No Follow and reciprocal links
-
I just wondered by adding no follow to a reciprocal link (one link only not the link on both sites) does it become a one way link? I have some reciprocal link partners who are more interested in traffic from my site than link juice which is irrelevent to them. Am I better adding no follow to those links at my end?

If you have a link on your page, and it's not to a shady website, best practice is to leave it normal. As Mr. Hussaini said, "Adding Nofollow couple of years ago could have saved your SEO juice and passed on to other dofollow pages, but as of now, that nofollow goes into a blackhole".
-
I would give them a normal link. The better they rank the more traffic you get, the more power they have the more they send back to you.
As long as these links are useful to visitors and in places that they will see with the content I don't think that the fact that they are recip is important.
Great websites link to other great websites every day.

So as the link juice is only flowing one way does that mean I will benefit from adding no follow to such a link?

Adding Nofollow couple of years ago could have saved your SEO juice and passed on to other dofollow pages, but as of now, that nofollow goes into a blackhole so it hardly matters much.
However, if the site your linking to a shady site or a site that is in a shady neighbourhood, you definitely want to use nofollow for that - otherwise you could be part of that shady neighbourhood yourself. In my opinion, a lot of these sites that exchange links leave lot of messy traces behind and do not have a clean profile. If I were you, I would most likely put a nofollow or even more likely, I'd putting my efforts in different strategies like guest blogging.

Hi Samuel,
I don't think so - because if if u put the link no follow the search engine can still see(find) the link on your page - so they know that it is a reciprocal link - even if they don't follow the link to the other page.Harry

Search engines still follow "nofollow" links they just dont count them, however a reciprocal link is not necessarily harmfull if there is good relevancy between the sites.

Exchanging Follow/No-Follow Links with Parnter Site
Hi all, Wondering how Google would interpret the exchange of a no-follow link for a follow link between partner websites. I have a potential referral relationship with a business in my niche and we are hoping to cross-market. The goal would be for my link on his page to be a follow link, while the link to his business on my page would be a no-follow. Would my site get the benefit of a natural link in that scenario or would the two essentially 'cancel each other out' regardless of the follow/no-follow nature of the link? Thanks in advance for any help! -Rich

If you discount a subscription when the client links to you, does that classify as a paid link?
For example, we all subscribe to MOZ, but if we received a 25% discount on our subscription if we linked back, would that be considered by Google as a paid link, or would it be seen as a sales tool / promotion?

Followed links from one of our biggest channel?
Hi everyone, I have a new client that's a huge company and has a disastrous ranking. It's a Human Resources company that among other things, they post job offers on their site in which people have to register to apply. As a channel to outreach more people, they are using a popular site for job offers on the country. There, the job position is described and they tell users to apply within this channel or on their own site. But there's no actual link to their site. Will Google find it spammy to post their site's link for that specific job offer on this channel on every job description? No competitor is doing it so it made me doubt a little bit. NOTE: The job offer channel doesn't allow us to "nofollow" a link. All the links are followed. Thanks to any suggestion.

Reciprocal linking across holding
Hi there, I was wondering if the following setup might be harmful for SEO of is frowned upon by Google: I manage a couple of websites that belong to a specific company within a holding company. What is allowed regarding reciprocal linking? The current setup is like this: Site A: one-page general website about the holding, links to sites B, C, D on the homepage (follow link) Site B: website for a specific company branch, links to SITE A in the footer of each page (follow link) Site 😄 website for a specific company branch, links to SITE A in the footer of each page (follow link) Site 😧 website for a specific company branch, links to SITE A in the footer of each page (follow link) Sites B,C,D don't link to each other, which is a good thing I guess, but should I change the links to nofollow, or is this not so harmful?

I have quality links coming in but with year terms such as 2012 in there, if i want to change them all to 2013 for example would it be badly seen by Google? I cant say i feel comfortable about doing it but they are my links and are related to our products. Any advice much appreciated.

Link building
I have two separate websites on different servers and was wondering that since reciprocal links effectively eliminate each other, I'm curious if this link strategy will keep the links counting. Here's the strategy: I will have someone link to my site A and if i link to their site from my site B in a three way link strategy, will the links count even though both my site A and B have me listed as the Whois so Google knows that both sites are owned by me? Or will the links be discounted as reciprocal? Thanks in advance for your feedback! Take care, Ron
