Ex-Googler: “To Please Google With Your SEO, Forget About SEO”
-
Lets discuss,
Ex-Googler (Search Quality/Webspam team) talking about SEO.
http://searchengineland.com/ex-googler-to-please-google-with-your-seo-forget-about-seo-136800
The bit that got me thinking was 'title tag over optimisation' so what we looking at, shorter title tags with a max of 2 keywords?
And the PR quote, does relevance come above PR/DA/PA?
Thoughts?

I'm a bit leery of this. Where's the concrete proof that he ever worked for Google? I realize nothing he said was overly shocking, but still . . .

I think it's great. Like Deb said, they're trying to avoid people looking at SEO as a game in which you try to beat the system in order to get your site ranked. In my opinion, what Google wants is to produce relevant results that are natural and unforced. I feel that link building should now be termed "increasing brand awareness" and that previously important SEO buzzwords such as "keyword density" and "keyword proximity" should be shunned. SEO should be part of a marketing plan, not some sort of web "formula". Those that have interesting things to say and cool things to sell, and particularly those that do it in new and exciting ways, should be featured in the SERPs regardless of whether they are writing copy to please the search engines or not. Sometimes your best sales copy simply isn't something that an SEO "expert" would consider the best copy from an SEO perspective. I think the further into the future we go, the more alignment we will see between copy written for the visitors and copy written with search engines in mind. Heck this is already something that's taking effect now. For example: I write guest posts to showcase myself as a web authority, somebody who could be considered an expert in my fields of work. I get a tonne of people contacting me, following me and sharing my stuff after reading my guest posts because they see me as an authority. I get backlinks because of it. But I don't write guest posts because I want to build links specifically. I write guest posts to build my BRAND. That, I feel, is where SEO is headed.

Yes, Google is hell bent on making the whole concept of SEO irrelevant. But I think this is the golden opportunity for those who wish to do real marketing. Common guys, we are better than directory submission, article syndication and other sneaky things. I think Google is doing a great favor by decimating these spammy techniques and people who are into the field of marketing will eventually going to love this.
_And Yes Google does not want to kill SEO, it wants to kill those who are making a mockery of the whole concept of internet marketing. _

SEO Consultant Wants to Disavow Organic Links
Hi, We're working with a SEO consultant. They made a second check of our inbound links and want to disavow some of the links that seems organic to me. They claim they're bad by their characteristics. Should we act as they suggest or not? Or should we run from them?;-) Here are some links in question:

New to SEO - Best Practice Example
I am new to the SEO world and I have been using the tools SEOMoz provides. I was doing some research and happen to find this website: http://www.futuresimple.com/lead-tracking-software/ I noticed that their sitemap does not contain all of the links that are located at the bottom of the page. Also when you click one of the page on the bottom that you are taken to a landing page and it forces you to their software page. Community feedback - do you think this is a good techique to do something like this or can you please provide me a some other good examples for a niche/smaller website? Thank you. Denny

SEO in multiple languages
I'm doing SEO for an apartment rental web-site. We have one web-site for each destination. And for some (popular) destinations we have a separate domain for some languages. For instance: http://www.barcelonacheckin.com/en for English and http://www.barcelonacheckin.com/fr for French In another destination we have http://costabrava-ok-apartment.com/en for English and http://www.location-costabrava.fr/ for French. We have good result with the separate domains for languages. But I'm facing two problems: We do not get any progress in the ranks in English in any Web-site There's a lot written about SEO in English and there are many opportunities to build relevant links. But we are out of sources for eg. French. Our SEO routine exists of participating in forums on famous travel web-sites, guest post exchange with our blogs, link exchange and presence in Social media. Can anybody give us some suggestions?

Remove Unatural Links by SEO Co.
The SEO firm we hired built 2797 links with 123 domain within two month period (March and April) when we don't know better. We received Google's warning on 3/28, and they didn't tell us anything but keep building. Well, that's history now. We learned our lesson. That's why we are a member of SEOmoz. The SEO firm is not too keen on helping us remove the link (we've discontinue the service) after one initial attempt to a few site with tons of links (performed by their Indian team). I've got advice from this Forum regarding link removal. The most suggestions we get is to remove it as many as possible and move on building good links. But, I am afraid such approach will take us years to come ahead as we are under staffed. I saw here that someone mentioned their link building firm wants to charge $10 for links removed. Based on that idea, I wonder if I should offer some monetary incentive? If so, what amount would make financial sense?

Has Anyone Heard from Google?
After submit RR last week, we got the following from Google: "We've received a request from a site owner to reconsider how we index the following site: http://www.butterflycraze.com/ We'll review the site. If we find that it's no longer in violation of our Webmaster Guidelines, we'll reconsider our indexing of the site. Please allow several weeks for the reconsideration request. We do review all requests, but unfortunately we can't reply individually to each request." We got discouraged that Goodle said that it'd reconsider if we are no longer in violation. However, we have about 4500 unatural links created by SEO co, who has proceed with some, but, we aren't seen reduction of such links. In fact, it went up. I need advise as how to remove the following (they are the few site with bulk links): fantake.com: have their webmaster info, however, since last request, we still have 1200 links from it. blogspot.com - is there any way to remove links from such site? onlineunionmall.com: don't see any contact info on their site Some suggest us move on by building good links, but, to dilute the power of 4500 unnatural links, it would take forever.

Google Webmaster Tools Link Count
What are your thoughts on the link information provided by GWMT? It often takes quite a bit of time for the links to show up, and some quality links are never shown. Is it cause for concern if your link count is lower in GWMT than, say OSE? Any implications worth noting?
