Links or Redirect?
-
My client's company has just acquired another company in the same industry and with that acquisition came two websites; companyname.com and companyname.co.uk.
companyname.com has PA13 and DA10, companyname.co.uk has PA15 and DA10.
At the moment, the two companies are to be run as separate companies but will become fully merged in time.
My client's own website is brand new (PA1 and DA) and I'm wondering what is the best way to use these other two sites to improve my client's search ranking.
Should I use the two sites to link to my client (these would be logical and natural links e.g. explaining the acquisition, under new management) or would it simply be better to redirect the domains to the new site?
Many thanks

Thanks for the advice. Fortunately reciprocal links aren't an issue as the two companies were competitors of sorts but I've checked just in case.

Thanks Russ

Yeah, do the redirect and if possible keep hosting the sites on different servers--then it doesn't look like you are building your own link network. Try to avoid reciprocal links too (not always possible with mergers like this).

I would go ahead and redirect it. The redirect will pass nearly all of the authority on to the new site, while the link will only pass a fraction based on the PageRank patent.

Refferal links
I have a site where I can pick up where my hits came from. So if somebody clicks from another website link to visit my website, I will then pick up from which website they came from and also which page they landed on. Will google penalize me for this and see this as paid advertising?

Am I better off with ten links from one site or one link from ten sites?
I am writing a series of linked-back articles for a highly-ranked web publisher, but wonder if I'd be better off sharing the articles across different sites. My goal is to grow our domain authority and SEO rankings.

How many links per week/month should a link building campaign acquire?
I am running a linkbuilding campaign for my company. I am mostly focusing on guest blogging opportunities and responding to emails from HARO. How many links would I have to acquire each week or month to be considered doing a good job over a 6 month or a year time period? Thank you,

Why Links from Top Level Domains doesn't Pass Link Equity?
Hello, I have a doubt about Equity-Passing links report of OpensiteExplorer.org According to Sam Weber http://moz.com/community/users/432678 links which pass value from one page to another including followed 301 and Meta refresh links are under Equity-Passing links. I am surprising after looking at the links report generated by opensiteexplorer.org. Most of the article and directory links which have low DA and PA are under Equity-Passing links. Whereas websites like EzineArticle or Articlebase which have good DA and PA are not found in either Equity-passing links or under only nofollow category. Please suggest me if the report of Opensiteexplorer is not good enough or the links from the site like Ezine Article doesn’t pass the link equity. Thanks.

No internal followed links
My site shows no internal followed links in OSE, but each page on my site has internal links, including to the domain itself - jonnyt.me. Any idea why this might be and how I could fix it?

JavaScript is crawled by search engines, isn’t it? Does it mean that links embedded in JavaScript pass link juice?
I wonder If links embedded in JavaScript from an external Website pass link juice to the linked page and thus have a positive effect on google rankings. I read that JavaScipt is craweld. Does it mean that also the link juice is passed? I'm looking forward to your answers.

Back links not being found
I am working on optimizing a client site that was launched in January of 2011. A number of back links are starting to show up when I do a competitive link analysis, however in Google WMT the only IBLs that are showing up are from the non-www of the domain, even though I have a 301 redirect from danwilson.ca to www.danwilson.ca (and has since the site launched). I also have verified the non-www version with WMT and declared the perfered domain as www.danwilson.ca. Any ideas why the non-www domain links are being shown as inbound links by Google WMT rather than internal links. This likely means the site is getting dinged for duplicate content...
