Track keywords of our competitor
-
Is there a way for us to track the keywords of our competitor and so we can use that to optimize our sites?
-
Not really automate the process. You see there's a lot of possible keywords and we are thinking of focusing first on those keywords that our competitor is using. So in a way getting some ideas on which keywords they are using.

I would focus on figuring out what keywords you're targeting (you are an expert for your product after all) and then compare your rankings against your competitors. You can use a tool like Rank Checker. (Though beware when using it as it will search via your profile & IP unless you tweak your search.)

Raventools.com will crawl you site and pick out the words that repetedly occur on your site and then the rankings for those. Thats pretty close to knowing the rank i'd say.
Semrush does the same for adwords as that might show witch words they ar trying to rank for.
But like I said, I would'nt do that since it might not be the words you really want to rank for.

You can't go like: automate the process that you get keywords where your competitor ranks for. Somebody should build a tool for that :0
You can go like: see what pages your competitor has optimized, how he structured his site, see where he gets his links from and with what anchor text and go from there.
And of course you can use the keywords you want to rank on and see where your competitor ranks for those keywords.
-
You can, but I would'nt recommend you do that. You should find out witch keywords konverts on YOUR site and that analyse that data in google keyword tool to find out witch keywords have the most searches.
Go for the words that converts!

Can appropriate alt text be considered keyword stuffing?
Hi all, I just used the Moz page grader on this page: http://giavan.com/collections/earrings/pearl for the keyword "pearl earrings". It's grading it a "B" and the most important issue is "Avoid Keyword Stuffing in Document". The keyword appears once in the title, once in the H1 tag, twice in the body and 31 times in alt image text. We've recently been taking the time to add alt text to all product images by simply copying the product name. So if the product name is "Pearl & Crystal Beaded Drop Earrings", that text is copied and pasted as the product image's alt text. This seemed like the best way because it's highly descriptive and obviously, quick to implement. But if search engines see this as keyword stuffing, I guess we should rethink it. I don't know why Google would have a problem with this - it doesn't negatively affect the user experience and clearly those alt tag are serving a specific purpose. Still, the Moz grader doesn't seem to like it so if anyone knows the best way to handle this (or ignore it?) I'd really appreciate your help. Thanks!

15-20 images on a page / Alt Tag them or not with the keyword phrase?
I have a site that easily has 15-20 images per product page, giving the users ideas of what they can do with the product design. All of them have an alt tag with the keyword phrase in it. There is also an H1, H2, sometimes an H3, body copy with the keyword phrase 1-3 times, bold when it seems like a good time to emphasize it. Just in the images alone, we've exceeded the recommended 15 keyword phrases on a page. Moz On Page Grader says the following: Avoid Keyword Stuffing in Document We've seen evidence that excessive use of keywords can negatively impact rankings and thus suggest moderation. Recommendation: Remove instances of the targeted keyword(s) from the document text of this page to bring it below 15 What's the recommendation for the image alt tags? We'd like the images to show up in Google Images, so they should have the tag, right? What's the right way to handle this for SEO purposes? Someone's suggested naming 1/2 of the images one keyword phrase, and the other 1/2 an altogether different one, not searched nearly as often as the primary keyword phrase.

My Moz domain authority fell last week but so did all 3 of my competitors. What could cause that?
As a loyal Moz Pro subscriber I track my site's authority, trust and links against 3 similar competitors. Last week my authority fell from 61 to 60 but all 3 competitors saw a drop in their authority that week too. Was the Moz domain authority calculation changed? Did anyone else see a drop or has something odd happened to just our market? Any ideas? Not sure if this is something I should address or just shrug and ignore. Cheers

How can i export a historical ranking report which contains keywords with special characters.
How can i export a historical ranking report which contains keywords with special characters? Previously it only turned the keywords into jumbled format (forgot the tech term) in excel i.e. онлайн чат which are in this case russian characters. The way i got around this was to import it into google docs but that also is now converting it into this format. Due to this i 1 do not know what the keywords are and 2 all my formulas do not work.

Cities in Keywords Ranking Reports
So I've been in the habit of creating a master list of keywords concatenated with the city name so I can track my local rankings versus competitors. 1. Is this the correct thing to do to help hone in on who competitive my sites are ranking in the local market? 2. If so, by doing this the On Page reports seem to be totally screwed, because the searches I'm tracking (with city) vs the keywords I want to analyse for on-page ranking (without city), are different. What is the solution?
