Keyword selection and search counts
-
I am a new pro member and have noticed that a lot of my keywords are very similar.
i.e. "piano movers Atlanta" vs. "Atlanta piano movers" vs. "piano movers in Atlanta"
Is there an accurate way to see search counts for each of these terms do determine which one I should target? Does anyone have any recommended tools or strategies?

Thanks for the input Oracle. I used these piano terms as examples but I am still in a small local niche market. We provide pool table services to the Atlanta and Metro-Atlanta areas such as pool table moving, recovering, etc.
We've got some really good organic ranking and good bit of authority but it has been difficult to gauge which terms to use (i.e. pool table recovering vs. pool table refelting).

Thanks for the info guys. It will definitely come in handy!

Wow. That must be one of the lowest keyword diversity industries that I have seen!
If I had a site like that I would put my big effort into getting into the local search results.
Then I would start working on the organic.
I would hit adwords heavily and get some catchy ads above the SERPs. I would be looking for smart, strong, experienced, gentle with thousands of successful moves who is going to take good care of my precious instrument!

Hi Bryan,
When keywords look similar as you indicate, use phrase and exact match with specific attention given to exact match.
I use broad match when I'm having trouble drumming up keywords.
Once I get a semblance of keywords as you've indicated, I resort to exact match to tell me what specific phrases generate the traffic.
A quick look at local exact matches tells me [piano movers atlanta] generates the most at 140 searches, followed by [atlanta piano movers] at 58 and [piano movers in atlanta] generating 0. However, [piano movers atlanta ga] brings back 22 results.

I've tried this a few times but I often get a "not enough data" response under the search volume headings.

Coworker and I see totally different keyword volumes on same paid keyword planner account
My coworker and I are both connected to the same company's paid keyword planner account but are using our own individual google accounts to log in. When I look up the keyword "joint bank account" I get a search volume of 9,900, while she gets a search volume of 2,900. Does anyone know why this might be? Do we know which might be more accurate? This doesn't seem to be connected to Google lumping semantic variations together. I've seen it happen way before that update. It's hindering our headline pitching since the volume she sees does not meet our minimum search threshold. Any insight would be greatly appreciated! Thanks, Laira

Analysing more than 5 keywords?
I have the habit of analysing 80 to 100 keywords per topic and I really do not see myself exporting 20 5-lines Excel sheets and then merging them before getting to analysis itself. Is there a way around this (very strict) limitation?

International Keyword Ranking
I want measure my ranking for keywords in various countries and search engines. If I use a tool such as rank checker to determine my rank for google.uk, google.au.com, etc... is that accurate, or does my IP still affect the rankings I see? If I use a VPS such as Hide My Ass (or another product you would recommend), would that make my ranking results more accurate? I also want to measure my ranking in Russia, where Yandex is very strong so a tool to measure my Yandex ranking + Google would be ideal. What method you would recommend to accurately determine my rankings in different countries? Thank you!

SerpIQ vs. Keyword Difficulty tool
http://imgur.com/6uidr Is this any good for keyword research? I see they use some weird metric and I'm not sure whether those are relevant at all, plus it's really hard to do a bulk research. Let me know what you think.

Should I be optimizing for Keywords that we already rank for?
When selecting which Keywords to optimize for, should I choose all words that I want us to move up for? Like that my company appears ranked for 5, 10, 42, 44, etc.? Or should I select a mix of some that rank well (top 1-2 pgs in Google) /rank near pg 5/ and some that aren't showing up in the top 50 yet? I don't want to waste my time optimizing for words I don't need to. Thanks!
