My best links not showing in Open Site Explorer
-
Why is it that OSE does not display my strongest backlinks, including those from Wikipedia, a legitamite .edu, Squidoo, etc.?
Some of those links have been live for a long time, and some (not all) are "dofollow".
Impossible to do a thorough backlink analysis in this situation.

A bit disappointing....I am seeing a deeper more comprehensive link profile using Small SEO Tools backlink checker

To be honest OSE has to be one of the slowest methods for finding new links.
If they were on par with some others they would surely get more revenue/subscriptions.
Seomoz, pick up your game, there are other link explorers that only need a few days to pick up new links, why do you need months and only update on certain days of the month?
Do us all a favour and make OSE our favourite tool!

Yes - they show up in Google Webmaster

I've seen different link builders suggest to build a link our two to your resources in order to get them found quicker by Google, and everyone else. These programs work by spidering the internet, and links are the fastest way to do that.

Hi William,
SEOmoz robots needs sometime to crawl the web pages. Wait for some time it will surely show those backlinks. And it will also show nofollow link.
Hope this link help you: http://www.seomoz.org/help/open-site-explorer-faq

Asking a site to remove a "nofollow" on a link to our client
Hello, We created a good infographic for a client of ours and a large tech site (DA 86) picked up and ran a story on it. We didn't contact this company asking them to feature it, they have just picked it up through other shares around the Web. I understand that, at the end of the day, it's their prerogative whether to "nofollow" their links or not, but surely they should be giving our client some credit as they have clearly deemed the graphic newsworthy and felt that it would appeal to their readership. I've emailed said tech site, but to no avail. Does anyone have any advice on this? Or is it just a case of they can do what the heck they want? I know that our client will still benefit from the additional referral traffic, but a follow link would have been nicer! Cheers, Lewis

Somone is creating a ton of links to my site!!!
Today I looked at site explorer and found over 1100 linking root domains and over 750 linking c-blocks. My site was hovering around 200 linking root domains and 150 linking c-blocks. I have not paid anyone to link to my site... Is this one of my competitors trying to create negative seo for a specific key word? I've worked very hard to never try to build links and only get links naturally by providing good content that people would want to link to. Can all hundreds of new links hurt me? What can I do? my site is www.yakangler.com | | |

Best way to build inbound links?
Recently I learned that there are links that are nofollow that google doesn't consider part of SEO. I was curious to know and also to help other new users what the community thinks the best practices are in growing your inbound links. Thank you for all the responses. I hope this link has served to help new users recently introduced to SEO and link building.

Bought links from sites with target keyword in their URL
One of my rivals in a competitive field (real estate) has done this deliberately and extensively -- it accounts for about 2/3 of his inbound links. Result: he's now #1. How strong a ranking factor is keywords in source URL - ie, how easy is it to beat with other ranking factors?

Do Press Releases Show Up as Links?
We release a press release nearly a year ago: http://www.prweb.com/releases/2012/2/prweb9185282.htm However, I can't find the links or the prweb.com linking domain in our link profile. I've see MarketWire links show up in competitors' profiles. Is this just an issue specific to PRWeb or am I missing something? Thanks!

Are you careful about linking back to sites that link to you?
Suppose that a trusted website added you to their recommended links page. Do you worry that linking back to them from a page on your site will diminish the value of the original link?

Link building and directory links to a new site
I have three new sites all hosted on the same server in the same public html folder and each site is in a different folder inside the public html folder. These sites are a listing of live music venues in different cities in Texas. Should I link these sites together to increase page rank to each other and also put key search phrases in the anchor text and place these links in the text in the center of each page of each site to make the links more effective? Also, because the sites are about a year old they don't have many inlinks yet. If i submit them to about 50 directories will Google not like this because there are way more directory links than natural links? I've been told that it is trouble to have more than about 50% directory links compared to natural links. Thanks in advance for your answers! Take care,
