Is keyword stuffing relative to total copy length or an absolute rule?
-
My seomoz report has warned me about 38 occurrences of a keyword on a page, is that always too many? 19 of them are in my reviews tab, "I love KEYWORD", etc. I expect to get more reviews and more keyword mentions. If I had to keep that page to 15 or fewer, I would have no reviews tab.
-
Amazon appear to use a different url once the reviews link is clicked which perhaps detracts from the seo efforts of the product page?
-
I will continue to add keywords to the page in the natural way I have been, and add markup to reviews section to make it clear that's what it is. I will cut scema markup from my want list and paste it to my need list.
-
I think the solution to this in your case is to place microdata around your reviews (see schema.org). The search engines are smart enough to recognize the perceived "keyword stuffing" as reviews when you markup your code content. Not only will it help with avoiding a keyword stuffing penalty, your rankings may begin to show up with enhanced listings in the SERPs increasing CTR.

This is one, I think people worry about way to often. I understand SEOMoz will warn you if you use anything over then 15, but like most tools that should only serve as a heads up not a chiseled in stone rule.
Technically, you would look at percentages and not just the occurrences.
Take for example Wikipedia's Beaver Page and the keyword Beaver or Beavers
Total Keyword Usage for this Page = 274Which is about 8% of the words on the page. That is a little higher then I expected but still in what I would call an acceptable range. That said, you shouldn't get hung up on keyword density either. The best advice, keep the text natural sounding. Reviews have a tendency to not always follow this rule. Amazon has a great solution for this, which is to allow a review rating system. Then only show the highest rated reviews unless the user request otherwise. You'll find that your better written reviews are the ones that also sound natural and thus get top spot and displayed on page.Hope that helps,

This is a 'damned if you do, damned if you don't' scanario with no quick and simple answer.
I understand fully where you are coming from and the way Keyword density / stuffing comes from is a total count of all words on that page, and seeing, as a percentage, how many times a particular word or phrase occurs.
I can only suggest that reviews are as close to the end of the page as possible, and place copy around there that explains these are reviews - perhaps append / prepend a name with the word 'review' or 'reviewer' etc. Might help alleviate the situation somewhat.

Changing posts that target same keyword to target SIMILAR keywords
Hello, I'm new to SEO and until the last year I was not aware that creating content that target same keywords would make Google choose only one to rank better. Can I leave the best page (highest ranked one) as it is and change the rest that target the same keyword to target similar keywords ? Just a simple example: I have two pages targeting "best supplements to muscle gain" Leave the best one targeting that keyword and now I change the content of the other to target "best supplements for muscle size" This is the smartest move or I'm missing something here and will make things worse ? Ex: maybe some of tthose pages with same keyword arent ranking for the keyword I want but are ranking for another one that I dont know. I'm really insecure about making changes and end up getting worse results.. Thank you (sorry for my bad english)

Homepage target keyword less volume than subcategory keyword
As an example - let's say that I have an online store that sells home accessories. Within my store, I have categories like "kitchen accessories", "bedroom accessories", and "bathroom accessories" among others. Naturally I would want my homepage to be the broadest keyword that best describes my store's offering (i.e. "Home Accessories"). Then, on my sub-category page, I would target "Kitchen Accessories". In this example - let's assume "Kitchen Accessories" has more search volume than "Home Accessories". Would it be better to focus on that keyword on my homepage instead? Example Current Homepage Title: "Beautiful Home Accessories - Crate + Feather" Alternate Homepage Title: "Bath, Bedroom, and Kitchen Accessories - Crate + Feather" Which one would you do assuming everything is equal aside from search volume?

Theme create category page stuffed with Keyword
Hi All, Quick question and I think I already know the answer but wanted to get a second opinion. We have a ecom site running woo commerce and the theme is coded to insert the product category name under the product name on the category page. This has resulted in the category page being stuffed with my keyword 'sofa beds'. Am I right in thinking that in the eyes of Google this page will be penalised for over use of my keyword or does Google view category pages differently? Thanks in advance

Appropriate Keyword Usage in Document
Moz on page grader - Text content is very important for modern SEO. In order to optimize your chances of ranking higher for the targeted keyword(s), we recommend using the targeted keyword(s) at least 4 times. Recommendation: Add at least 4 instances of the targeted keyword(s) to the document text of this page. Is there any preferred word count for the web page/blog? for example it is not good to add keyword 4 time in 200 words content. and We need to add exact keyword 4 times in the content?

Keyword canibalization
Hi, I'm ranking for 'bodybuilding schema' with two separate pages (see attachment). Is this a problem? I heard that's it's better to only have one page ranking per keyword. If so, how do I prevent this? Thanks! Jasper MhcOI

Keyword Self- Cannibalization
I have a question about Keyword Self Cannibalization. I have a web page which is targeting the main keyword as "sarees". But this same page has internal linking from the keywords Benarasi Silk Sarees, Silk Saree, Traditional Sarees, cotton sarees, etc to their respectve pages. We are optimizing those pages separately for their respective keywords as well. When I run on-page report card for these web page from seomoz tool, I got an error says "Avoid Keyword Self-Cannibalization". Is this due to the internal linking from these keywords? Can anybody recommend a solution for this problem?
