Open Site Explorer Changed?
-
I am getting this at the bottom of Open Site Explorer. I have never seen this message before.
"Why does my number of inbounds links listed not match my total links count? The listed number may be slightly different because we only show 25 links per domain (so that you see a variety). Additionally you have 18 links from no-indexed pages. Unfortunately, we can't get info for those links."
Did SEOMoz change something? If I look at a site, SEOMOZ's OSE doesn't show me all the links it can find anymore? It only shows 25 max???

Marking the question as answered is appreciated, but I also just did that. Will never turn down a thumbs up, but we don't go looking for them either in Q&A.
If you do 200 links worth of guest posting from one domain, we won't show you all of that, but you can still look in Google and Bing and see the links there..and you'd probably have a couple of tired writers on your hands, too.

Okay, I thought it mean from all domains linking to me. I didn't realize it meant 25 links from one of the domains to me. So if I engage in a lot of blogging to one particular site, and create 200 backlinks on that site, I don't see them all on OSE.
Gotcha!
Does it help staff if they get the thumbs up/good answer ? LOL

OSE shows just 25 links from a single domain, so we can show you a variety of results, as opposed to showing all 13,000 links you might have from the same domain because of a site-wide footer link, for example. I don't know the complete history, but it's been this way for some time.

DA of External Link Sites
Curious as to how you separate a "good" link from a "bad" one. I go through Open Site Explorer and see a variety of sites linking to our page. Some have good Domain/Page Authority and others do not. When looking for links, where do you determine whether a link from a specific page will help/hurt you in terms of their DA/PA? Translated another way: How much DA/PA does a site/page need to have before you decide it will pass good link juice to yours via a link?

Multiple guest posts from one site have any effect on rankings?
I have started guest blogging and have sites asking me for more content. I understand that regular guest blogging is great for building authority as an author and has the potential to get more links through word of mouth and other sites linking to me. The more posts I do the more exposure I get. But if I have say 3 or 4 posts on an external site with each linking to my site (to a different url and with different anchor text) does that have any effect on rankings as all links come from the same domain? As I understand it links from different root domains are what matters. Presumably a site with links from 5 different sites with 10 links on each external domain totalling 50 links wouldn't rank as well as a site with links from 50 different domains (1 per domain)?

Should we Have Our Anchor Text Changed?
Unfortunately, we used a SEO company to do some link building for us and they used a lot of marketed keywords as anchor text instead of branded. About a month into the project, we saw a drop in ranking for those keywords. From what I've read, Google is cracking down on marketed keywords in anchor text (when it is done in a spammy looking way). I have contacted the company that did the work and they said they could update the anchor text. So my questions are: Should we asked them to change the anchor text to branded keywords or should we just leave them? 2) If we do have them changed, do you think Google will look at that as another spammy move? Any input would be great. Lesson learned not to used a reputable SEO company and for us not to monitor how they were submitting links. Ron

Importing Open Site Explorer Into Raven Tools
I have just started to use SEOMOZ and Raven Tools at the same time. What is the easiest way to import Open Site Explorer link data (.csv extension) into Raven Tools so that I can manage my link building campaigns? If somebody knows an easy way to do that I will appreciate. Thanks in advance!

Why does Open Site Explorer list Twitter and Facebook links for one of my sites and not others
One of my sites has the nofollow backlink listed for Facebook and Twitter while 2 other sites do not. All 3 sites have had accounts for over a year. Does the amount of interactivity with the social media profiles have to do with it? I know it is a nofollow link but I was just curious as those profiles might help with the brand signal etc.
