Should I adopt Google Plus Custom URLs?
-
Google Plus have just released Custom URLs, see here
So instead of the messy https://plus.google.com/b/012345679 you can have http://www.google.com/+{yourbrandname}.
This would be much better for memorizing.
But any opinions on added or future perceived SEO benefit?

I received my invite to the Google Plus Custom URL today. I'm adding it. (Well, the url choice wasn't what I wanted. Will be posting a question about changing it before I go for it.)
Here's some more information on it.

Agreed!
Thanks for the feedback.

Hi Shaun,
Already been offered the Custom URL, as you rightly point out it will be good for expanding our brand name.
I just wondered if anyone had evidence or input of any initial perceived or expected SEO benefit. eg. Strengthening of Brand Terms if you have G+ account with the same brand terms as your company pointing at your home page.
-
Given how Google likes to be cagey with things an the fact that G+ is still evolving, right now we may not know the business impact, however, like anything, why wouldn't you want to claim your online brand if you have the opportunity? Or if the opportunity presents itself?
-
Our research seems to agree with Hugh, you have to have a huge Google+ audience to have a custom URL. Also Google has stated that you might have to BUY custom url's to use them in the future.
To answer your question though is their any SEO benefit? Not at the moment, however their are branding opportunities available by having your own custom URL.
-
I believe you have to have quite a significant amount of people who have added you to their circles and have +1 your content. Not sure on the exact figures, but unless your a big brand or big name it will hard to come by at the moment.
It would be beneficial in helping expand your brand name to a potentially bigger audience and creating a stronger authority.

Why am I seeing so many referalls to my root domain from Facebook in Google Analytics?
When we look at referalls from Facebook in Google Analytics, more than 50% (and sometimes upwards of 80%) of the traffic we're getting is listed as landing on our root domain. The thing is, we don't have any direct links TO our root domain on our Facebook page. So is this legitimate traffic, and how are they getting to our page if we have no links to it? We do post links to stories, videos, etc, but those are to the individual pages, not to our root domain. When I look at those pages that we link to, they do have traffic numbers, but nothing compared to the root domain. Any thoughts would be helpful. Thanks.

Can I change URL structure and maintain social signals?
I have recently updated an area of our website that had lots of content and some great social signals such as tweets, pins and facebook likes. The URL structure has changed and URLs have been redirected, but I'm wondering if we have now lost all the social signals? No pins, likes etc show on lots of popular content since the URLs have changed. Is there any way to preserve these or are they lost forever? Thanks in advance

Authorship and Google +
I've got 14 affiliate websites with plenty of original content on each. When I set up Google + last year I of course had the page in my name and then went on to set up separate pages for each site. Actually one page is related to 8 different sites related to golf but broken down by club type. I also have a Wordpress plugin which presents my author bio on my about page for each site. I've filled out all the pertinent information on each Google + page with unique data. OK, when I write a review or blog topic and post it to Google + am I getting the rel = author juice from the sub pages as if I post it to my main profile page? Posting to my Don Bistrow page vs. my golf page?

Google+ - Is it worth it?
I've been looking at putting some of my companies on Google+ but I've just done some quick research and it doesn't seem like many of our competitors or even any in our industry is on there. I have heard that by having a Google+ presence it will help your organic search ranking. However, I'm not sure how true this is. Is it worth setting up a Google+ page if it's likely that you're not going to get much activity on it?

Yet another Google Plus One question: Does it affect ranking for people that you are NOT connected to?
Title pretty much explains it all. If lots of people plus one (the new verb of 2011?) a site, is that site deemed 'popular' and therefore will appear higher up the SERPS generally? Or does it only affect those with whom you are linked via Twitter/Facebook/Google+? Or is it too early to tell yet?
