How to design a site map page for users (not for Google)
-
I would like to design a site map for my visitors so they can have a quick view on the whole content of the website.
2 questions :
1 - is this kind of site map can help in terms of SEO ?
2 - if so, what are the best practices to design it ?
Thanks in advance.

User orientated sitemaps can be useful, but it is dependent on the site. Certainly I remember coding them (and writing them out manually - the horror!) for a long time before Google et al started reading xml sitemaps.
Depending on the site structure they can use useful for SEO too. I would say this is particularly the case where for medium sized sites that do not have the best site architecture. In those cases a sitemap can provide a nice fast route in to deeper content for spiders. Potentially useful.

I guess the answer is to make the site map as "usable" and intuitive for the user. This will largely be down to the number of levels in your site architecture and the number of pages. If you have thousands you won't want to show them all, but then a site search tool would make more sense.
The example you have given is fine in all these respects, but its for a basic site.

We use the standalone version from XML site maps which generate our sitemaps daily - (http://www.xml-sitemaps.com/). They have a free version on their site that you can use to generate a sitemap from the web. Their are other services like theirs out there.

Unsolved Should I combine pages?
Hi, Im not sure of the correct route to take here... We are a training provider and I manage the website. The main course offered is the transport manager CPC. Currently, I have a "catch all" landing page which links to each different course option: Landing page > Classroom Online Self study Distance learning The main keyword revolves around "transport manager cpc" I want searchers to land on the online page is they search "online transport manager CPC" for example but I think its confusing Google. I'm wondering if I should de-index the store pages (although some perform very well) and increase the content on the main landing page to rank for every related keyword on that page. Initially, I wanted to devalue the landing page in favor of the store pages but I'm unsure if that's the right way to go. I've stripped out the bulk of the keywords and content and shifted it to each individual page. but as above, Im now unsure if that's the right route to take. Any help would be greatly appreciated 👍 Thanks

Can you have more than 1 site on the first page if site look and content is completely different but keywords are the sam.
I have a client that wants to build another completely different site than his main site and optimize it to have 2 websites on the first page for his keywords. The content and look and feel of the website would be completely different. One of his competitors is doing it and getting away with it. What is your advice.

Moving Top rank Page urls off my Home page and nesting them on one page? Good idea?
I am basically trying to cut down the amount of links on my home page to make it less eye boggling and move stuff around. So i have of my Urls on my home page that lead to pages that rank very well within google. My questions is can i remove those urls to a separate page to group them together and then showcase that one link to that page on my home page. Is that a good idea or i am going to loose my link juice and position in search? The physical urls on those pages wont change at all.

ON SITE SEARCH INDEXED BY GOOGLE - no follow or no index
Google indexes alll our internetal searches: search box is brand - clothes types - size type - and for each page it creates a page that which creates duplicate page title and unnecessary content. Should I do a nofollow on the advance search or a no index. Many thanks for the info. Sonja

Does a page's url have any weight in Google rankings?
I'm sure this question must have been asked before but I can't find it. I'm assuming that the title tag is far more important than the page's url. Is that correct? Does the url have any relevance to Google?

Should our social network put all of our member profiles in the site map?
We're working on some changes to our site and want to add a site map file to give some hints to search engines on our member profiles. Our site has millions of member profiles. I want to ensure that Google indexes them. Is there a benefit to submitting millions of profiles across multiple site maps? Is it better to pick a sample of those and submit them? Most member profiles have links to other member profiles. Is there any benefit to taking a single site map of 50k links and then changing it at some frequency so that all of the member profiles are eventually indexed? Thanks.
