Does the Moz Toolset offer anything like Raven's Backlink Explorer from fresh index
-
It seems like a useful feature where I can see what backlinks look like right now vs. the last monthly Moz dataset update. That is mostly because my site is new, but wondered if I was missing something.
Thanks, Steven

Hi Steven,
You are correct in noting that SEOmoz does not have this functionality at this time. We are working actively on expanding the size and quality of our main index, which is published monthly, but I totally agree that it can be frustrating to wait to see new links when you are working on a new site.
As Doug mentioned in his response, we are working toward a separate fresher index which works quite differently, but this is still a little ways out. We will be sure to share more about it as progress continues.
Thanks for the question, and good luck with the new site!

Hi Steven, I don't think you're missing anything. I think you'll just need to joining the rest of us waiting with baited breath for the next linkscape update to see how we'll we've been doing with our link building. The good news is that you can always spend the time building more links!
In a recent blog post from Rand, he mentions:
"As part of those efforts, we've been working toward an experimental index that leverages a more search-engine style crawler that crawls fresher pages/sites more often and less fresh stuff less frequently"
So maybe there's hope! The blog post is here:
Interim Linkscape Update for January
It is frustrating when you're working on a new site though!

Backlink profile from Open Site Explorer does not seem to update
I have been monitoring our backlink profile on Open Site for over a year now and despite getting a number of new domains linking to us they are not reflected in the tool. Our URL is: www.BlueLinkERP.com Any thoughts on why this might be the case? The number of linking domains also seems very low compared with other tools we use (i.e. HubSpot)

Moz vs google data conflict?
Hi there, I am doing an SEO site audit for a client(giveaway, and here is the problem: when performing site:domain.com on google --> 13,800 pages were found When I see this number it seems to be a bit too much compare to the links i checked on integrity(link check for broken links) which gave me a result of 1291. I digged in more into the Google results and saw hundreds(maybe thousands) of pages that are blocked by robots.txt. So I am thinking, ok this is it, thousands of pages can't be crawled by the search engines. Here is the big BUT though, then I check at my moz crawl (see attachment) and no pages are blocked by the SEs, and then look at the dups, only 23 recorded?? Is Moz not crawling properly the 13,800 results that google finds or is this some magical phenomenon happening here? I am really confused here that is why I need some help here! Thank you guys! What Are Roger's Super Powers?
I ended up with a box of SEOMOZ swag. (Thanks! As to how this came to pass...I shall draw a veil, as they used to say in Victorian novels.) My upstairs neighbour Max, age 5, enjoys a rich fantasy life and is very much into superheroes and costumes. Naturally, he ended up with a lot of the Roger stickers. Alas, I was unable to answer all of Max's questions. When he asked: "What does Roger do?" I replied: "Roger makes your computer work." Pretty good, I thought. But then Max asked: "What does the antenae do?" I was kind of stumped. Then it got worse. Max asked what Roger's superpowers are and if he could beat Spiderman. I tried to change the subject. Max wasn't impressed. What are the answers? Enquiring five year old minds want to know!

Working with Open Site Explorer
Hi everyone, I'm new to keyword analysis, and am in the process of consuming a lot of SEOmoz articles and resources on the subject. I wanted to see if I'm correct in my analysis of two compared sites, and hope you can shed some light on the matter. I've been to the Google Keyword Tool and looked for my informational keywords for the project I'm working on, since the user intent is all about information. A not-so-great keyword phrase I've found with 12,100 local monthly searches is: "programa de inglês" (english programme) I'm just using this as a quick example. I have performed a Google search query for the above phrase from google.com.br (Brazil), and I'm comparing the #2 and #4 results from the 1st page of the SERPs which are: #2) www.programa-ingles.net and #4) http://www.baixaki.com.br/categorias/educacao-e-diversao.htm. What's confusing me is that in Open Site Explorer, the #4 result gets a much higher page authority compared to the #2 result, and beats #2 on every category except for internal–external link ratio and all the social categories. Here's an image attached of the comparison. Is it the fact that the external links of #2 account for 100% of the links pointing to it, or that the #2 position beats (rather pitifully) #5 on social sharing, or is it something that I've not stumbled across yet? Thanks in advance for helping out a n00b. 6HU6hBi.png

Do I need backlinks?
Hi, My theory is yes I do. But the problem I have is a small budget and competitors who have a big one. My problem is we have a small number of external links and linking root domains. My profile from a domain analysis read like this in March and then May... External Followed Links - Mar 103 | May 257
Moz Pro | | YNWA
Total External Links ------- Mar 114 | May 276 Total Links ------------------- Mar 5,577 | May 24,425 Followed Linking Root Domains - Mar 24 | May 47
Total Linking Root Domains ------- Mar 30 | May 55 As you can see, progrss is being made considering I do this part time for a family website. But what I need is a big bump in these numbers as my 3 compeitors are pulling in silly numbers such as 308, 7000 and 45000 external followed links. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to compete with this realisticy without spending a fortune? I am putting the time and effort in so anything you guys can do to help the better. I am using twitter and facebook quite a bit, and seen growth on Twitter go from 40 to 1,350 followers over 7 months. Visits to the site over 7 months have gone up 50% as well. However sales are still looking about 10-15% up on previous year. I need more links coming into the site don't I? And what is the most important part of the Domain Analysis, what shoudl I want to increase first and foremost? Any ideas? Cheers Will0
