Too Many On-Page Links
-
The SeoMoz site crawler says all my pages have too many links. I am using Dreamweaver with a horizontal Spry drop-down menu bar. My site has several hundred pages and about 100 of them show up in this Spry menu bar. I believe that this would be considered a false positive for too many links - am I right? Or is Google seeing this also as too many links per page? I am trying to get my Google rankings back after being hurt badly by the Penguin. I am using php but don't see another way to do the site links without going to a CMS type site. Thanks for any help you can give.

Thanks Roger. This is what SeoMoz wrote to me:
Thanks for writing in! Google is pretty smart and they are probably able to figure this out, so you might be able to ignore 'too many links' error, but I suggest posting this question to our Q&A forum to make sure: http://www.seomoz.org/q
My thought was that they could improve their crawler's software to screen out the spry menu links. Doing this would make it more useful.

I get this a lot on one of our sites due to a large set of hover dropdown menus. I ignore the warnings because the menus are useful to our users. I would imagine that yours is a similar situation, but it's not a false positive - the links are on the page so Google has to crawl them. I don't think this type of linking is going to have contributed to problems in Penguin - we've been hit too and we're looking to external links to find the problem.

Competitors links increasing rapidly
Hi there, I have 3 main competitors who I keep my eye on within Moz and I am always comparing pages as they are all sell similar products in the same way but we're increasingly getting more things put in place to make ourselves different, which is why we rank number 1 in the UK for their competitive keywords (without blowing my own trumpet!). One thing I have noticed, a competitor seems to be doing things the old school way. He has around 15 competitive keywords in his pages meta tag (irrelevant) and then has a huge 400 - 500 word description on each page describing whats on the page, what products are in that category (if it's a category page) or localised information if it's a company page. What seems to be odd, is that before penguin/panda their website had around 1,200,000 total links. Then after panda, he went down to around 300,000 total links. In the past few weeks I've noticed that he has gradually increased in total links from 300,000(estimate) to now 961,811 total links in a matter of weeks. Is this an error/glitch within Moz or is he doing something that may be classed as "blackhat" or is it something I shouldn't really be worrying about? Any feedback appreciated 🙂 Tom

My moz only one page was crawled
I recently moved my shopping cart from one provider to another and today moz only crawled one page, could this be because maybe google has not indexed it yet or should i be concerned? I pointed the DNS at the new cart monday night if that helps. I would have expected it to be indexed by now

When will links appear
When will links appear? Hi I submitted one of our products to a range of beauty bloggers and all of the reviews came back, really positive, along with links to our site. However when I run a back link report in open site explorer only one of these links is showing up even though the links all went live at about the same time. Can any one explain this in discrepancy?

Transfering Page Authority
Hi, I have recently change my url architecture with site redesign and was just doing some analysis of the old and new pages. I seem to be losing a little bit of Organic Search because of it. As an example this old diving page in open site explorer shows a Page Authority of 46 whilst the new diving page shows a Page Authority of 22. I have a 301 redirect going from the old page to the new, but that seems to be quite a drop in Page Authority. Is there anything else I can be doing to improve upon it? Thanks, Adam

I've used the on page grade and now have all my pages at a grade A for relevant keywords. Most of them are cool, achieveing first page rankings apart from a few massive keywords. So the question is, what's next? What do i do now that I'm at grade A, but perhaps not #1 yet... Cheers -dan
