Hey,
I'm new to seoMoz and this is my first question (so far it's been great!).
Short summery, I got a website in a specific nitch in google IL, my website is 2 years old.
All my opensiteexplorer params are far higher than my competitor. On the exact keyword I'm ranked #3, wikipedia ranked #2, he's ranked #1. Cant figure out why is that.
I've tried copying his links profile, linking from same site he does. Had partial success but my links profile is far larger in terms of quality and content.
My page is graded "A" by seomoz tools.
Attached my OpenSiteExplorer screenshot.
I'm wondering what are your thoughts on that.
Regards,
Oleg. -
Oops, you're right about the 200, fixed to a proper 404.
Another related issue might be there you might have an advice for, what would you do with the 30 tags in the footer? nofollow, robots, removing the whole block or keeping it as it is - do follow links?
Regards,
-
thats hard to say, it will be affecting your ranking , but how far is your compeditor ahead of you .
blocking by robots is not going to help. in your code it will be worse, as your links will be leaking into the unknown. A un-necessary redirect can lose you about 15% of uyou link juice, but linking to a page not in the index will lose you 100%.
blocking in robots is a last resoirt for serious problems.
My advice is to take the block out and try to address the redirects and broken links.
it is hard for me to know whats going on as i cannot read hebrew. One other thing, your 404 pages returns a 200, this is what they call a soft 404, you need to fix that also.

My website is solar.org.il.
Do you think the reason for my lower ranking is Link Juice Leaks?
I've tried to blocking it by robots.txt.
-
One more think, http://solar-israel.co.il/ has canonical domain issues, it ios also reachable using http://www.solar-israel.co.il/
http://perthseocompany.com.au/seo/reports/violation/the-page-contains-multiple-canonical-formats
-
http://www.solar.org.il has over 1,000 Link Juice Leaks.
here is a typical sample
The link to "http://www.solar.org.il/services/%EF%BF%BD%EF%BF%BD%EF%BF%BD%EF%BF%BD%EF%BF%BD%EF%BF%BD-%EF%BF%BD%EF%BF%BD%EF%BF%BD%EF%BF%BD%EF%BF%BD%EF%BF%BD%EF%BF%BD%EF%BF%BD-%EF%BF%BD%EF%BF%BD%EF%BF%BD%EF%BF%BD%EF%BF%BD%EF%BF%BD%EF%BF%BD.html" has resulted in HTTP redirection to "http://www.solar.org.il/404.html".
something wrong there.
The is also a few canonical isses, pages blocked by robots, if you really have to block them, use a meta noindex, follow tag, so thsat the link juice will still flow.
50+ broken links, each one leaking link juice, example
The Web page contains the broken link 'http://www.solar.org.il/articles/search/.html'.This site has 1,0000+ brokrn links, leaking link juice
The Web page contains the broken link 'http://www.solar-israel.co.il/investing-in-green-energy'heaps of html errors, an example
The page at "http://www.solar-israel.co.il/" contains invalid markup.
The Tag 'p' was not closed correctly, the Tag 'div' was closed instead. Both sites have many other issues in smaller numbers.
I dont know what suite os yours, but who very fixes all their leaks should out do the other.

Can we get the urls, it hard to do asnythinfg without them
The linking shows you have better links, but he does alright in some key areas like trush linking domains. There are many other factors we could look at if we had urls

Does anyone know why some keyword rankings go from nowhere in the top 50 to ranking 1st to then nowhere in the top 50 in the space of 3 weeks?
SEOMOZ told me to ask the question here because they say their ranking programme now works correctly and the problems I was having before with keywords changing so dramatically, even though nothing had been changed with regards to optmisation, is now to do with google rather than their ranking tool do google really change their algorithms on a weekly basis so that rankings can go up by more than 50 to ranking 1st to then going down by more than 50? Any hints or tips from anyone on I can keep the rankings more consistent (maybe dropping or increasing by one or two places week by week rather than changing by over 50 positions?)

Seomoz crawler problems
I have had Seomoz for about a month. It has crawled about 1000 pages. I have about 10,000 pages total for the site. Why are these others being a problem? I have contacted help but the guy isn't any help, we have just been going back and forth for the last two weeks. Any suggestions?

What value am I getting from SEOmoz?
Okay, I've been using the trial version of SEOmoz for almost a week, but, I'm just not sure what to do with it to be honest. I'm not an SEO expert, so, a lot of the terminology and reports are confusing. So far the only thing I've found useful are the domain and page duplication errors, but, I can get the same info from Google Webmaster Tools. Am I missing something? We have a very simple site for a small business, not sure I can justify $99 per month for a service I don't really understand. Is this service more for SEO professionals than business owners? -Tom

On page links tool here at Seomoz
Hi Seomoz - first of all, thanks for the best SEO tools I have ever worked with (this is my first question in this forum, and also I just subscribed as a paying customer after the 30 days trial you guys offer). My question: After having worked for several weeks on getting the numbers of links in our forum on www.texaspoker.dk down, we are somewhat surprised to see that we didn't succeed in getting lower numbers. For instance, this page: http://www.texaspoker.dk/forum/aktuelle-konkurrencer/coaching-projekt-bliver-du-den-udvalgte has (that's what Seomoz seo tool tells us): 239 on page links. Can this really be true? We can't find these links, and we actuually did a lot to lower the numbers of links, for instance the forum members picture was a link before, and also there was a "go to top" link in each post in the forum. Thanks a lot.

Can you set-up a manual SEOmoz crawl?
I received a crawl report yesterday, made some site changes, and would like to see if those changes were done correctly. Rather than wait a week for my automatic crawl to be generated, is there anyway to initiate a manual crawl on a single subdomain as a PRO member? As a PRO member, you can schedule crawls for 2 subdomains every 24 hours, and you'll get up to 3,000 pages crawled per subdomain. When we've finished crawling, your reports will be sent to your PRO email address, which is currently From here... http://pro.seomoz.org/tools/crawl-test

Duplicate page error from SEOmoz
SEOmoz's Crawl Diagnostics is complaining about a duplicate page error. I'm trying to use a rel=canonical but maybe I'm not doing it right. This page is the original, definitive version of the content: https://www.borntosell.com/covered-call-newsletter/sent-2011-10-01 This page is an alias that points to it (each month the alias is changed to point to the then current issue): https://www.borntosell.com/covered-call-newsletter/latest-issue The alias page above contains this tag (which is also updated each month when a new issue comes out) in the section: Is that not correct? Is the https (vs http) messing something up? Thanks!

SEOmoz LDA tool experience?
http://www.seomoz.org/labs/lda Does anyone presently use this tool as a regular part of their SEO analysis? Does anyone have any updates regarding this tool? It is still in the lab despite no updates for over 6 months. Is it being retired? Or promoted to production? If you do use the tool, what % of relevance is your goal when optimizing pages?
