Internal site referrers
-
Hi,
So I have a segment of my website-let’s call it /examplea, I am trying to figure out how many visits I have to /examplea from all other areas of my website i.e. /exampleb, /examplec etc to /examplea so almost internal site refers to a particular segment of my website,
Any thoughts on how to do this within Google analytics ?

Thanks for the responses, I am also testing with setting up new profiles and filters but i dont think i will be going along the road of new code on every page
Thank you,
Marc

This is mostly right. The issue is that only the top 10 referring internal pages will be shown in this report.
If a fuller look is needed, one option is resorting to the API. GA definitely has the data, just doesn't have a report to show it.
It does not appear that custom reports can help with this either.
Currently (for my own curiosity), I'm testing if setting up a new profile and some filters would work. I can report back if it's of interest.
The most extreme solution I can think of would be to include an entirely new tracking snippet on every page in that section of your site. That would certainly work.

In the new Google Analytics interface: Content --> Site content --> Pages --> find and click on your page --> select the Navigation summary tab (it's above the graph) --> Have fun

"Display" referrals on google analytics
We have just had 200+ visits on the 'Display' channel within 5 minutes - these referrals are from all over the world and this is very out the ordinary for our business - should we be concerned? 9cHllwW

Some goal conversion in Google analytics showing under referral
Yesterday I have created Google analytics account for a new website but few goal conversions comes from payment gateway site (paypal.com, epdq.co.uk) and showing under referral. How to fix this issue so I can know the real source of Goal conversion. *Note - utm_nooverride=1 on thank you page applied, payment gateway URL is already placed in Referral Exclusion List. So please don't suggest either of them. Thanks

URL Formatting for Internal Link Tagging
After doing some research on internal campaign link tagging, I have seen conflicting viewpoints from analytics and SEO professionals regarding the most effective and SEO-friendly way to tag internal links for a large ecommerce site. It seems there are several common methods of tagging internal links, which can alter how Google interprets these links and indexes the URLs these links point to. Query Parameter - Using ? or & to separate a parameter like cid that will be appended to all internal-pointing links. Since Google will crawl and index these, I believe this method has the potential of causing duplicate content. Hash - Using # to separate a parameter like cid that will be appended to all internal-pointing links. Javascript - Using an onclick event to pass tracking data to your analytics platform Not Tagging Internal Links - While this method will provide the cleanest possible internal link paths for Google and users navigating the site and prevent duplicate content issues, analytics will be less effective. For those of you that manage SEO or analytics for large (1 million+ visits per month) ecommerce sites, what method do you employ and why? Edit* - For this discussion, I am only concerned with tagging links within the site that point to other pages within the same site - not links that come from outside the site or lead offsite. Thank you

Site operator result anomaly
"Site:" search for site:http://www.mycity4kids.com/Bangalore/activity-based-approach is showing 76 results.I am using SERPS Redux to collect all the indexed pages, but when I re-checked indexed status of these pages using "site operator" google showed that these pages are not indexed. What is the possible explanation for this? Thanks

One big site for a loose theme or multiple sites for each specific theme?
Hi, Our company produces content related to one loose overall theme. Within that we write content and sell products on three specific sub-themes. Some of our customers cross over and have an interest in two or all three themes and others are only interested in one. At present we have one site covering reviews of products relating to all three sub-themes... ....and three other sites offering how-to guides and tutorials dedicated to each sub-theme. We do not have a lot of time to commit to SEO and so we are considering merging the content we have on all three subjects into the one site covering them all. Each of these sub-themes could have websites in their own right and my worry is that it will be harder to rank for these subject specific terms if the content is not on a site dedicated to that subject. But of course if they were all together then any links we build will be consolidated into one big site. Does anyone have any experience of this or have any advice on what the best thing to do would be? Thanks for your help!

Something strange going on with new client's site...
Please forgive my stupidity if there is something obvious here which I have missed (I keep assuming that must be the case), but any advice on this would be much appreciated. We've just acquired a new client. Despite having a site for plenty of time now they did not previously have analytics with their last company (I know, a crime!). They've been with us for about a month now and we've managed to get them some great rankings already. To be fair, the rankings weren't bad before us either. Anyway. They have multiple position one rankings for well searched terms both locally and nationally. One would assume therefore that a lot of their traffic would come from Google right? Not according to their analytics. In fact, very little of it does... instead, 70% of their average 3,000 visits per month comes from just one referring site. A framed version of their site which is through reachlocal, which itself doesn't rank for any of their terms. I don't get it... The URL of the site is: www.namgrass.co.uk (ignore there being a .com too, that's a portal as they cover other countries). The referring site causing me all this confusion is: http://namgrass.rtrk.co.uk/ (see source code at the bottom for the reachlocal thing). Now I know reach local certainly isn't sending them all that traffic, so why does GA say it is... and what is this reachlocal thing anyway?? I mean, I know what reachlocal is, but what gives here with regards to it? Any ideas, please??
