What is the best way to internally link via images?
I have a website about shoes with all different brands. Let's say I'm trying to rank for "ABC sandals", and on the ABC page I have a "related brands" section with 4 logos of related sandal brands, linking to their respective page. Currently the alt text of the logos is "XYZ Logo" with the link title text "XYZ." Would it be beneficial to have change either the image alt text, or the link title text, or both to "XYZ sandals"?

thanks all!

XYZ Sandals is definitely better. You might also want to consider doing something even more descriptive and doing XYZ Sandals for Women ABC Leather Shoes for Men XYZ Evening Shoes There are ton's of brand searches followed by type/category of shoes.

It certainly is better to have it as 'XYZ sandals' rather than 'XYZ' or 'XYZ Logo'.
Depending on how much control over code you have, you could replace the alt and title attribute with the name of the product.
Additionally, what you could also do - I'm not saying it's necessary, but might be quite useful - is to remove the image and put it as a background of the a tag. You can then put your keyword in between the opening and closing a tag. This way you don't have to be worry about the alt attribute, only title and the keyword inside of the link i.e.:
[background:
url(/path/to/image.jpg") no-repeat center center;
display:block;
">
XYZ sandals](/product "XYZ sandals")
You could obviously do all that styling in the css file and only provide path to the image for each product as an inline style attribute.

That's a tough one. I don't know if search engines will get confused with alt=XYZ" on your ACB page. I would optimize the product page itself and forget about the 4 logos if they are dynamically driven (not static).

How To: Image Transition Effect on Website
What program would allow an image transition effect where product images when viewed on our website change to alternative angles/shots of the same product when the cursor is on the image? This is a common transition effect of websites such as http://studiominc.com.au/collections/pyramids. Please let us know if you have used programs like these and how to implement this into our website. Thank you!

Does duplicate content damage ranking in YouTube the same way it does on websites?
I'm asking this question due to the following scenario: When we have videos produced by Third Party video companies they upload the video to their YouTube account before us (the customer), has chance to upload it to ours. If this was an article that was uploaded to the web then the website uploading it first would be classed as the original piece and all other website uploading the article would be considered duplicates and not rank (As I believe). Hence my question, does YouTube work in the same way and hence our videos when searched in YouTube be secondary to our Third Party video companies as they are posting them first? Regards, Tom

Blocking Google From Accessing Our Images - SEO Impact
We recently discovered that we were blocking Google from crawling our cdn, cdn.yournextshoes.com, where all our images are hosted. Unfortunately this went on for several months, and I wonder if this could explain our horrible SEO performance. Basically, I would like to know if this has impacted just our performance in Google Images (obviously our images have not been picked up by Google Images), or if our regular SEO has been impacted as well.Right now we're just receiving around 13% of our traffic from search, so we're trying to find out why Google does not like us.

Does Local SEO affect international ranking ability?
I'm 90% sure that local SEO doesn't have an affect on international rankings (it doesn't logically make sense that it would) but I wondered if someone could verify that assertion for me, either from experience or by pointing me in the direction of a resource/article that states it. Have searched high and low but can't find anything thanks j

Embedded Video Sharing Count As Links?
I am considering using Wistia as a video platform to host video content I don't want listed on YouTube. One of the features they have (I bet they all do) is to allow other webmasters to embed the video on their site as well. If a webmaster embed's one of my Wistia videos on their site, do I get link juice? ...or is this only helpful to help spread branding?

What are some effective ways to take up SERP real estate?
Hey Guys, I was wondering if you've seen or practiced some effective ways to take up real estate in the SERPS. Ideally I'd like to see more results from my own domain although I realize that G seems to only display 3 for any single domain. I'm looking for creative ways to take up more real estate other than subdomains. I recently saw a municipal website with 4 results (1 being a PDF) which suprised me. I have a couple in my head but what's worked best for you?

Is there an easy way to see how competitive a local search term is?
Is there a quick and easy way to see how competitive local search terms are? I am looking at helping my clients show up on the local search results. Some times all I have to do is claim a listing and they move right to the top. Sometimes I claim a listing and nothing happens so I get links and I get reviews and it takes awhile. I want to be able to put an accurate price point on the service I am offering. I have looked at the search volume and it hasn't been the best indicator because some industries are more competitve than others. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.
