Stuck with domain: www.kumficars.co.uk
-
Hi community,
I was hoping you could help me.
I have a website which I'm running for a client, www.kumficars.co.uk, and it's not featuring at all on google for the primary keyword: Taxi Knutsford
I have absolutely no idea why. I've produced a campaign report and am acting on it now, but even that didn't pull much up other than a missing meta description tag, which I'm updating now.
Other than that, I can't see any reason why the website shouldn't rank - the competition isn't even difficult!
Can anyone shed some light please?

You might want to add Taxi Knutsford in as a meta keyword as well.
Also, you haven't got any links with the anchor text 'Taxi Knutsford' linking to your desired landing page, just a couple both internally and externally could help up the ranking.
There isn't any text I can see that directly says 'taxi knutsford'. There's plenty of text featuring the words knutsford and taxi separately, but these need to be placed together at some point to create a keyword match.
Like Vitalscom says, you need to make better use of H1, as you currently don't have one. It also may help to make better use of the alt text in your pictures... slipping 'taxi knutsford' as an alt could help.
You may also want to upload a sitemap.
As well as adding to Google local, you may want to add the website listing to business sites such as 118 and Yell if not already done so.

Thanks Vitals, I'll get to work on those changes.
I feel the copy mentions taxi and Knutsford so much that is should at least start to rank in there, the website has been up for 3 months now.

You're big mistake is that you optimized for your company name instead of your keyphrase target. i would redo the title, meta, H1, testimonial, and description on bottom and make sure it has your desired keyphrase in it and don't muddle it up with the word "based" inbetween taxi and Knutsford. Even doing this right is not sufficient, make sure your properly launched into Google local and get some quality external links with the keyphrase as the anchor text.
Good luck.

Any risks involved in removing a sub-domain from search index or completely taking down? Ranking impact?
Hi all, One of our sub-domains has thousands of indexed pages but traffic is very less and irrelevant. There are links between this sub-domain to other sub domains of ours. We are planning to take this subdomain completely. What happens if so? Google responds for this with a ranking change? Thanks

When Site:Domain Search Run on Google, SSL Error Appears on One URL, Will this Harm Ranking
Greetings MOZ Community: When a site:domain search is run on Google, a very strange URL appears in the search results. The URL is http://www.nyc-officespace-leader.com:2082/ The page displays a "the site's security certificate is not trusted." This only appears for one URL out of 400. Could this indicate a wider problem with the server's configuration? Is this something that needs to be corrected, and if so how? Our ranking has dropped a lot in the last few months. Thanks,

Question #2: All of my INTERNAL links in OSE are being indexed from http://www.e.com/default.asp, and all my EXTERNAL links are linked to http://www.e.com/ am I getting a fraction of the link juice because of that?????
Hey guys, sorry for the really long question, but it appears that I am losing between 50 and 75 % of my link juice to my internal pages. In OSE all main category links (left sidebar) are being indexed from the URL that includes default.asp, even though NONE of my external links include that: http://www.opensiteexplorer.org/links?site=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.uncommonthread.com%2FSulky-Thread-s%2F78.htm If you check the PA for http://www.uncommonthread.com/: http://www.opensiteexplorer.org/links?site=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.uncommonthread.com%2F You see that it is practically double the PA of http://www.uncommonthread.com/default.asp: http://www.opensiteexplorer.org/links?site=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.uncommonthread.com%2FDefault.asp **Also, non of my internal menu links are being indexed. ** Look at the menu on this page: http://www.uncommonthread.com/Sulky-Thread-s/78.htm and then look at the OSE information here for the "invisible thread" item from the menu on the page above^^^: http://www.opensiteexplorer.org/links?site=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.uncommonthread.com%2FSulky-monofilament-s%2F54.htm Thanks SOOO much! Pre-thumbs and thanks to anyone that can lend me a seconds worth of advice! Thanks again for your time, Tyler A.

.me.uk or .com domain with hyphen?
Hi Mozzers Just after some opinions really. Basically a client wants a restaurant website developing and had already chosen a name for it as (example) "englishroserestaurant.co.uk". They wanted to register it themselves but unfortunately before they had time to someone else did. Now they have come back to me and said about using the name (example) "englishrose.me.uk". I know these .me.uk names are supposedly for personal websites and not businesses but I assume that, by itself, shouldn't be an issue as there are many commercial sites that do use them. However as all the combinations have been taken I have suggested that they use a "domain-domain.com as an alternative so just wanted to know which option you guys would go for out of: 1. englishrose.me.uk 2. english-rose.com Although I avoid hyphens whenever I can in this instance 100% I would go for number 2 as it's only one hyphen and it's a business and looks more professional......having said that I would welcome any comments or opinions. Thanks in advance.

Is it a good idea to use sub-domains?
Hello everyone! I have a question about whether we should be using sub-domains. We are currently in the process of redesigning our site so this would be the time to do it. We are a reseller of brand name IT equipment (servers, storage, etc...) should we create a sub-domain for each brand for example: hp.domain.com dell.domain.com or should we just use folders instead like: domain.com/hp domain.com/dell does one have any more SEO value than the other? Thank you!

Flag page elements to not be loaded by Instapaper and co.
Does anybody know if there is a way to mark certain elements (especially navigation menus) so that instapaper and co don't pull them? I'm looking for a quick solution (best would be if it was CSS based) nothing fancy like parsing the user-agent. That would be plan B. I've added role="navigation" id="navigation" and class="navigation" to the nav elements in hope that it would work. Seems like it does not; sometimes the elements are present in the page generated by instapaper, sometimes not. Thank you for any replies and have a great day! Jan
