DMOZ Directory
-
Have not hear much good about DMOZ lately. Is this listing worth anything?
-
Thats a good idea, in that way we can remove competitor out as well and also notify DMOZ editors as well. But, according to me, they get a notification when the site is dead and there are some hosting or domain issues with the site
-
thanks. looks like this category has no dedicated editor. perhaps why there have been no new additions
-
In categories that have a dedicated editor, their name and link to their profile is usually shown where it currently says "volunteer to edit this category".
-
where does on look to find out how to contact the editor for the section in question? The section of dmoz is dmoz.org/Regional/North_America/Canada/British_Columbia/Localities/C/Courtenay/Business_and_Economy/Real_Estate/ but I do not see any link to contact the editor.
-
Yes, it's still worth it. Got listed a month ago. In addition to the listing, I've now got links from 50+ other sites that scrape dmoz. I'm sure those 50 don't do much, but I did get a noticeable bump.
I submitted it and then 5 days later I contacted the editor and let him know that two sites that were listed in the category were now dead. He removed them and added mine.
-
I have had the same experiences. First time submitted and waited a year and nothing. Re-submitted and after another 6 months nothing. I had heard the link one gets (assuming one gets one) has been devalued
-
Yes.... and good luck getting on it.
I've been waiting near 6 months for three submissions to be added (all different categories as well).
-
If you can get on it its worth it.....I think all the admins died and went to hell nobody will update my listing with the correct business name FML

Yahoo Directory inclusion of Spanish Websites
Hi everyone! I was wondering if anyone of you know if the Yahoo Directory accepts Spanish websites. My website has its 100% market in Mexico, so i havent seen the need to put an english version of the site. I dont know if i can accomodate my site under regional or something in order to avoid translating the ecommerce site. Or i must put an english version of the site. I would deeply thank your comments. Thanks,

Link from Dmoz.org
hi, first question on here. Just starting to get into link building and after a day already confused. I'm using the seomoz pro link analyser / open site explorer to look at my sites links against competitors. First up was dmoz.org. great rankings so a great link target, turns out though that I already have one!! Any ideas why it isn't showing up on my linking domains. Is this a seomoz oversight or am i not getting my alloted 'juice' from this domain??

Question on Links from Directories…
Hello,
Link Building | | inhouseninja
When I do an OSE back link analyses of some sites that are listed in some directories we are considering, for almost all the directories and companies in them, the directories are listed in the OSE report, listed as followed, and usually have decent domain rank and page rank. So this means that the link from the directory is obviously being picked up by OSE and it’s listed as a followable link. My question is just because the link is picked up by OSE does that mean that the search engines value it too? Or could Google see the link ok but throw it out of the equation, presumably because it does not “like” the directory? Hope this makes sense
Thanks!0 -
Is this a directory or are they selling links?
I came across a website that at first looks like an informational site, but they also have a directory. On their directory page, it says that if you would like a link placed in our directory email sales@site.com. Do you think Google would consider this a purchased link or a directory link? Can people get away with selling links on your site if you framed it as a "directory"?

Is there a way to tell if a directory is passing Page Rank or is devalued?
Hi Mozzers! I was wondering if there is a way to determine if a specific directory is passing Page Rank or if the links have been devalued by Google. Thanks!
