**Be carefull if amending the htaccess file. **
Make a back-up of it before you change anything. Test one redirect to make sure its working before you go ahead and add multiple redirects to the file.

Moosa is right, again, if using wordpress install the yoast SEOplugin: http://yoast.com/wordpress/seo/
As well as enabling you to handle your on page seo, you can also handle your redirects and robots.txt files through the plugin.
-
Nakul, is right but also if you are using the wordpress then instead of going in to .htaccess use the redirection plugin!
-
Best solutions for this is 301 redirect. If you don't need those page any further, you can simply delete those files from server and can redirect all the old/deleted pages to the new relevant pages with the help of .HTACCESS file or server side redirection (if you're not comfortable with the .htaccess coding)
You just need to enter the following code in .htaccess file:
Redirect 301 /old/oldpage.htm http://www.domain.com/newpage.htm(new page)
Once done, make sure to update your sitemaps (HTML, XML and TXT)
Hope this helps!
-
Sure. Here you go. I used your example of redirecting old page to new page.
Redirect 301 /products.php http://www.bxxxxxseo.com/product_list.php

Thank you Where can i find 301 redirect .htaccess codes relevant to my problem ? there are many in that web but these are not clear for me .
-
Delete the old pages and setup 301 redirects from the old pages to the new pages.
Make sure all your internal links are going to the new site pages only. As long as you can set the 301's, you are all set.
I hope this helps

CAPTCHA Alternatives to Improve Page Load Speed
Recently I had to install reCAPTCHA on my site. The site contains domain name generators and they were being misused, in the words of my host: _Addition of a Captcha will go one of two ways - hit the bruting on the head as intended - OR it will increase the load and the impact by rendering the Captcha's. _ Have noticed that reCAPTCHA adds a fair amount of code 32% of page size and 5 requests. I want to replace reCAPTCHA with an alternative, has anyone got any ideas? Cheers. Justin

Affects of a Home Link 301 Permanent Redirect in the Main Nav Bar
Hi I created a home page link in the main nav bar using functions.php request, and this leads to the home page, and it works fine. The logo on the site when clicked, resolves the home page domain.com which is fine. Is it ok to have a home page link in my main nav bar, as well as a clickable logo which on-click returns the web user to the home page also? (any seo implications with the permanent 301 redirects?) I like to give web users the choice especially as not all users are aware that they can click back to the home page by clicking on the logo. I considered breadcrumbs already. Thanks.

Address On Every page for e-Commerce site?
For a primarily e-commerce site, should you have your address on every page (in the footer, for example)? Or is it enough to just have it on the contact page? Thanks, Ruben

Duplicate Content Home Page http Status Code Query
Hi All, We have just redone a site wide url migration (from old url structure to new url structure) and set up our 301's etc but have this one issue whereby I don't know if' it's a problem of not. We have 1 url - www.Domain.co.uk**/** which has been set up to 301 redirect back to www.domain.co.uk However, when I check the server response code, it comes back as 200. So although it appears to visually 301 redirect if I put the url in the tool bar, the status code says different. Could this be seen as a potential duplicate home page potentially and if so , any idea how I could get around it if we can't solve the root cause of it. This is on a cake php framework, thanks PEte

Local Versions of Pages
I have a site that offers services across two states and was wondering if I would see any benefit from creating pages such as: SERVICE in CITY, TX Would I need to change the content on the pages completely or could I simply swap out the city/state if I have roughly 3-5 combos I want target?

Are there any studies, statistics or measurable impact of using mixed fonts on landing pages?
Are there any studies, statistics or measurable impact of using mixed fonts on landing pages? One of our landing pages is using five variations of the Arial font where size, strength (bold, italics) and color all vary. One camp internally believes that this okay, whereas another camp wants to standardize the presentation where there's less variance (such as a heading as one and the body copy as another). Have you been through a similar trial or test in the past? I've seen some instances of a Marketing Sherpa study on the topic, but no real numbers to support one thing or another. I've attached an example image of our current LP. I have a lot of strong opinions on a number of items - but we're looking to have an immediate internal discussion on the font issue first. Thanks! What is the optimal URL Structure for Internal Pages
Is it more SEO friendly to have an internal page URL structure that reads like www.smithlawfirm.com/personal-injury/car-accidents or www.smithlawfirm.com/personal-injury-car-accidents? The former structure has the benefit of showing Google all the sub-categories under personal injury; the later the benefit of a flatter structure. Thanks
