I use Long Tail Pro for keyword research. You enter in 5 keywords and it uses the Google AdWords Keyword Tool to generate literally thousands of related keyword phrases which you can filter and analyze by search volume and organic competitiveness. Click on a keyword phrase and you get an in-depth analysis of the top 10 organic competitors so you can determine how easy or difficult it would be to make it on the first page of Google. It's by far my favorite keyword research tool, especially for finding great long tail phrases to target with blog posts.

The way I like to start off for keyword research is by going into google keywords tool and typing in the main keyword for the terms I am opting. Also be sure to check [exact] on the left to see exact results for each keyword. Once you type this in click on local monthly searches to organize these phrases. I organize mine so that I can see which terms fit the project best and will most likely be a conversion.
Having the "keyword" followed by "quote" is more likely to convert into a quote.
Using Googles keyword tool you will get you good suggestions and also help you see if there is a good ROI.
I notice that you have an SEOmoz account... Why not use it?
To keep track of your keywords simply add your site as a new campaign to your SEOmoz account (basic pro member gets 5 sites) and add all your keywords. SEOmoz will send you an email every week with the terms you've selected. You can also include your analytics so that you can see if your site is gaining enough traffic from a selected phrase this is helpful because once you realize that a keyword is in spot 5 on Google and is getting you a great amount of converting traffic you may want to focus on getting that specific phrase more ranking.

There are several software for this purpose. I use Market Samurai, is a great tool to find the "gold nuggets keywords" ant target the keywords in your market.
But it is also an excellent tool for find content, monotorizatin, rank tracker etc

We use BrightEdge, although this is pricey, it does give excellent data on what competitors are focusing on. I also conduct a lot of manual research just using Google Search and Google Insights. Honestly, although BE does give excellent data quickly, I would have to say that nothing is going to out perform good ole' manual research. I have never used the Market Samurai that Roberto mentioned but I have heard nothing but good things. Also - you are a pro member here.... there are many GREAT tools available to you

I use market samurai for keyword research. It' been a solid tool for quite a while.

-how to use it in yoast keyphrase input? should i use exact match of the focus keyphrase in the input? as you know Google is capable of recognizing the separate words from longer search terms, even if the words are not in the exact same order as the query. I searched many days but unfortunately i couldn't find anything about how to use keyword or long-tail keyword inside the article step by step.0 -
Keywords. Who to trust.
Hello, I'm baby and family photographer. I have done my keyword research. Used Keyword tool. According to the research tool it says that highest local search traffic for baby market would be keywords like cute babies, baby pictures. I asked many of my clients what they would enter in search box if they were to look for baby photographer. Pretty much everyone has said that there would be some form of photographer word in search term with baby word. So like baby photographer, photographers, baby photo studio etc. Unfortunately these type of terms are under 10 searches per month. I have only two relevant pages to target these baby keywords. I'm really wondering who actually uses terms like cute babies, baby pictures. I have a feeling that those searches are made by like photo agencies, newspapers, stock libraries etc. I don't think mum who looks for photographer is suing these search terms. When you do your research, do you take in account metrics or go by more human element and try to look at it from clients perspective. What they would be searching for? Thank you guys, Just don't want to mess up with this and make sure I do the right thing.

For an e-commerce page with more than 2,000 products, how should I conduct my initial keyword research?
Hi all, A confused and frustrated SEO noob needing a little guidance here 😞 I'm a bit lost on how I should conduct my keyword research for a start-up e-commerce site selling dietary supplements (~200 brands and ~2000 SKU's). From my understanding, there are two different types of pages I have to optimize for other than the Homepage & CMS pages: Category pages and product pages. As part of the fundamental on-page optimization, I'm planning to write unique category/product descriptions for better visibility (as well as to avoid duplicate content issues) on SE. Consequently, this process has prompted several questions related to my keyword research. My questions are: How would I determine which keywords to optimize for? How many keywords should I target per product page? per category page? Should I include product / brand name as keywords? The site isn't live yet, but is set to launch in mid-August. Any ideas on how I can conduct my keyword research to be used for category/product level pages? Thanks all.

Keyword Analysis Tool
Can someone please enlighten me on the Keyword Analysis tool Matrix. Does Domain Linking refer to the number of links back to that domain as a whole? Also why is it that a page with a lower page ranking can be way ahead of one with a domain ranking that is way higher or vice-a -versa? What is a good number to go after? what is actually attainable? Thanks
