Is it better to link back to the root domain, or the specific page you're optimizing for?

I'm working on a project our site - building links for iPhone Repair.
For the term "iphone repair miami" - is it more ideal to link to the root domain (xxx.com) or to the subpage that is about iPhone Repair (xxx.com/iphone-repair)?
I would imagine the latter - but obviously that page has less authority than the root.

In my opinion this would depend on whether or not your going after this as your primary keyword. I co-own a site that sells custom t-shirts. The phrase "custom t-shirts" has always driven the most volume and conversion so we optimize our homepage for it. If your website is a camera shop and you are launching into iPhone repair or something like that I would be more inclined to link it down to the subpage. So in my opinion if this is one of the top 2 or 3 keywords you are targeting I would go root domain. If it is something less than that I would break it down to the subdomain where you can add better supporting content.

I'm not an expert in SEO yet, so please don't shoot me if I'm wrong. Unless you have a 1 page website or your home page is mainly concentrated on "iphone repair" then it is better to link to a page like www.mysite.com/iphone-repair
In google search results a URL is displayed, and I believe that people often times notice that and would prefer to click on something that would take them directly to the page that seems like what they're looking for instead of a homepage.

In the SEO guide on Moz, it states as one of the link building strategies: Get your customers to link to you If you have partners you work with regularly, or loyal customers that love your brand, you can capitalize on this by sending out partnership badges—graphic icons that link back to your site (like Google often does with their AdWords certification program). Just as you'd get customers wearing your t-shirts or sporting your bumper stickers, links are the best way to accomplish the same feat on the web. We design websites for churches and non-profits, and put a link back to our site as the designer. We recently have been told this is spammy and not a good idea. However, from what MOZ says, it sounds like they are promoting you do this. Please comment. Thanks.

Requesting udpate's from old domain to new domain
Hey guys, We had a domain change three years ago now which was redirected. Many of the old domains have not been updated to the new domain. The redirect is in place. I'm just wondering if there would it be a worthwhile exercise to reach out to sites to request an update of the URL link from an SEO perspective? Many thanks Rob

Whoa 1000's of links from Industrial Interface?
Hello all! I just took over an account, and in webmater tools the site has thousands of links to its homepage from a site named http://www.industrialinterface.com. Not sure if this is a good or bad thing. (thinking bad) Tried to contact the webmaster, and the contact form does not work, so that right there is a bad sign. Does anyone have an opinion on industrial interface? Anyone have luck in reaching them? Appreciate the feedback! Dorian

Are Links/Resources pages considered spam?
I'm dabbling with link building in a non link-happy industry, traffic safety (IE Traffic cones, barricades, safety vests, etc...). We currently are doing #RCS in terms of giveaways for college students as well as discounts in a wider EDU Outreach campaign as well as legitimate guest posting. I have started to use Link Prospector, and got a list of links/resources pages that we can get info from. I found some great links through here, including ways to get links from higher-profile .gov domains, but was wondering if it is worth it to go after the high(er) quality links/resources pages. By higher quality, I usually set a floor of a DA 25-30 and have a limited amount of external links per page. These would be for branded keywords (IE the company name/domain) and not exact match anchor text. I'd really like to see how other SEOs feel about this. Can link juice be passed in an iframe from domain A to domain B
Need to give our web partners our booking form which must be loaded in an iframe calling back to our domain. Is it possible to pass any link juice from their domain loading our iframe back to us. Was thinking of a "Powered by" text link in the form footer, but I'm guessing the link needs to be outside the iframe. Would love to hear any thoughts or workarounds on this.
