Google places is not showing up
-
Hi Mozzers,
I have a client that have multiple franchises nationwide. All of them have their google places accounts serving their area. I have an issue regarding one of them that used to rank in position 2(places ranking). After 2 months ranking so high, it suddenly disappeared. I tried to be patient and hoped it would come back again but nothing happened. Since this account was under a master account (with many other places account), I thought it would be a good idea to suspend the one in the master account and create a new one under a unique gmail account. Guess what, it s still not showing up!!
I don't know what to do!
I have reviewed the Guideline and the listing seems to follow the guideline. I may be not aware of a major google update on places though.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks
Ty

Hi Ty,
To be honest, you may need to hire a Local SEO to figure this out one-on-one with you. There are so many reasons a listing can drop or disappear. I will give a few ideas here, but this should by no means be considered as coverage of all the things that could cause this:
-
You've failed to hide the address of a business that Google knows or believes doesn't serve customers at the place of business (i.e. the client has a go-to-client business model like a carpet cleaning company or dog walker). This can cause listings to be totally pulled.
-
You have unknowingly violated a different guideline.
-
The listing isn't actually not there...it exists but is buried so deep, you're just not finding it.
-
The listing has merged with listing of one of the other branches in the business, or with that of a totally unrelated business.
-
Duplicate listings may have caused the listing to drop out of site.
This is just the tip of the iceberg, and as you can see, it's hard to diagnose anything like this without a hands on investigation of the issue.
I do have a couple of recommendations for you to get you a little further along on your path.
- Fill out this Google Form to report the problem:
http://support.google.com/places/bin/static.py?hl=en&ts=1386120&page=ts.cs
- Check out this thread at the Local Search Forum where a business is describing something quite similar. The advice is the same as mine - fill out the form - but I think you might seem some things in this thread that could ring a bell for you in your own situation:

Hi
The address hasn't changed and there is no malware on the site. The site is totally fine. I am really wondering why this listing is active but not showing up when 90% percent of the other listings are fine.
Any other thoughts!!
Thanks

Hi,
Has the address or any core information been changed? if so, could take up to 30 day for it to reappear. Also I would check Google Webmaster Tools to see if the site has malware.

Is it still true that when your video is shown in a Google Video Carousel your page is not shown in the normal SERPS?
Hello everybody, I'm trying to decide whether it's worth it to invest time in optimizing my video's to appear in the video carousels on Google. I read that once your video is in the carousel, your normal snippet in the SERPS is removed. Is this still the case? Thank you for helping out!

Is city name really a no-no in Google+ Local description field?
I know that adding one's city name in the business name and category tags for Google+ Local is a no-no. And Google says so in its quality guidelines. But what about in the business description? I don't see that in Google's guidelines. Can anyone clarify?

Google Places Listing
Hi, I have the following issue. I'm doing marketing for a restaurant. There used to be 2 restaurants under the same owner, but they ended up splitting. Now these two locations are completely different owners. The issue is that the google places listing is currently pointing to the same website. How can I change the website address of this listing without having access to the email that was used to create it? Thanks

Url in Google Places bulk upload
Hi, I'm preparing a bulk upload for Google Places and have a question about the url of every individual place. The website is structured this was: www.website.com/entrepreneur-X
Image & Video Optimization | | nvs.nim
www.website.com/entrepreneur-Y
... But you can reach every individual entrepreneur like this as well: www.entrepreneur-x.com
www.entrepreneur-y.com
...these URL's redirect to the pages listed above and they use the e-mail address info@entrepreneur-y.com Should I use www.website.com/entrepreneur-X or www.entrepreneur-x.com in the bulk upload? I think it's best using www.website.com/entrepreneur-x because the other url is a redirect. What do you guys think??1 -
[local seo] How to compete against e.g. yellowpages on Google Rank 1 - 4?
Hi Folks, How to compete against the big SEO-powered pages like Yellowpages in the SERPs? I mean, they have thousands of Rd -> Rd Links as well as super Page and Domain Authority. How has a let's say Dentist or Electrician a decent chance to compete against those? Does Google give credit to them because of the Content they have on their page? These yellowpages totally take the fun out of it for my clients. Answeres would really much appreciated. Thank you. For me it feels like Don Quijote.

Optimizing for Google Hotel Finder
Hi! As the Google Hotel Finder was also launched in Europe some days ago I was wondering if there is already some best practices for optimizing the entries. I guess that most of the information is directly integrated from the respective Google Places Page... Any insights or views on this topic?

Google Places Name Change - Duplicate Listings.
Need input on a Google Places change to avoid duplicate listing/phone number issue for a name change. Here is a summary: Company A has a Places listing and ranks week for key local terms. Company A has become a franchise and has a completely new name but same address. A New Franchise listing was created. It has same location but a different telephone (tracking) number. Both listings generally appear in Google Places but Company A (older listing) come up first. For branding purposes I would ideally like to eliminate (or edit) Company A listing and optimize new Franchise listing. We will need to eliminate the tracking phone number and add the old “Company A” phone number to the new Franchise listing. What is the best procedure to delete the Company A listing? I have access to both listings. Do I: -Strip Company A listing of most info…wait and then delete? Do I delete from my account or delete in total? -Just change the name of the “old” Company name to the new franchise name and delete the new franchise listing? An if so, in what order? -or do I just delete the old listing right away and edit the new franchise listing right away? -When do I add the old (and real phone number) to the new franchise listing? This same scenario has played out in other locations with disastrous results. Appears that Google looks at them as duplicate listings if the old Company name is still active and demotes both listings. Trying to avoid that problem that has been created by other companies. -Would adding Google Boost to the surviving listing help? Any input appreciated.
