How does it take after getting links discovered by google to see increase in rankings?
-
Five of my friends linked to my site from their website and updated their sites through Google Webmaster tools right after linking to my site. Though the Google spider crawled the site as soon as they updated their pages, it still took about three weeks for my site to get a bump in the serps from their links. Why does it take that long for links to kick in and what is the average time it normally takes to see an increase in ranking from links once Google discovers them?
Thanks mozzers!

I think you have to consider the scale of the enterprise; it's easy to think of Google as being some kind of video game that responds to your input as soon as you make it (note to self: make Video Game about SEO. Possible titles: Link Awakening, The Adventure of Link, A Link to the Past). Also consider the number of links you're talking about; I'm surprised you saw any movement for just five links.
To me, Google's response (including time it takes them to notice) to a link is kind of ineffable. Charles' advice is pretty good. If you're solely concentrating on number of links and what affect they'll have you might be doing the wrong kind of SEO.

In my experience it has taken about 2-4 weeks to see noticeable results after winning a good number of high quality links. It really varies depending on your niche and competition. Wil Reynolds from Seer Interactive talks about a client who received links from highly authoritative sites but saw no improvement in rankings. Other times you will see a site with a bunch of spammy links skyrocket to the first position. My approach is to just create the best content on the web so you deserve to outrank your competitors and your chances of improving rankings in the long run will be maximized.

What weight can 1 huge inbound backlink carry and how long does it take for Google to recognize
My DA is only 22. I got a beautifully crafted dofollow backlink from a site with a DA of 94 and an AHrefs rank of 98 (the 98th most valuable domain in the world) 2 parter- 1. How much do you think one link like that will affect my DA and rankings? (i understand this is subjective - looking more for opinions) 2. How long before MOZ and Google Search Console see the link? It has been 10 days and the link is not showing up on either yet. I know the best thing to do is put my head down and keep building links rather than focusing on "when" and "how much" but I'm getting antsy and curious for the community's opinion. Thanks, Ryan

How does a business have a link back where I can't see the anchor text?
So, I'm running competitor websites through Open Site Explorer and following the link from Moz to where their link is coming from. It has the anchor text 'Christmas Gifts'. When I go to that page there is no mention of this anchor text. No mention of that persons website. No display ad's that could be providing that link. How is this link pointing to their page?

Self linking - loss of link juice?
There are 10 links on page that point to this page where they exist (link to the page itself). Does it influence on ranking? And what's happening to link juice? How does it spread? Is there any loss of it?

Can i get a list of internal and external links from moz?
My issue is that i have 133k external links and 730k total links. And from what i've read on the forums this means that we have about 597k internal links (730k total links minus 133k external links). And this seems like HUGE number of internal links. I somehow think it might be affecting our seo rankings as it might look like some "fishy" practice to Google. So in the graphs i can see that this number of total links has actually risen from 400k to 700k in the past months.. And since our external link count hasn't changed that much it means the number of internal links has grown a lot. So my idea is to check what are these internal links so I can better understand where they come from. Can anyone explain how come we have such a HUGE number of internal links? And more importnantly how can we see a list of these internal links so we could possibly rectify this and check if all is in order? I am adding a screnshot to give better insight jiDONUw

Can you get "link juice" from an outside company's/organization's intranet?
Will you get the same "link juice benefits" from a University, Government Org, or public company's intranet that are linked to your webpages – vs the benefits that you would get from links from their public webpages? Assume that the external webpages have very high Domain Authority, MozRank/Trust etc.

Is anybody else noticing a dramatic change to their 'links to your site' section in Google Webmaster Tools?
Hey,
Link Building | | ChrisHolgate
Over the last six months or so we've been going through our backlink profile and cleaning up links from poor quality sources. Week by week there have been small changes in our Google Webmaster Tools 'links to your site' section to reflect this. I logged on this morning however and there has been a dramatic shift in the information displayed. Pretty much every bad link has been removed from the list including sites I know for a fact are still linking to us as they didn't communicate at all to our removal requests. Additionally, rather than showing the top 1000 links to our site as it used to, WMT is only showing 73 linking domains. The remaining 73 domains are good natural links from high quality sources. I'm guessing Google are just in the middle of an update and that the remaining linking domains (including the bad ones) will reappear shortly. This isn’t a request for advice or help but I’m just curious as to whether anybody else is seeing anything similar?0 -
How long should does it take before I see SEO results?
I am thinking about launching a website connected to Christmas - which gives me less then 2 months to develop and begin ranking for the site. Is this too short a timeframe and I should put off this plan until next year or can I actually begin ranking for low competitive keywords within my timeframe.
