What is the Best Way to Site Structure My New Content?
-
I am about to start adding some serious content to my site in hopes of providing more info to my visitors and to build organic traffic. I am looking for the best structure and places to put my inbound links.
My website is tradethink.com and we specialize in trading systems for the commodities markets. I am going to be adding content about the particular commodities markets we follow; gold, soybeans, crude oil, etc.
From my research I see it is best to place as many inbound links as possible to the content pages. On the other hand I see that it is important for the site to be user friendly and not have to much link clutter on the home page.
I have a few options. Lets use "gold trading" instance.
1. Have individual links on the home page and most other internal pages that link directly to tradethink.com/gold-trading.html (lots of link clutter, but best SEO?).
Problem is that I am doing this for like thirty pages and would have an additional thirty links on all of my pages. A possible work around is to place these individual links at the bottom of my pages.
2. Have home page and other internal pages link to tradethink.com/trading/ (just 1 link to add to each page), with the individual link still going to tradethink.com/gold-trading.html.
Here I am adding a folder "/trading/" to place all of the links in, but when you click on the link inside the trading folder it goes to tradethink.com/gold-trading.html and bypasses the /trading/ folder to get better SEO, shorter url?
3. Have home page and other internal pages link to /trading/, with the individual link going to /trading /gold-trading.html
This seems the proper way, but am I giving up link juice by going to trading/gold-trading.html vs #2 above going direct to /gold-trading
Any advise/questions appreciated.

I think you should worry less about SEO best practices, which you seem to have a firm grip on, and more about how your customers would navigate through your website to find these pages. What are they looking for? What are your competitors doing? What feels natural? What do you want your navigation to look like? How could you naturally clusters your different type of pages? What would /trading look like?

What will the SECOND link from a site do for me
Say I have an opportunity to get another link from a high authority site that has already linked an important article from me (a page I REALLY want to rank well). Now a month later, they are interviewing me and asking what I'd like to link. I have plenty of good content I can offer, but I really want that page they already linked to to climb a bit in the rankings. So my question is, how is that second link best spent? Would linking to the same page give it a boost? Or does Google see it as "oh. Another link from the same domain. Yippee." Would that link do more for a different page on my site at this point?

Domain Authority and Fixing the site
Ok, so let's say I have a page on my site that says "Find a Personal Injury Lawyer Boston" Obviously that is very competitive and it is hard to get links for. However somewhere else on my site I have an article that says "10 mistakes to avoid when making a will." In theory, if I can get links to the "Making a Will Page", that increases the domain authority of my entire site, and boosts the likelihood of ranking for "Find a personal injury lawyer Boston." Is this correct? Let me know and thanks for your help!

Fake SEO Site
What do you think of this site? This is the top, number ranking site in Halifax, UK. No authority, no backlinks and high keyword density considering the low amount of content. http://www.maknetic.co.uk/ Search term is SEO Halifax. How is it number 1? There's nothing in it and no user value at all!

How do you optimize your site for surrounding areas?
For example, If I am optimizing a site for a dentist in West Palm Beach, Florida (the primary city) how do I ensure I am also optimizing my site for the smaller cities/towns that are part of West Palm Beach like Royal Palm Beach, Wellington etc.? If I am using "West Palm Beach" in my site and page titles etc., how do I also rank for the smaller cities? What are the basic tactics in terms of on-site and linking? For instance, lets say I offer Botox in West Palm Beach...how do I also optimize for Wellington, Royal Palm Beach and other local cities? Do I really have to create unique Botox content for each city? Thanks!

GWT Best For Link Checking?
Even though GWT's Links to your site is about a month behind I am finding that it reports new links faster than either OSE or Majestic. Has anybody found anything more current than GWT?

Linking strategy between my own sites
Hi, I have one main site, let's call it food.com I also have 10 smaller sites, let's call them mexicanfood.com, indianfood.com, italianfood.com etc food.com is on its own separate dedicated server the 10 smaller sites are all on a shared IP in hostgator I don't want Google to think that I have created the 10 sites for only purpose of creating links to each other. So, would you recommend that all those 10 sites link to each other? or should there be no interlinking within those 10 same IP domains? What about linking from those 10 sites to my main site? How should I structure my own backlinks not to get penalized by Google ?
