Pagination and links per page issue.

Hi all,
I have a listings based website that just doesn't seem to want to pass rank to the inner pages.
See here for an example:
http://www.business4sale.co.uk/Buy/Hotels-For-Sale-in-the-UK
I know that there are far too many links on this page and I am working on reducing the number by altering my grid classes to output fewer links.
The page also displays a number of links to other page numbers for these results. My script adds the string " - Page2" to the end of the title, description and URL when the user clicks on page two of these results.
My question is:
Would an excessive amount(200+) of links on a page result in less PR being passed to this page(looking spammy)?
And would using rel canonical on page numbers greater than 1 result in better trust/ranking?
Thanks in advance.

I believe the number 100 is the limit of links in a page. and yes the more links the less pr being passed to each page.
But 100 links on the home page means means you can have 100 child pages with 100 links on each means 10,000 links only 2 clicks from home page.
as for re=canonical, is page 2 unique? then yes just as you would for any other page.
I assume you are aware of the flat link stucture, if not I think this page though old is a must.

Rel canonical doesn't tell engines not to crawl the page (the mata tag nofollow does that), but rather just tells the engine not to index the page in place of the 1st page of your pager results. This helps reduce duplicate content penalties and consolidates your PA onto a single URL. I could be wrong, but I imagine you would also prefer organic users to go to the first page of results rather than, say, page 6.
The result is that engines will still crawl your pages and find your listings (and index those), but only index the first page of your listing page.
I hope that helps to clarify things!

I'm sorry, what I meant was you should make the pagination pages canonical themselves, like for Page 2...
-
But would rel canonical make listing on page 2 and above unindexible?
Listings are added chronologically on my site and I still want crawlers to be able to reach adverts created years ago, these listing a could be on page 100, surely rel canonical tells engines not to crawl the page as it is not the canonical version?

200 links on a page isn't that bad. Once you get to 250+ I would rethink the architecture.
Yes, you should use rel canonical on your pagination pages.
A good way to pass ranking between deep pages like this is to have a section at the bottom that offers similar listings in the area. This way you are giving the bots multiple ways to find each listing, rather than just from one page/category. Do it like this - http://www.estatesgazette.com/propertylink/advert/kensingtonrooms_hotel-_131_137_cromwell_road_london_sw7_4du-3264453.htm. They have a "More Properties from this Advertiser" section.

What's the best way to check Google search results for all pages NOT linking to a domain?
I need to do a bit of link reclamation for some brand terms. From the little bit of searching I've done, there appear to be several thousand pages that meet the criteria, but I can already tell it's going to be impossible or extremely inefficient to save them all manually. Ideally, I need an exported list of all the pages mentioning brand terms not linking to my domain, and then I'll import them into BuzzStream for a link campaign. Anybody have any ideas about how to do that? Thanks! Jon

Link to homepage or brand page?
Hi, I have opportunity to get a link from a brands website to our website as we are official retailers. Should I give them our homepage URL or should I give them their brands page on our website? The brand page will have their brand name in the URL, meta details, images, content and products. What is more beneficial SEO wise? Thanks

Better UX or more Dedicated Pages (and page views)?
Hi, I'm building a new e-commerce site and I'm conflicting about what to do in my category pages. If we take for example a computer store.

I have a category of laptops and inside there are filters by brand (Samsung, HP, etc.). I have two options - either having the brand choice open a new dedicated page -
i.e. Samsung-Laptops.aspx or simply do a JQuery filter which gives a better and faster user experience (immediate, animated and with no refresh). **Which should I use? (or does it depend on the keyword it might target)? **
Samsung laptops / dell laptops / hp laptops - are a great keyword on there own! By the way, splitting Laptops.aspx to many sub category physical pages might also help by providing the site with many actual pages dealing with laptops altogether.0 -
To recover from Penguin update, shall i remove the links or disavow links?
Hi, One of our websites hit by Penguin update and I now know where the links are coming from. I have chance to remove the links from those incoming links but I am a little confused whether i should just remove the links from incoming links or disavow the links? Thanks

Hidden keywords - how many per page?
Hi All, We have a booking website we want to optimize for keywords we cannot really show, because some of our partners wouldn't want it. We figured we can put said keywords or close synonyms onpage in various places that are not too dangerous though (e.g. image names, image alt tags, URLs, etc.). The question is how much keywords we can target though? We know keyword stuffing is detrimental, and we will not start to create long URLs stuffed with keywords, same for H1 tags or page titles. So how many is acceptable/not counterproductive? Thanks!

10,000+ links from one site per URL--is this hurting us?
We manage content for a partner site, and since much of their content is similar to ours, we canonicalized their content to ours. As a result, some URLs have anything from 1,000,000 inbound links / URL to 10,000+ links / URL --all from the same domain. We've noticed a 10% decline in traffic since this showed up in our webmasters account & were wondering if we should nofollow these links?

Two links from one page with different Anchor text
Example Business Name - UberPuter UberPuter targets the keywords "Computer Repairs" right from their home page. UberPuter has the option to place links on 150 of their customers pages that are happy with the service. Would it be best to place two anchor text links one with the brand name and one with the keyword anchor text in "computer repairs" pointing both at the home page or should UberPuter only place one link back to the home page for the Keyword Anchor text? To the best of my knowledge G only counts the first link on a page as a "Vote" so my thought is to only include the single link with the keyword anchor text. Thanks,
