Old data in OSE?
-
Hello,
I know the Mozscape was recently updated, but it's been a week and my site data ( DA, number of backlinks) in Open Site Explorer is still the same. The seomoz toolbar and my pro tools show my DA has increased ( I don't know of another way to verify my backlink count, so I'm not sure on that front). Any idea of the reason behind the disparity?
Thanks.

Hi Nick,
Thanks for the reply. I understand how to pull numbers for the root domain, but I was just noting that the number in OSE is the exact same as it was prior to the most recent Mozscape update. It just seems odd that I would have the exact same number of links.
Also, any thoughts on why no update for the Domain Authority?

Hey Rich!
Thanks for writing in and sorry for the confusion there! It looks like the number that you're looking at in the Web App Competitive Domain Analysis tab is the total amount of links to the entire subdomain, but the number you're looking at in Open Site Explorer is the total amount of links to that page only. Sorry about the ambiguity there! The numbers at the top of OSE all pertain solely to that URL rather than to the whole subdomain or root domain, but you can get information about the whole subdomain or root domain by going here (as an example): http://www.opensiteexplorer.org/www.seomoz.org/a!metrics. Here's a screenshot of the numbers: http://markup.io/v/djd8djeptg5n. You can also look at all the links going to the sub/root domain by changing the filters in the "Linking Pages" tab.

Hey,
I seem to be getting some old data too - just links from websites that are no longer active. Don't think it's anything to worry about, just knuckle down on your site and check back in a week or so to see if any changes have been made. As long as you know what you've been doing (by keeping a log of it), there's nothing to worry about.
On the plus side, your DA has increased - that's gotta be worth a smile and a pat on the back!

Receiving incorrect data for eFurnitureHouse.com recently migrated from Network Solutions to Big Commerce
We have recently migrated www.eFurnitureHouse.com from Network Solutions to Big Commerce. The Crawl data we are receiving from MOZ is stating (missing meta description) for product categories. However, the meta description is there. On WMT ( HTML improvements) we are receiving 1000s of (Pages with duplicate meta descriptions). However, when you click on older URL it correctly redirect to new. On WMT ( HTML improvements) we are also receiving 1000s of ( pages with duplicate title tags) We would greatly appreciate any help here. Regards, Tony

How Old or How Often does the "Beginners Guide to SEO" Get Updated
Good morning 🙂 Just wondering how often does the intro/beginners guide get updated? I often refer back to this guide for some "back to basics" Regards George

What period of time do OSE social media metrics represent?
When one hovers over the social media metrics in Open Site Explorer the popups say that the numbers represent the total number of times the URL has been posted, liked, tweeted or +1'd. Those numbers are [appear to be] more dynamic than the data in OSE's other reports and seem to get a fresh analysis each time the URL is entered. So I'm wondering what period of time is it counting in it's "total number of times" determination? If I'd like to track the data to get an idea of, say, total number of Facebook Shares for a one month period, how often should I check the numbers?

Press Release - using moz bar/OSE is reading domain not page? How? Why?
A question posed by Christopher Glaeser from early today:low PA high DA, had a follow up response from him providing 2 urls from PR WEB for separate press releases: http://www.prweb.com/releases/2011/11/prweb8923419.htm (HP White) On moz bar Page Analysis/Link Data = PA - 47 DA - 36 http://www.prweb.com/releases/2011/12/prweb9051351.htm (Golfer's Advice) On moz bar Page Analysis/Link Data = PA - 1 DA - 96 I kept scratching my head as to how a press release of 6 weeks ago had garnered such attention from a company that would not seem to have a huge traffic due to more obscure product offering and scientific subject (Analyses of Armor Industry versus Golf Advice).

Then I realized that for HP White, Link Data was not about the PR. The url from mozbar was HPWhite.com not the above, I did not notice until I used OSE where same thing was happening. When I cut and pasted the above press release url for HP White and placed it in OSE this changed: PA - 49 DA - 96 (2 links 2 linking root domains) For Golfers advice (0 links from 0 linking domains) Note to all: the links to the PR WEB release for the HP included a low end directory type link and a link from PR WEB (. For Golfer's Advice there was not a link back to the release from PR WEB: Note that Golfer's Advice is a newer release (6 weeks). So, any link from HPWhite release would equal more juice to HP White and PR Web and Vocus. Any link to Golfer's Advice from release offers......???? to Golfer's Advice and who cares to Vocus and PR Web. So, I guess this begs a couple of questions: Why the mozbar link analysis difference for one versus the other? Does PR Web treat some differently than others? Who benefits most from me paying a PR Web to do press releases for a client, PR Web and Vocus or my client and I???? I have tried to order the images to make sense: L to R top, then bottom is last. OSE Social Signals Affect PA/DA?
I've looked through the Open Site Explorer documentation and can't find the answer so am posting here... I noticed a web page I work on showing a PA 30 but OSE is showing 0 links from 0 root domains. It is a page that has no internal links to it and no external links to it (that I know of) but has stumbles, tweets, and Diggs. Are these social factors the reason it has a PA of more than 0 or 1? If so, is there a link to documentation that shows how OSE handles social signals? Thanks, Evan

Group by domain broken in OSE?
When trying to browse the results using the "group by domain" filter in OSE, when you click on the next page or one of the page numbers the results go back to the ungrouped list.
