Blocking Google seeing outbound links?
-
Apart from rewriting the outbound url to look like a folder 'abc.co.uk/out/link1' and blocking the folder 'out' in the robots.txt file, along with also nofollowing the links as well, is there anything else you can do?
-
The links are already cloaked 'Jump URLs', the way you described.
But as I have found if you do that without the nofollow added to the link, Google indexes the cloaked url as it looks like it is part of the websites structure.
If I just nofollow the link Google may not pass link juice through it but it must still count it as a outbound link, now not saying I have but if I had a page with 50 outbound links with only nofollow I believe this will still have a negative effect.

This question is full of mystery. If you "nofollow" an outbound link, Google won't count it, and this is the safe thing to do for untrusted links 99% of the time.
But why would you not want Google to "see" the link? There is a technique called "masking" or "cloaking" in which you redirect the link through a blocked directory (via robots.txt), then use php or another method to send the link on it's merry way.
This is often done with affiliate links. Do a Google search for how to mask (or cloak) affiliate links and you should find several techniques to do what you're looking for.

You'll need to create the link on DOM load with Javascript. Google won't crawl a dynamically loaded DOM.

Why is it a big deal?
How about noindexing the page?

Number of internal links and passing 'link juice' down to key pages.
Howdy Moz friends. I've just been checking out this post on Moz from 2011 and wanted to know how relevant it is today? I'm particularly interested in a number of links we have on our HP potentially harming important landing page rankings because not enough 'link juice is getting to them i.e) are they are being diluted by all the many other links on the page? (deeper pages, faqs, etc etc) It seems strange to me that as Google as has got more sophisticated this would still be that relevant (thus the reason for posting). Anyway, I thought I was definitely worth asking. If we can leverage more out of our on-page efforts then great 🙂

Google indexing
Hi In my site I have 2 blogs, the first blog is a standard blog, every post is informative and over 6oo words with pictures and all of them are keyworded. The second blog is basically a journal of bike rides i go on, with a picture and about 100 - 300 word writeup. I use a portfolio plugin to get this online. My question is should I noindex nofollow all of these posts. Im not sure if google will see it as a lot of uninformative noncene, I dont write these as blog posts they are a journal I post 1 or 2 a day. What is the normal practice for this... they are not keyworded or seo'd I dont want them to affect my seo or rankings. Thanks Chris

Internal linking question
I have a Q&A site which I am struggling to get ranking well in Google. I had a few questions 1. Should I be doing some internal linking and if so how is it best to do this? Should I go back into users questions and change certain keywords to links if applicable? 2. Should I be nofollowing the index pages ie /p1 /p2 of discussions? 3. If anyone has chance to look at the site and let me know if there is anything else I am doing wrong I would be really grateful. Thanks

Are Back Links King
We have worked as closely as possible to the guidelines and advice on this forum, if we compare our on page Analsis with other companies in the same field as ours we have a far better site as far as SEO is concerned, our DA authority is higher and most of our page authority is higher but we just cannot seem to get up to their level in the search engines, one site that is in competiton with us do not use Facebook and also they do not use Twitter very much, I looked at some of their backlinks and their top one which was a blog had not been updated since 2011, over the years we have amassed far more what I would call worthless links as this was the done thing then, how can I get on the right track, are there any companies who could assess our site for a reasonable cost to point us in the right direction, we are doing our own blog, Facebook, Twitter, Onlywire?

Internal linking
Background; selling childrens clothing (for norwegian market). main page is being optimized barneklær (children clothing) which is most used term. We ve been online for around 3 months and have gone from unranked to 25th spot on google for this term. We are selling clothes from 8 different producers which all have their own 'page' - were all their products are listed. e.g http://www.epleskrinet.no/dundelina/M_13 . This page i am optimizing for the producer which is dundelina. For this term i show up in spot 24, 25 and 44. My problem is that its not the producer page that show up but the 3 most popular products. The producer page isnt ranked at all. What ive done so far is to have to producer link to my page from their site and blog (a week ago) - they were linking to my home page earlier. Ive put anchor text dundelina --> takes me to producer page on 4 out of 7 products. This was also done about a week ago. I am planning a blog about dundelina pointing to the right URL. From our blog I am using. Ive posted a couple of pictures on facebook pointing to right URL. Do i just need to be patient for this to be picked up or is there anything else i should do ? Thanks ... Google Penalty?
What are the characteristics of a Google penalty - i.e. how do you know by looking at the rankings for your keywords? Do all keywords that you had previously ranked for fall from say top 5 to nowhere? Do you disappear from SERP for a branded keyword? Or something else?? Basically how do you know if you have been penalized? Thanks
