' links and Google removed the penalty fairly quickly. My question, how do we start changing links to 'follow' again? Or at least being able to add 'follow' links in posts going forward? I'm confused by the penalty because the blog has literally never done anything SEO-related, they have done everything via social and email. I only started working with them recently to help with their organic presence. We don't want them to hurt themselves at all, but 'follow' links are more NATURAL than having everything as 'NoFollow' links, and it helps with their own SEO by having clean external 'follow' links. Not sure if there is a perfect answer to this question because it is Google we're dealing with here, but I'm hoping someone else has some tips that I may not have thought about. Thanks!

Can buying a sponsored post (for non SEO purposes) on a website where you already have a guest post have a negative impact?
Hi, I thinking about buying a sponsored post about our product on a website we have previously contributed a guest post. Can a new sponsored post make Google think our original guest post was paid for? Thanks, Ori

Django and SEO - Multicountry site - Is Django really SEO friendly?
Hi Everyone, Our client is requesting that we use Django for her project. I am really uneasy about this for several reasons. The client wants a multi-country site that is completely SEO friendly. I love Wordpress and if I had to do this project it would be a Wordpress site with WPML + Yoast plugins site. Questions Is Django SEO friendly and what "plugins" should I be using? Is there a multi-country plugin for Django that keeps or adds typical SEO features? Can you recommend any great articles? Any example sites would be GREATLY appreciated Thanks

What NAP format do I use if the USPS can't even find my client's address?
My client has a site already listed on Google+Local under "5208 N 1st St". He has some other NAPs, e.g., YellowPages, under "5208 N First Street". The USPS finds neither of these, nor any variation that I can possibly think of! Which is better? Do I just take the one that Google has accepted and make all the others like it as best I can? And doesn't it matter that the USPS doesn't even recognize the thing? Or no? Local SEO wizards, thanks in advance for your guidance!
