Link profile looking unnatural
-
Hello,
I checked out link profile and noticed that we have 169 linking root domains with 501 links containing the same KW anchor text - all pointing to our homepage.
I found out that it's actually a friend of the owner who is getting the links as a favor. All links were in a short time, and it's making our link profile look unnatural. The linking root domains look like... www. iraqculturalattache-prague .org/
I did notice a positive increase in rankings for the KW; however, i'm sure that this will be short lived, as Google will pick up on the unnatural link profile.
Should i ask that he remove the links? Or just leave them? I don't want out website to be penalized.
Thanks!

Yes i would say thanks, but no thanks.

Hi Marcin,
a) what percentage of your all incoming links these links constitute?
- roughly 70%
b) do you have other links from other sources with varying anchor text, possibly with your brand as anchor text, etc.?
- Yes
c) are these sites linking to you quality sites or spammy sites?
I would say spammy. Here is an example... www. iraqculturalattache-prague .org/
d) is your website well established, with a history of >1 year and stable traffic?
- Yes. We are well established.
If you could provide these answers, I could provide a more specific recommendation.

It really depends on four things:
a) what percentage of your all incoming links these links constitute?
b) do you have other links from other sources with varying anchor text, possibly with your brand as anchor text, etc.?
c) are these sites linking to you quality sites or spammy sites?
d) is your website well established, with a history of >1 year and stable traffic?
If you could provide these answers, I could provide a more specific recommendation.

We're looking at providing SEO for a website that has the majority of its incoming links from websites created solely to provide links. Few have bad spam rankings. How worried should I be about those links?
The majority of incoming links to a prospect's website are from website pages apparently created solely to provide links to the website. Few have high spam scores. The sites linking to the main site have versions of blogs with linked text. They seem to be providing positive SEO value now, but I'm concerned they might get noticed and hurt the main site in the future.

Link profile clean up
Hello everyone, we are actively working on cleaning the backlink profile of some of our sites. But I am confused on what needs to be done. Now it's possible to find some toxic or deadly domain where our site has been linked from without our approval, but if we remove all those sites, and may be all the site that have a poor domain authority and/or no PR rank (< 1), our profile will look too clean don't you think? . My questions are : If we over clean our profile are we not manipulating our links, so Google will not like it? Is a natural profile will not be a mix of all those domains (poor and good quality)? We are trying to see what to keep or try to get deleted/disavow, so we could try to claim some of our lost ranking back 🙂 Thanks for your help on this, Cheers, Mounir

Ecomerce: Would 4 link sections leak too much link juice?
Hello, In my content management for our ecomerce site, I've found that there are sometimes links to sites in our industry that have "helpful links" sections. Several strong sites link directly to these resource sections. There are 4 different topics that fit this trend in our industry. Would it leak too much link juice to make 4 comprehensive link sections and place a link to them on our "Useful Articles" page? Or should I stick to one comprehensive link section? Or perhaps a small link section? Or none at all? Thanks.

Getting Links
Hi, Links from Directories are bad. Links for low quality sites are bad. Paid links are bad. Guest blogging is "maybe rumor has it" google's next big Penguin. Where and how is everybody getting all these great links from, is there anywhere left?? All advice welcomed as we really need good links quick! Thanks

Do links from the second page of an article pass link juice?
I have been writing for some sites with a high overall page rank and the articles are being viewed as quality by search engines as well. However, they usually put a link to my site at the very end of the article and then break the article down into two pages to increase ad revenue. It seems that I'm not getting much credit for that link even if the page has a high SEOmoz/PR score. I want to know if I am getting the benefit from these links. If not, how do I make sure I get the most bang, even if my link is on a second page of the article? Here is an example of what I mean: http://www.forbes.com/sites/theyec/2012/08/22/kanban-for-customers-how-to-increase-transparency-in-your-business/

Reciprocal Links Or One Way Links?
After reading a recent blog post on guest blogging and ways to build relationships for link building purposes, I began to wonder about something. It is my understanding that one way backlinks are superior to reciprocal linkage, but reciprocal is better than no link at all. So is it still worthwhile to do reciprocal guest blogging, and will the value of the links be worth it when completed? Or should we just be of the opinion that: One Way Link > Reciprocal > No link
